I agree with most of what's been said.   In a nutshell:

better marketing - Our 'core' has no visibility or persona in the public at all.
cheaper concessions - this is what kills families
better ticket deals
more entertainment.   Notice there isn't even a half time show anymore?   The Pistons had Morris Day playing halftime.   How bout some ex-hawks playing horse at halftime.  or celebrities.

The only way you get Kids hooked is if Dad brings sons to the game.
That speaks to a bigger issue........too many kids in Atlanta don't have an active dad or father figure in their life. The ASG could bring in 4 youth basketball teams, at least once a week. Have those teams 4 teams do two half court scrimmages at half time. This is someting they have done in the past that I like.

Another problem is too many Atlanta dads take their kids to see the opposing team. I remember sitting next to a father and son pair at a Celtics game. Daddy was born and raised in Atlanta. The father's favorite player was Rasheed Wallace (wich was troubling enough in itself). The kid loved KG. Every time KG cried for a foul or got emotional the little 7 year old would jump up and beat his own chest like KG does. If your raising your kids to envy Rasheed Wallace and KG its a bit worrisom.

When you were at GSu getting in for 5 dollars, were the games packed?
Those were JT, Bobby Sura, Matt Collier, and  Jimmy Jackson years. You would have to pay most people to watch that team play.

On a positive note I think the ASG does an excellent job of entertaiment during timeouts. Whether its "Kiss Cam, the Home Depot FT shooting game, or a comic bit.

I'd lower non-suite ticket prices quite a bit and I'd allow students to get tickets for pennies on the dollar and try and fill the arena with young people who will get the place rocking.

I'd also make some type of move, even if it's just signing a guy like Pryz, to prove to the fans that we care about winning.

I like the student idea.  Both Tech and State are fairly close to Phillips.  The Hawks need to get on campus and run some sort of promotion for the students.  Keep it going so its not a one-and-done deal.  The tickets could be for weekday games as most college kids don't have to get up that early for class (at least I didn't).

This is a great idea.  Bring teams in from all over the state... Teams and their families would have to register.  Give them a chance to meet all the players before shoot around.  Givem a hotdog and a seat.  I remember, the Braves used to have all the APS students coming to games.  They sat them kids in the nosebleed seats, but they were there.  I want to believe that it built some loyalty.

I will never forget the United Negro College Fund Event that Nique put on for a few years.  It was like a mini All-Star Game with Magic, Mike, Larry, Isaiah, etc.  My favorite live basketball moment of all time came at one of those games: His Airness dunked from the free throw line and the Omni went nuts.  There are people who've been to hundreds of Bulls games and never saw Mike do that live.  Josh and Zaza are our fan favorites?  I could see them putting something together in the offseason involving charity, dunking, food, and fashion to reel in more fans and give them a lasting memory during the offseason.  Many people here simply don't anticipate Hawks campaigns.  Those UNCG games made me more aware of other NBA players' fellowship and fueled anticipation for when their team came to town, although I'm pretty sure no one on our team has the respect or pull that Nique had at his peak.  Something big and with widespread announcement should go down at Phillips with the players and fans in a happy, non-competitive, and most of all, affordable setting.  If I remember correctly, the tickets for those games were signifigantly lower than regular season games.  Who the hell wouldn't pay a reduced ticket amount to see Blake Griffin in a friendly Dunk Contest with Josh and Dwight?
