I would love to hear every one's top #3 draft day scenerios. Trades can be included but keep um' short & keep um' real !

Here is mine

1. Gasol / #11 Jack or Law
My final offer for Gasol:
#3/ Chills / ZaZa / Lue (of course we 1st try offering less)
#11 take Law or flip it for Jack, of course if Conley slips to #11 I take him but that is unrealistic

2. #3 Hoford / #11 Jack or Law
Pick Law at #11 or flip it  for Jack
Of course if Conley slips to #11 I take Conley but that is unrealistic

3. Conley & CV / best option trade or draft at #11
Trade #3 to Bucks for #6(Conley) and CV
Use #11 in the most efficient wasy possible: one of (Green, Thorton, Young, Hawes will be there at #11)

There is my top #3

good thread...hope it catches on...

1) Trade #3, Childress, Zaza, and Speedy (I would love to keep either Chill/Zaza but I think that's probably the least we could give them) for Pau Gasol.

Conley Slips to #11...and we pick him.

2) Draft Yi or Horford (to me, it's really a toss-up b/t them right now) at #3.

Conley slips to #11...and we pick him.

3) Trade #3 for the #6 and Charlie Villanueva.

Yi slips to #6...and we take him.

Conley slips to #11...and we take him.

These are not necessarily in any order.  I think I prefer #1 or #3.

Also, this doesn't necessarily have to happen on draft day, but I would like to see us make a trade (Chills, Zaza, or maybe Marvin) to acquire a Center.

(Not in any particular order or based on any realistic, current rumors)
-------------------------------------------------------
#1:

To Atlanta - Kobe Bryant
To Lakers - #3 Pick / Marvin / Chill / Wright / Claxton

To Atlanta - Damien Wilkins
To Seattle - Tyronn Lue / Salim Stoudamire

11th Pick - Mike Conley falls to us

Conley / AJ
Bryant / Wilkins
Johnson / Wilkins
Smith / Jones
Zaza / Shelden

We'd HAVE to sign a veteran PF/C in the offseason but I don't think it would be hard to persuade someone.
--------------------------------------------------------
#2

Atlanta trades #3 / Marvin Williams / Salim Stoudamire
Seattle trades #2 / Damien Wilkins

Send those West coast guys back home.

Atlanta trades Childress / Lue / Zaza
Denver trades Marcus Camby

#11 - Mike Conley falls once again /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Mike Conley / Anthony Johnson
Joe Johnson / Damien Wilkins
Kevin Durant / Damien Wilkins
Josh Smith / Solomon Jones
Marcus Camby / Shelden Williams / Lorenzen Wright
------------------------------------------------------
#3 For the last one, I'll just take our original picks

3rd Pick - Yi Jian Lian
11th Pick - Mike Conley

Atlanta trades Childress / Zaza / Lue
Denver trades Marcus Camby

Mike Conley / Anthony Johnson
Joe Johnson / Salim Stoudamire
Marvin Williams / Yi Jian Lian

Best Case Scenario:

#3 - Al Horford, C, 6'10", 244, Florida
#11 - Mike Conley Jr., PG, 6'0", 177, Ohio State

Will it actually happen?  Probably not.  The more I look at this thing though, the more I think we need to resist the temptation to trade for overpriced, one dimensional players like Pau Gasol and simply follow the true model of winning in the NBA which means getting guys who are team players that can defend.  Al Horford can be a Dwight Howard/Amare Stoudemire type of center in the NBA.  Undersized, but very mobile and very active with a defensive mindset.  He's also very physical inside, and the Hawks could really bruise some rear ends with Horford and Shelden on the court at the same time.  The combination of Josh Smith and Al Horford inside though could develop into the best interior defensive combo in the game.

The unlikely part of this is Mike Conley falling to the 11th pick, however, the possibility is there.  If the Hawks do draft Horford though, the Memphis Grizzlies could quickly turn their attention towards Mike Conley Jr.  If he were to fall to the 11th pick though, it would clearly represent the best case scenario.  Of all the point guards in this draft, Mike Conley represents what the Hawks need the most - A true distributor and facilitator that is an in-your-back-pocket on the ball defender.  Mike Conley helps improve the team's defense, along with Al Horford inside, and he also helps get the offense going by being able to get Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, Josh Childress, Al Horford, and Shelden Williams open shots.  It's a match made in heaven, IMO.

