I am starting to think the whole season is going to be cancelled

This is the time of year when we have our fantasy teams done....we are excited / down on the new free agents / trades that we acquired .... getting pumped for the new season.

At least there is still some college basketball to look forward to

The league is hurting itself. People will find other things to do.  Too bad the Thrashers left.

Why don't they just do a one year temporary agreement at some middle ground to get things going.  If i'm an owner who has half empty arenas all the time i don't see how i could afford to lose a season.  The baseball strike badly hurt that sport and it took years to recover.  That was friggin baseball!  The national pasttime.  Revenues will be in the toilet if they lose an nba season.

...but if the league's numbers are to be believed, then losing a season may actually help many of these clubs.  They'll make money elsewhere.

For some reason, I'm just not affected by this lockout as I was back in 98.  Moreover if there is really a push for competitive balance, then I honestly don't care if they wipe out the whole season.  I don't care about salaries - the players are the product and should get paid as much as the system will allow.  The owners are also entitled to make money.  None of us would disagree if we owned one of these teams and bled money all over it.  My biggest issue is this thing with all the major talent migrating to a handful of teams.  That bullsh*t has got to stop.

I have a feeling it will be worse because now if this season is lost Howard, Paul and some more of the stars are now free agents.  Teams that would have used up their cap space this season now are in the running for those guys

If you believe the NBA's numbers, they will save money by not having the season and only beginning to play again after the economics have been fixed so the franchises operate at a profit.  The NBA claims 300 million per season in operating losses (3/4 of the league losing 450M and 1/4 of the league making 150M).

Ditto with Vol4 - great post, Wretch.

I've never been a big college hoops fan, but I plan to take more of it in this season just so I can get my hoops fix.  And the nice thing about being a tennis fan is that there's no offseason!

I've noticed that SportSouth and Fox Sport South are showing hockey games for the Hurricanes, Predators, and Lightning, so there are other pro sport nightly options on the tube. My plan now is to play the hell out of NBA2k12 Posted Image

This should be a fantastic years for blue bloods in college basketball.  I am very excited to see what a stacked but young UK is able to do this season.  Hopefully I will be watching one or more future Hawks!

Included among them is Teague's younger brother who is also supposed to be pretty quick on the floor.

To be clear, this is a lockout, not a strike. The owners initiated this work stoppage by opting out of the labor deal, not the players.

I don't think the image in your signature is large enough, AHF.  I can barely see it.  Posted Image

Clearly, it wasn't being properly resized.  I've inserted a new one for easier viewing!

I was just giving you a hard time.  But seriously, it felt like I had to scroll across half the screen to get to the bottom of your signature.  Now it's an easy bite-size morsel.  Much better!
