"EXTREME MAKEOVER"
Does anybody care about the Atlanta Hawks? The city has largely ignored them and another disastrous season. Coach Terry Stotts has had his differences with Jason Terry, Theo Ratliff and Abdur-Rahim, who has yet to experience a winning season in his eight-year career. The new owners should dump everyone and start fresh.

Can't tell you how disappointed I am at the Hawks' disinterest in exchanging Shareef Abdur-Rahim (and Chris Crawford) for Rasheed Wallace. Think what a tasteless headline it would've made: "Reef Dealt For Weed."

Trash talking:
The Atlanta Hawks had their fourth sellout of the season last week when 19,635 fans crammed in Philips Arena to see the Hawks and Indiana Pacers. Pacers forward Ron Artest wasn't impressed.
"If they don't start getting more fans and getting more support, they should move them to another city or another state," Artest told the media. "They need more support."
The Hawks are last in the league in attendance average at 14,047. As part of a retro theme, both teams wore throwback uniforms and the Hawks sold upper-level seats for $7.50. The Hawks posted their largest crowd since Michael Jordan's last game in Atlanta.
"Those dollar tickets really helped them out," Artest said to reporters.
Next coach:
Terrell Brandon was quoted in the New York Times as saying he wouldn't mind coaching. He's considering an offer from a group of investors who want to put an American Basketball Association franchise in Portland, Ore. Brandon is on the Atlanta Hawks' injured list.
"I thought it was a joke when I got the call," Brandon told the Times. "I'll at least think about it. I never thought about coaching, but I've always been a coach because I'm a point guard, so it can't be that hard."

Shareef Abdur-Rahim - #3 - Power Forward - 6'9" - 245 lbs
Jan 24 2004 - Shareef Abdur-Rahim was at the center of speculation Friday about a three-way deal between the Hawks, Blazers and Knicks that would include Rasheed Wallace and Keith Van Horn. The rumor has Abdur-Rahim going to New York, Van Horn to Portland, and Rasheed
Wallace to Atlanta, where his free agent contract could come off their books after the season. Doesn't look that good for the Blazers, though, who only get Van Horn and would probably need to receive Kurt Thomas as well in a larger deal.

Atlanta Hawks guard Jacque Vaughn (11) goes to the basket past Detroit Pistons guard Richard Hamilton, left, in the second half Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, in Auburn Hills, Mich. The Hawks beat the Pistons 91-82.
