  1. That's assuming Woody continues on the path he is on. You could look at it from the opposite perspective in that Sund is giving him a chance to succeed on his own. I agree with you that Sund is leaving Woody out there to sink or swim, and is holding him accountable for decisions - whether positive or negative.
  2. Great ideas. In theory. Winning 55 plus games, a 2 seed in the East, and getting to the ECF is extremely lofty. I know goals need to be high but... Broken record... unless we address the "O" factor, teams will simply refer to the 09 playoffs as a way to beat the Hawks. It's not hard to prepare for us, and we're not the lowly old Hawks anymore. Unless we change things up, the blueprint for defending us is simple and wins will become much more difficult in the regular season.
  3. You don't think Chillz is a significant up grade over Mo Evans?? Money and salary notwithstanding.
  4. I don't think Van Gundy is the second coming of Red Auerbach or anything...but he saw something in the defense that allowed him to make adjustments, and it worked. I just want to see the Hawks mix it up, try different things if it's not working.
  5. LOL. That's a bit harsh...and wrong. Josh Smith is not garbage. He oozes talent, part of which has been untapped.
  6. Amazing what a little coaching can do. Orlando was terrible offensively in the first half, save Howard. I know Cleveland plays terrific Half court D, but.....Van Gundy made a simple adjustment. Let's try something else!!! Wow....genius! Simple pick and pop with Rashard, easy buckets. Cleveland had no answer, Orlando got back in the game, eventually won. Take notes Woody! Something isn't working, you make adjustments. Proof was in the pudding last night.
  7. Rehashing Sund's comments with Bradley. MB: You liked Acie Law … RS: I liked him. I didn’t draft him – I inherited him – but I thought it was a pretty solid draft pick, and I liked him when I saw him in college. Like most rookies, he didn’t get a lot of playing time. We knew when we brought in Flip that [Law’s] minutes were going to be suspect if Flip was a good fit, which he was. So he ended up being the ninth man, which is typical of a lot of guys in their second year. And I really thought the first half of the season he was contributing in that ninth-man role. Then he got hurt. And then, as the season progressed – and this is typical – [Woodson] tightened the rotation. That’s what you do because you want to get into the playoffs. My interpretation, if Sund was satisfied with Acie being the "ninth" man, this can't be good for Acie's development as a Hawk. Especially if we draft a PG, or resign Bibbs and or Flip. The scenario looks bleak for Acie every being the type of player for the Hawks that we envisioned at the 9 pick. I can't see Woodson making a public statement that a focus in 09/10 is to develop Acie more as a player. I don't think he would want to add the pressure or hold himself accountable if that didn't happen.
  8. I kept waiting for the stands to collapse.
  9. Yeah! You could put his face on any kind of joke and it's funny. Odd looking man. Even funnier woman.
  10. Ditto. Although, I didn't used to feel that way. I thought Crean was an arrogant, pompus a-hole. But, after watching Indiana play this year - with the cupboard bare - and the enthusiasm and effort they gave, was awesome. It was all Crean. I was clearly wrong. Dude must walk 5 miles on the sidelines during the game! Coaching box to baseline, over and over, and over again....
  11. Thanks for the insight. Being a fan of the Big Ten, I was happy to see Tubby join the conference. I'm a homer, but getting Tubby, Beilein from WVU, and Tom Crean from Marquette...the coaching in the Big Ten has improved dramatically. Anyway.... Calipari is one helluva a recruiter, obviously...I think Kentucky will be right back among the nation's best...
  12. There was something more to the Tubby issue, wasn't there? He didn't choose to leave Kentucky for the Big Ten.
  13. I think to win 47 games in a season, a team must have talent playing the game. You''re a big Hawks fan, you watch the games. It's not like we're out executing teams on the offensive end. We score the ball on sheer talent alone. We make jumpers we win, we miss, we lose. Coach Woodson is not shooting the shots.
  14. I would like to hope that wouldn't happen. If we were going to tank to get Woody out of here, I think it would have happened by now.
  15. ...is interviewing Sund tomorrow. He's taking questions from fans. Squawk be heard! http://blogs.ajc.com/mark-bradley-blog/200...-for-rick-sund/
  16. If we keep the majority of this year's squad together, we'll win 35 games just rolling the ball out there and playing. We did that pretty much this year and notched 47.
  17. I'm not holding my breath. Haven't seen it during his tenure, no reason to think much will change.
  18. The goal is to win the championship, though. Bringing in Dirk would help our chances! Never happen, pipe dream.
  19. It's frustrating. But that's what makes us so special... If we continually decide to stand by the Hawks through everything. I applaud you!! :thumbsupsmileyanim:
