He will be a nice pickup but don't expect KMart of 5 years ago.  It adds to our depth though

After tonight, he knows for a fact that he will play an instrumental role. We need post help as well as professional rebounding.

Now if we can just find brains and balls we'll be all set

I can't be too excited about Kenyon.  I mean, he's 34 yrs old and last season, he didn't produce much.  However, I guess he's better than Collins.   Still, we need some size.

Do you think the Hawks have deliberately avoided pursuing a legit center to avoid having to choose between Al and Josh?

I'm on my phone so I can't check the stats to be sure but I believe he avg'd about 25 mpg and shot around 51% so worst case is he's a PF who can shoot a good percentage and after seeing Ivan (especially) and Josh stink it up inside tonight I will be more than happy if that's all he gives us.

And just remember how bug of a difference Kurt Thimas made for the Bucks, Bulls and now Blazers the past 3 years with modest stats.

Kenyon started off last year injured (off season surgery I think), he played in 48 games, 8ppg and 6 rpg.

i'll say this....remember kenyon martin and josh smith seem to have a good relationship(slam dunk contest), billy knight made a big run at kmart when he got his big deal and he flirted with actually coming to atlanta even with as terrible as we were at that time. ALSO, i remember sekou writing a story years back(the early woody days) about how while we played denver one of our guys got crushed on a screen during the game and after the game kenyon went out of his way to come into the atlanta locker room and let the young guys know to succeed in this league you have to look out for your teammates. i think he does have genuine interest in playing here.

My concern is that he is a very similar player to ivan johnson i believe who we already have and is doing a good job. but im not opposed to adding another player like that. as we saw tonight against memphis, we may be tougher this year.....but we need more of it because those dudes abused us physically tonight. i do also think we need size which he doesnt bring. im assuming twin will miss some time, and to be honest he is the player on the roster im most concern about because i dont think he's helped this team as much as he is capable of so far. im hoping the argument that "the vet is saving it for dwight" is correct. but i also can't see how losing the weight he did in the off season will help against dwight.

if we get kmart, who do we cut? the obvious choice is stack, but i really beleive what the players say is true....that his vocal leadership has played a major role with us this season. i wonder if he would stay on as a coach or something.

Does anybody know what K-Mart's stat's were playing in China, just as a gauge to see how it went over there.  Although he may be similar to Ivan, I would have more confindence that K-Mart will hit the open jumper, not make a lot of turnovers, and understand playoff basketball.  K-Mart might not get called for a fould as quickly as Ivan either.

Not sure how much you can gauge from the stats. He averaged 14/10 in China, but over there Othello Hunter is a 18/12 player and Randolph Morris 24/10.

I had no desire to persue KMart, but after last night I would say we need him. We have no depth at the forward/C position with Twin and Horford down.
