By the Hornets.  Trade could be imminent.  We need Kaman over K-Mart everyday of the week.

Probably no chance this happens but Kaman is a legit 7-0 CTR who can play.

We have no one who matches up with his salary except Josh and Al, and Al is BYC.

Josh for Kaman?

Don't see it.

What is Hinrich's hit against the cap? Marvin + Hinrich?

All I know, Vol, is that ESPN Trade Machine contends that Kaman can't be traded unless it's 1 for 1.

If I'm the Hawks I find a way to get this done.  Kaman is a top 10 center, can run the court, rebound and block a few shots.  He was a low post game to boot.  He has been a 17/10 guy in the past.

Even if "find a way" means "sending Smoove to the Hornets"...?

Well Hawks gotta decide who the PF is gonna be.  Horf is not a center, Kaman is.  Kaman would be a keeper.  Who else besides D12 is available as a center?  I would have to take a long look at the future with this.  This team is not going to win in the playoffs, way too small.  Kaman is in last year of contract and can't command the huge contract on the FA market after this season.

But you wouldn't trade Kaman straight-up for Smoove, would you?!? Sure, you could make a second companion trade, but that would almost have to involve Hinrich in that trade, and it's hard to see what the Hornets could send back that would re-balance the overall transaction. I won't disagree that I'd love to see Kaman with us, but I'm scratching my head as to any pragmatic path to getting there.

Fyi... must've been someone tinkering with the ESPN trade machine this evening... suddenly, I don't get the same restriction on a Kaman trade.

I'm just thinking future here.  Horford is not and doesn't want to play center.  Is Kaman a 4 or 5 yr option at center?  Do the Hawks have any shot at D-12?

Just read that the Celtics are holding out to see if Kaman might simply be bought out of his NOLA contract.

If that's at all plausible, we're one of the few contenders with a full MLE.

I think the restriction is that NO can not trade him with other players but can recieve multiple players in return.

Accorinding to ESPN it expires on Feb 12th

I just cant see the Hawks adding a lyer and going over the cap.  It's just frustrating.
