The Power Rankings sort of sparked this idea....

Atlanta trades:  C Theo Ratliff (6.6 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 0.8 apg in 30.9 minutes)
PF Chris Crawford (2.3 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.0 apg in 7.9 minutes)
PG Dan Dickau (0.4 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.0 apg in 5.2 minutes)
Atlanta receives:  SF Shane Battier (10.6 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.3 apg in 25.6 minutes)
PG Jason Williams (11.4 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 7.1 apg in 29.5 minutes)
PF Stromile Swift (8.9 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 0.6 apg in 19.9 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +21.6 ppg, +0.2 rpg, and +7.2 apg.

Memphis trades:  SF Shane Battier (10.6 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.3 apg in 25.6 minutes)
PG Jason Williams (11.4 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 7.1 apg in 29.5 minutes)
PF Stromile Swift (8.9 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 0.6 apg in 19.9 minutes)

PF Chris Crawford (2.3 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.0 apg in 8 games)
PG Dan Dickau (0.4 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.0 apg in 5 games)

Why would Jerry West take that trade?  He gets Theo...and nothing else.  While the Hawks get a legit 6th man/weaker starting SF.  Proven PG that is improving steadily.  A PF that is showing improvement every single day.

The Grizz get:  Dickau, a letdown.  Ratliff, decent shot blocker but doesn't rebound for a crap.  Crawford...who doesn't do anything...

well, it's speculated that little UCLA Watson is running things (in combo with Miller) as well as JWill did...but without the contract. Now whether this is just short term fabrication (my thought) or the real deal, that's debatable.

Battier and Stromile's contracts are up at the end of the season anyhow...and with the current contracts/logjams at their positions, and given their current places on the depth charts, they won't be getting tons of pt...
