  1. Yeah, I mean, I get as frustrated as the next Hawks fan with Smoove. Is it time for a new scenery for him? Yeah. I think its best for him and the team.. But the personal shots get old. lol...I wouldn't be too happy bringing Pierce in here either.
  2. While I'll agree, that 9 years is a long time to have a player, and he's frustrating. I get it. But the hate he gets around here, "moron", "idiot"..."I won't be a Hawks fan if he's brought back"..... Well, then, good riddance. My loyalty goes past one player, and if he's brought back, I'll still be watching every night like I do now. I remember that 13 win team. We've now made the playoffs 6 straight years. Smoove has been a big part of that success. Are we NBA championship caliber? No....but who really is? Miami, OKC, and San Antonio. That's all I see.
  3. Kyle Korver is in his contract year, documented. He has done nothing but prove he deserves his last "meaningful" contract playing basketball. We wouldn't be fighting for homecourt in the playoffs without him...with this group. He's meant a lot to the 2012-13 Hawks, so he can say and do whatever he wants. I hope we're able to bring him back. He may be unhappy being a Hawk, but his play on the court would never suggest otherwise.
  4. Great posts north....while I agree that getting rid of his contract was a good move going forward, there's no denying what he did for the Hawks. We're in the playoffs for the sixth straight year largely because of him. Although he didn't have a hand this year, he created a somewhat culture of competing in Atlanta.
  5. I don't necessarily agree if he should be our coach....I just think he's going to get another contract. And if I'm DF, in his shoes, after what he did to the roster, he's going to deserve it.
  6. Horford isn't going anywhere. By far, not even close, he's the cornerstone of this rebuild, if you even wanna call it that, given we just clinched a spot and are a #5. Jeff Teague isn't going anywhere either. Too many really good PG's out there, no team is going to offer him more money to a point we can't re-sign him. Which is fine, because he's young and has had a great year. My guess is, we get him at a really good price for 4 years, and 2 years from now we're gonna be thinking what a bargain! (Kinda like Horf) For all you LD haters....sorry. He's going to get another contract. Maybe 2-3 years, but still...and honestly, he deserves it. Look at the hand he was dealt prior to the beginning of the season. New GM, comes in and brings in a bunch of expiring contracts and makes those trades. It's a recipe for disaster and re-build. Look where we are....Ferry has to recognize that...and LD will get another couple of seasons.
  7. It's hard to believe six years in a row... Congrats Hawks and Squawk, cuz were the best fans. Period.
  8. We just beat a playoff team, on the road,. He had 23 points, 9 boards, 4 assists, I'm guessing at least 2 blocks and 2 steals. You dont know what you got until its gone.
  9. Chris Crawford....wow. Haven't thought about him forever. Gawd...did he break the bank on us because he had that one good playoff game? Was it the Knicks....I'm thinking? I say no to Bynum. He's a headcase minus the injuries.
  10. I've been a staunch Smoove supporter, and I think Korver is a good piece, specialist. But if that's our big "splash" this summer, I'll be disappointed. That says to me we're happy being a 4-7 seed for awile. Which isn't all bad, I suppose. But, to complete for a title, that won't cut it.
  11. It was louder yelling for Korver to miss those FT's. Really sad... I don't blame him to want to go back to Chicago or Utah. It's the damn Lakers, and your home crowd wants you to miss... It's f***ing stupid. Sorry.
  12. I try and steer away from these threads, but I can't. I've watched every Hawks game on TV as long as I can remember, and been to 5 live (I live in Ohio)... Let alone dunks, or long threes, whatever.... But when I hear the crowd groan because, KOBE or DWIGHT don't get a whistle foul???!!! That's not right for a home team crowd... I don't get it.
  13. I remember Michael Jordan starting this trend, mainly because he used to "tug" on his shorts while playing defense. So, he requested longer shorts. Once that happened, being an icon, people wanted to be like him, so did other NBA teams. Then, once the Fab Five from Michigan bursted onto the scene with their "baggy" shorts, it was over. They were the first to wear black socks while playing basketball as well.
  14. I'm not intentionally being negative, it's just the truth. But I'm usually a half glass full guy...so lets move up!
  15. Hate to be a Debby Downer, but were also only 1 game out of seventh to Boston... Who we play tomorrow. And 3/12 from 8th. We're making the playoffs, I just don't wanna get swept by LeBron in the first round.
  16. I would have liked Turner, but I'm biased... Watched every game he played in college. He did show flashes of being a 15,6, and 4 guy in Philly. Spencer wouldn't have been a terrible gamble either. But for Smoove, I'll take the chance of re-signing him... Or the cap space. I think DF made the right move there...
  17. Let's not forget, the dude is only 24 years old. I think a priority of DF this off-season is to re-sign him at a fair and considerable price. His glaring improvement to me is obvious, his shooting. It's apparent to me that he's put time in and worked hard, especially on his three's..
  18. As an NBA player, no. I'd rather have Pargo at this point in the season. Talent wise, potential, obviously age, -- I'd prefer Mack.
  19. I agree with everything in this post, except taking the money out of the equation. That's a huge thing to look over...In 82 games, the last possession, I'd rather have my beagle out there guarding Kobe for a last possession than Joe. Though I was a fan, I still can't fathom the $$$ we gave him, or the fact we were able to get rid of him that quick...
  20. He's not good on camera. In fact, I think the only reason he's getting these gigs is because of how great of a writer he is. He makes sense and intelligent. If you start his book on basketball, be ready to invest time. I couldn't put it down. I read his prior book on theSox'...and I don't follow anyone but the Reds, but his writing is compelling. Anyway, I think he's dead on on over spending on a shooting wing...I don't think Ferry will make that mistake.
  21. I agree. We need a two or a three that can score. No offense to Korver, but he would be perfect off the bench. If Lou comes back healthy, with Teague, I like that back court. Still need that three...
  22. I'm a fan of "Sports Guy" and actually read his books. I think he's knows what he's talking about, especially basketball. Check out #5 on his list. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9002028/the-best-bargains-nba More importanly is our Smoove dilemma...want him around, but just not break the bank. There are some good reasons why in that column...
  23. Exactly. Nailed it.BTW, the Horford quote is totally bogus, right? Just asking...
