Believe that Morris is in China and no longer a Hawk. But that still leaves 14. Someone is getting cut or the Hawks are setting up for a big trade. My guess is Z is going along with Crawford. That is just from looking at the numbers and who stacks up where.
Nonetheless, I do like the signing of Thomas. He brings toughness that is SORELY lacking from this team. Smith could use a huge does of what Thomas has going on. Marvin as well.

You realize that we can have 15 players on the roster and only haven't because we have been too cheap to do so in years past, right? I don't see a numbers problem here. Moreover, if the Hawks are cheap then there is no way they will cut someone with a guaranteed contract when they are below the 15 player max.
Neither Sy nor Thomas is a huge impact but Thomas >> Collins.

He wasn't signed for his points. He's a role player to come in and play defense and rough up opposing bigs and hopefully to teach our guys a little moxy.

Don't know much about Etan Thomas but I do know this... Isn't Kurt Thomas a bum, and all he did last season in the playoffs last year is give us fits. If we get half of that out of our thomas I'm happy. Play physical and be annoying as hell that's all we want to hell with points and rebounds

Perhaps some of us are looking at this wrong.
Question: Is Thomas a tough player? Yes of no.
Question: Is Thomas a big man? Yes or no.
Hawks desperately need a big, tough man to play inside. Not major minutes. Just a few minutes
on most nights. Does he qualify for this role?
Someone posted that, in the last several years, Thomas had his greatest games against the
Atlanta Hawks. If this is true, and I have no reason to doubt it, this will remove him from that
list of players who enjoy career games aganst our Hawks.
If you are expecting Thomas to be a major player, you will probably be dissapointed. He wasn't
signed for that role. Not at the price the Hawks are paying. Some players, Hawk players, are
paid mega bucks. They are stars. Compare the reletive pittance Thomas is signed for. He is
a roll player, nothing more.
I think you've penned it right Gray. A lot of our fanbase believes that we need Brooks Lopez to be competitive. If Horf is willing to play C (starting) then having BUs who are tough like Thomas and Zaza is good.
I want to see the hands of them who would trade Smoove for Lopez and move Horf to PF.

If Horf can't stop good C's WTH makes you think Thomas and ZaZa can? I lke our FAs but they clearly won't be enough compared to the rest of our division's pick ups. The only way we progress out of the 2nd round (hopefully) is that this new offense gets Joe some rest, Marv to step up BIG TIME and Josh grows to become elite. Other than that we'll be lucky to make it to the 2nd round.

How many times has he played even 70 games in a season? For somebody so tough he sure does sit on the bench licking is wounds a lot.
