  1. I think assigning an offensive responsibility to someone would be the first move...
  2. LOL. I think that could be a little skewed...I mean, when teams INTENTIONALLY foul to put a player purposefully at the line - in the case of Shaq - your argument holds no water...
  3. Captain Obvious. Do you work for the media? It seems the phrase "a very athletic team" is the universal response by everyone that has watched the Hawks play 3 games this year. So generic. I mean, every team in the NBA is athletic.
  4. I don't think Hawksfanatic was referring to the Mark Price hey-deys....or when LeBron showed up. He was speaking of the over a decade ineptness the Cavs experienced after Price, and before LeBron. You're coming off as a typical bandwagon jumper....hop on when they're decent - 20 years ago, or when they draft a "King"...
  5. Nope. That was all Hawks. They played poorly. I don't know why you're denying the fact LeBron has an advantage in officiating. If I were you, I'd embrace it! I would love for the Hawks to have a player the NBA drools over, uber-talented, and can work the refs. It's not a bad thing if you're a fan!!! It's bad for the other teams.
  6. Joe Johnson does not get the same respect from officials as LeBron James does. That's dumb to even suggest. I don't care what numbers, averages, state. LeBron is an icon. He's the face of the NBA. Fans love him, obviously...and the longer he plays, and his team, the better PR for the league. That being said, maybe LeBron has "earned" his preferential treatment, I dunno. All I do know is, Joe Johnson just isn't a common name, he's a common player in the refs eyes compared to LeBron.
  7. It is what it is. LeBron getting the benefit of doubt on any call he's involved in throughout the game is going to happen. To beat the Cavs, it's just another obstacle the Hawks must overcome. Is it fair? Probably not. Is it realisitic? Yes.
  8. Joe went on to say it's not an "excuse" in regards to being tired. Then why say it? Maybe as a white flag to Woody?
  9. No. Didn't that dude go like 4-5 games without a foul or something stupid like that? Really, how is that possible?
  10. Huge additions. There's an argument that the young guys "finally came of age" and Flip and Mo were at the right place at the right time. But, those two vets made the difference. Trying not to be bias, if BK were looking for another GM job around the league, I'm sure his experience with the Hawks would be viewed as positive. He can take credit for getting most of the pieces here. As far as his draft choices...you can't be judged entirely on those decisions. The draft is a gamble, it's a crapshoot. Nobody knew when he drafted Marvin, Chris Paul would be as good as he is. I mean, you can look at the flip side, drafting Smoove. I bet he would feel good about the Hawks' success. Well, everyone except Woody.
  11. Well, the points you made earlier in this thread concerning Bibby, I think are true. He's showing his worth this post season. If this carries over into the Cleveland series, and we make it competitive (or win!), I think Sund will make a generous offer to keep him around as our point guard a few more years. Same goes for Woody as our coach, much to the chagrin of many.
  12. True....but how could he argue? Bibby hit the nail on the head. If Woodson, all the Hawks players, fans, media, squawkers, etc. know Smoove should not be shooting those shots... MOVE HIM!!! Otherwise, he is WIDE open. Which is exactly what Miami wanted, and Cleveland wants. Woody must change it. He can laugh it off now, or like he did in the game, but it's obvious adjustments must be made before Cleveland.
  13. By stars, I'm going out on a limb and saying LeBron and Joe?? :) I think it's safe to say Cleveland would be much worse off without LeBron than the Hawks would be without JJ. Take LeBron off the Cavs, Hawks in 5.
  14. Man, wouldn't that be a nice problem to have??
  15. I don't think there's a clear cut answer to the question in this thread. It has to be a team effort. Generic answer, but it's the truth. You can't expect one player to take the load of guarding LeBron on his own....
  16. Wow! Mark Bradley of the AJC used the adjective "Great" to describe Woody. Granted, just one instance....but that's a first to me!!! lol : Game tied, first quarter, 10 seconds left, Heat ball. Woodson — whom I’ve sought to fire a half-dozen times — called for his men to give a foul, which Zaza did. And Woodson inserted Mario West, who harassed Wade into a lousy crosscourt pass that Mike Bibby intercepted. And James Jones fouled Bibby, who made a pair to give the Hawks a lead they’d never lose. Great coaching.
  17. http://blogs.ajc.com/hawks/2009/05/04/the-...-james-version/
  18. “If you don’t want me to throw to him put him somewhere else,” Bibby shouted. “He’s wide [@*&$%] open. Wide open. What do you want me to do? If you don’t want him shooting that then put him somewhere else. You tell him.” After getting it back as good as he gave it, Woodson crossed his arms, did a pirouette and smiled at everyone watching as he strolled back toward the Hawks’ bench. I laughed when I read this. I think Woody is scared of Smoove. He's quoted as saying "we're not going to tell him NOT to shoot". Yet, he yells at our PG for passing the ball to him. Good for Bibby shouting back, he needed to.
  19. I'm glad this was mentioned. I'm seeing Vick, Chris Henry?? C'mon guys, these are men with severe off the court legal issues. Felony crimes. Comparing Smoove to these two is a shot at his character.
  20. I didn't interpret Diesel's post as a trade Marvin thread. If Bibby sticks around, and we re-sign Flip and Z...any other moves the Hawks MAY make would, for sure, involve Marvin. I don't think it was hate towards Marvin.
  21. Hey, if Marv can hit six threes, and if Smoove can produce buckets with McHale like finesse, we can beat anyone!
  22. The game will be physical. All 5 up until now have been, I see the trend continuing. However, I don't think we're going to see Heat players intentionally going after Smoove or putting themselves in a poor position if there is a game 7. The Heat can't afford to be short-handed for a possible game 7. The Hawks either for that matter.
  23. I'm reading as a "call out" to all the Miami bigs. I think Wade is saying Zaza is outworking the Heat. As far as feeling it on "O" boards, Wade is telling his boys to get a body on him and rough him up, be aggressive.
