So apparently Sullinger has been red flagged by team doctors for having a back issue that they fear might shorten his career and is causing his stock to drop. Going by the Pendegraft piece where he mentioned eyeing size, guys who can rebound and emphasis on coming in and contributing now, if Sullinger is available at #23 do the Hawks pick him? Other scenarios are where they can trade back with Golden State perhaps for the #30 and #35 for #23 to lessen the salary commitment similar to the Damion James/former namesake Jr. deal Sund pulled. It seems like the perfect scenario considering that all signs are pointing to "WLOC rides again!" and I remember how bummed the board was that management didn't give an effort to acquire DeJuan Blair especially when he was free falling and the team was in desperate need of rebounding.

From the sounds of his agent (though they can spin a twizzler straw into gold) this all could be overblown and Sullinger could turn into a steal just like Blair did.

I still don't see him slipping outside of the lottery. This has been known for months. Blair issue was knees, that's more serious.

I like Sullinger. Considering he has been redflaged, I think it's possible to pick him with the 23 pick.
I'm not sure he fits though. What role do you think he could have for us ?

He wouldn't make it past 15 without question.

He really doesn't fit but he is clearly a talent to add. He is one of the most polished guys in the draft and can be a good player like Z-Bo.

Low post scorer and rebounder. That fits very well considering that we are a predominantly halfcourt team. Josh and Al's athleticism and defense will help him out on that end but he has the girth and length that he won't be pushed around in the post either.

From what I understand, if he drops that far down it means there is a really serious problem.

Pick and pop PF with a wide body to set screens and good mid range jumper. Below the rim PF but an excellent rebounder. Solid fundamental guy but low on athletic ability and slow moving.............Bascially the opposite style PF as Josh Smith. His lateral agility test was one of the ugliest things I ever seen at the combine. I can't see this guy defending face up PFs at all.......they will blow right by him.

Kevin Love lost alot of weight to add more lateral quickness to his game.......Sullinger will need to do the same. He reminds me of Love from a body type and physical aspect..........he does not have the court vision or passing ability of Love.

Some hard core yoga would do him wonders......and no I have never done yoga in my life but wife does :^).........It does wonders ;^)

Same was said about Blair who fell from the lottery all the way to the 37th pick in the draft, 3 years so far and he's still producing for the Spurs despite having no ACLs. GMs just don't want to take the risk of investing guaranteed money into a guy who might have a preexisting medical issue because that may prevent the insurance from covering it if they do go down. The Hawks are in win now mode so he fits perfectly seeing as they currently arent too worried about how the roster will look in 2-3 years so why would they care about how a player is doing in that same distance.

Obviously, I personally would prefer a more longterm approach but management hasn't any f*cks left to give over what fans think about the future of the team so they might as well try to maximize the present when given the opportunity.

I think Sullinger does fit. He's a scorer and rebounder. I just don't want him to be like Grandmama and have to reinvent his game when his lift goes.
I'm getting real high on Nicholson. I like the fact that he has great footwork and room to grow physically. He also has a very high BBIQ and is a smart guy (Physics Major).

We don't pass the ball to the post well. We don't move the ball well. It would be hard to unitize him to the best of his capabilities. He would help but wouldn't be a good fit with our personnel.

The PnP really isn't a key part of his game. His low post game is really good, probably the best in the class.

LJ had super serious lift coming out of UNLV. Sullinger doesn't have that LJ above the rim game at all.

I think he will have to be in the NBA. He has a good mid range jumper and plays below the rim. His low post game won't be the same in the NBA. There will be longer and more atheltic players to give him more trouble.

Sullinger tries to say he can be like Elton Brand, who was also slightly undersized in height..........but Brand has super long arms and was more athletic coming out of Duke. Brand's reach equates to most 7 footers. Brand was a #1 overall pick for a reason.......he has aa incredible 7'5.5'' wingspan (longer then Fab Melo) and a 9'2'' standing reach (equaling the 7' Fab Melo).

Sullinger has better footwork than Brand and both are decent overall athletes who can dunk when given room. Brand length didn't really show outside of defense. We must remember, Shelden had great length as well. I care how they use their tools more than their tools alone.

Sullinger would be the best player available if he slipped to 23. IMHO, best player available trumps team needs unless they happen to be one in the same. I highly doubt Sullinger slips that far though. Right now though, Quincy Miller may be the BPA at 23. He is a poor man's Durant AND he could step in at SF immediately. Jeffrey Taylor is a close second due to his athleticism.
