Now that the draft is over and we didn't make a move, we'll seek to find our true center elsewhere.  Here's where my latest proposal kicks in.....

Trade Josh Smith for Brooks Lopez and Travis Outlaw

Why Atlanta does it? We get our true center.

Why New Jersey does it?  They get excitement.  They get a running mate for Deron.  They get rid of Outlaw's contract.  They then go out and try to sign a free agent big man like Marc Gasol  or Samuel Dalembert to replace Lopez.  They're more concerned with getting guys that rebound as opposed to scorers.  Lopez's poor rebounding was a disappointment and can they really count on Kris Humphries to repeat last season's career year?  Of course, Lamar married a Kardashian and won 6th man of the year.  Maybe they're thinking the same way for Kris?

re-sign Jason Collins, and Damien Wilkins
Hawks use partial MLE for Reggie Evans
Hawks use partial MLE for Anthony Parker
Use last roster spot for PG to fill out rotation

Teague/Hinrich
Johnson/Parker/Sy
Williams/Outlaw/Wilkins
Horford/Evans/Rolle
Lopez/Pachulia/Collins/Benson

Hinrich becomes your 6th man while your 2nd unit still has offensive and defensive strengths.  Outlaw has the ability to score and he's long and athletic.  Parker is a great spot up shooter who's not a horrible defender.  Evans will get you boards by the bunches and Pachulia is Pachulia.  Collins retains his role as Dwight stopper (or at least speed bump) and Wilkins is depth in case of an injury.  Sy, Rolle, and Benson are all just long-term projects for the end of the bench.

Talented Centers like Brook Lopez are so few that they are not going to just trade him for Smith.  The only way I can see NJ letting him go is if SMith is a way for them to land Howard.

You might be right; however Lopez does a poor job rebounding for some reason.  He's a good scorer, but that's about it.  Fortunately for the Hawks, we desperately need a low post scorer.  Of course, we could use more rebounding as well which is why I had us signing Reggie Evans in my proposal.

Personally, I think moving Outlaw's contract and being able to put a team like.....

Williams/Farmar
Morrow/Brooks
Smith/James
Humphries/Williams
Dalembert/Petro

....is better than what they have now.  Williams and Morrow are good outside shooters and that team gives them some really good rebounders and Smith and Dally can anchor their defense.  It's an exciting team IMO that could be fun to watch and maybe has enough pieces to keep Deron in New Jersey to build around.

If they don't see Smith as a SF, they could either bring Humphries off the bench or use the money they'd sign him with the go after another good SF free-agent.  Of course they could possibly go with

Williams
Brooks
Morrow
Smith
Dalembert

as their starting 5 as well.  That would give them some serious shooters on the floor and probably work better for them in the long run although they'd be a little small.

I would be all over it if it could happen....I just don't see it unless they have a lead on Howard
