Which is about an hour and 45 minutes from now. Which if I'm JT, I'm wondering why this can't just wait until the morning. A guy has to sleep, right?

The Hawks will likely extend DerMarr Johnson a contract as the FA period opens, and Stan Kasten has said that they will be making an offer to JT, 12:01 AM July 1st, the first minute they can extend such an offer.

You would think the Hawks would wait to see what the market bears for JT, but they want JT to know they want him and that's the reason for the first minute offer. It may not be the last one, and Terry is likely to look around, but you never know...

strange, I assume this isn't the qualifying offer, thus it's some sort of real one, above the MCE? My guess is that signign JT early is paramount, within reasons of course, so that the "mgt." can better determine the course of action for the rest of the summer.

They'd like to get him now, get him early, get him without playing the bargaining game...it's really a pretty shrewd move.
