26) Hawks (26)

Surprised Pistons on Sunday, and surprised Spurs before that, but still waiting for first win streak (0-13 after a win) and a 100-point game (O for last 20).

7. Boris Diaw, Hawks (No. 21)

Key Stats: 39 GP, 3.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.3 apg, 23.8 mpg
Breakdown: Atlanta has won four of its last seven games, and the do-it-all 6-8 swingman from France has certainly been doing his part. Over his last seven games, Diaw is averaging 4.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.14 steals. Amazingly, despite averaging 23.8 minutes per game, Diaw has yet to score in double-figures in a game.

25) Atlanta Hawks (25)

They won at Detroit (by nine) on Sunday to make it three of five, with their next five at Philips Arena. Their key is to win big; at week's end they were 0-6 in games decided by fewer than five points.

THE DAILY (1-26-04).
http://www.hoopsworld.com/article_6953.shtml

ATLANTA HAWKS: With a five-game homestand coming up starting Tuesday the Atlanta Hawks thought they might be able to make a bit of noise in the East and get back into the playoff race. Apparently they decided to start a game early on that, holding the Detroit Pistons at bay for the entire game and pulling out a 91-82 victory in Detroit. This begs the question - Why can't they play like this all the time?

The possibility of Hawks PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim still is there, but Atlanta's ownership is not in place, and the team likely won't make any moves until it is. Blazers G.M. John Nash has been patient with the Wallace situation, and that has driven up Wallace's value.

Court coverage (1-25-04).

Not his fault:

The Atlanta Hawks had another losing week (1-2), but power forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim continues to shine. He averaged 26.3 points and eight rebounds and shot 59.4% from the field.