Secondary Best Case Scenario:
#3 - Al Horford, C, 6'10", 244, Florida
#11 - Acie Law, PG, 6'3", 190, Texas A&M

I've already stated what I need to about Al Horford.  It's really a tough decision between Acie Law, Rodney Stuckey, and Javaris Crittenton though.  I'm going with Acie Law right now, but I almost went with Rodney Stuckey.  Neither point guard is the distributor that Mike Conley Jr. is, but both of them were their team's primary scoring option and simply didn't have the role of a distibutor.  It doesn't mean they can't do it.  Both players have great size and defensive potential.  Rodney Stuckey is more of a gambler on defense than Acie Law, but I see a lot of Chauncy Billups in Acie Law.  I like Javaris Crittenton's potential, but he's not ready.  He needs to become a better decision maker with the basketball, or else his turnover rate in the NBA will be astronomical.

Trade Chills and #11 to LA for Farmar and #19
Trade #19, Sheldon and Speedy for Signed Darko at $8 mill
Draft Horford.

Farmar/AJ
Johnson/Salim
Smith/Marvin
Horford/Solo
Darko/ZaZa

Darko is similar to Pau in that he is a nice mow post presence and doesn't cost us our 3 pick. I think a combination of Horford/Darko is comparable to Pau Gaol in some ways - in other ways we should just get Pau, anyway. Yi - I like, but not with any of the Florida players on the board. I think Horford can be speacial in the East. Farmar quite simply is better than any other PG we could get at 11.

This team is young, but with plenty of NBA experience.

I'll just stick with the draft. The first two are without trades. Since i can't make up my mind on whether to take Yi Conley...

Scenario 1

Conley at 3
Stuckey at 11

We know Childress is a goner and Stuckey could fill the role Childress plays now and do a much better job.

Scenario 2

Yi at 3
Law at 11

Scenario 3

This is with a trade of Shelden/11 to the Bucks for 6.

Yi at 3
Conley at 6

This is my best case draft scenario.

I'll add a Dwight Howard deal as #4 BUT there is no way that Josh Smith is included in the deal.

#3 Pick / Marvin Williams / Shelden Williams / Salim

for Dwight / filler

#11 - Javaris Crittenton

Critty / Joe / Chill / Smith / Dwight

Draft Yi, trade the #11 Childress and whatever for an established player, preferably a center, but I'd be happy with an upgrade at Chilz position(s). I'm ok with AJ for this year.

Trade the #3 and whatever for a second level guy like JO or Gasol, and get a young pg at #11.

Trades must happen, regardless of picks.

I hope above all hope that BK understands this.  We have THREE needs in terms of talent, Pg, and C.  This draft can't fill them all.  BK has to get over himself ALOT here.  Most of our tradable assets are players he drafted.  He has to get over himself and not only realize that we need to make a trade but it is likely from these assets that we need to trade.

I'm still for drafting Yi and then:

1) drafting either Noah, the best Pg available, or even trading Chill/11 for the 1st Pg taken/2nd rder
2) trading some part of ZaZa, SW, MW, and/or if remaining JC for either  Pg or a center

I could live with some form of Gasol.

Why is there such an insatious desire to trade Josh Childress for a lesser player?

Jordan Farmar and the 19th pick in no way represents equal value for Josh Childress, much less Josh Childress and the 11th pick overall.

You are right.  I think the obsessiveness in adding Childress to trades is because he supposedly wants to go somewhere he can start.  I don't believe that should lessen his value, though.  It just depends on what his value is and would that net us a quality PG or PF/C?

In all honesty Chills should have been starting at SF and Marvin should be coming off the bench last year.

Chills is better then Marvin at just about everything. The only thing that Marvin is better at is that his release on his jump shot it quicker and higher then Chill's jumper. Marvin just has that characteristic of more up side.

Since Marvin is the teachers pet Chills gets the short end of the stick. I can't blame if he is telling BK to get me out of here so I can show my true worth before I'm a free agency. Chills is criticized b/c Deng and Iggy have put up slightly better numbers. If Chills had the same oppurtunity as them to not only start but be asked to score more he may produce = results as his draft day counter parts. The problem is no one knows until he has that chance.

At the very least Chills will alwayse be an integral role player for a winning team no matter if he is the 6th man or a starter.

Chills would be a perfect fit for the Jazz who need more atheleticsm at their wing positions. I bet the Jazz and Spurs come hot and ready for Chills when he is a free agent. So happens those are really 2 coaches and organizations that understand how to build a cohesive team that plays the game the right way.
