I noticed a some articles the last couple days (Rumor Sites) talking about the possibility of this trade.  Does anyone think this would be a good deal for Atlanta?

1.  Hell no
2.  Link #1 is based off of link #2 (bleacherreport), which link #2 is a fan site where ANYONE can go and write a post so it has zero credibility.
3.  Link #2 is based off of an ESPN Insider article that posts 5 fantasy trades for Paul Pierce, which was discussed here on Hawksquawk a couple of weeks ago.

Quote from link #1:

The article has the Celtics trading their aging star to the Atlanta Hawks for Josh Smith

Trading Josh Smith and a lesser player for Paul Pierce

Paul Pierce's struggles have been widely documented this year, shooting his lowest points per 36 minutes of his career (19.4)

Gosh, please ASG get this done!  Please trade our 2nd best and most talented player for a 34 year old aging punk who most Hawks fans hate and who is also having the worst season of his career.  Oh and yeah we won't mind seeing you have to throw in Teague or Zaza to make the salaries match up either.

The only reason I'd say no is the age.  If Pierce were eight years younger, it would be a done deal.  That being said, I don't think the Celtics would do this deal.  Pierce maybe a lesser athlete than Josh, but he still has more basketball skill.

I was thinking the same exact thing Dolefan.  Most Hawk fans I know cannot stand Pierce, myself included.  I thought this trade would really tick off the small base of really dedicated fans the team has.   Which is why I have plenty of confidence someone at Atlanta Spirit probably LOVES the idea.

actually paul pierce has been ballin lately. The reason for the bad start was because of his legs. For the past 10 games hes been averaging like. 22 pg 5 rebs and 7 assist but there is no way they are gonna trade because the celtics are not high on josh smith.

Pierce is 3 times the player Josh is even at his age.

This would be one horrible, horrible move. Age!

Plus PP is a terrible person and his old man's game is hard to watch.
