If we trade too much for Siakam...  Every post I make will start off...

Hey Cyde, what your boy doing?

I just need to know what will the pick up of Siakam mean for JJ?

JJ moves to SF. JJ and Siakam would give the front court the best passing combination we've had since Horford/Millsap. JJ  hitting so well at three still gives spacing so Siakam can operate in the mid range and post.

    They should do this yesterday.

That was in the offseason, remember. I'm honestly more interested in the Jones/Murphy/Lakers 1st for DKM deal but I don't see either happening.

I know MN winning, but think ATl can still make a run at Kat at deadline?  I know @NBASupes said it was pretty much a done deal during the summer.

No. All of three of us were reporting on that during the summer. We said it was going to happen but one of the new MN owners got cold feet and wouldn't sign off on the deal. He wanted to see what a healthy KAT would do with Gobert.

There's no way they trade KAT with how great the TWolves have been this year.

  3. I've already said this in this thread. And I mentioned in the trade thread.

This team does not function. I would move DJM, Capela, Hunter and Bogi for young players and assets. Build around Trae, JJ, OO, Kobe and the young players coming in. Take our lumps and hope we hit another pick in the lottery because this team is a lottery team even if we don't move the veterans.

Moving those players open up spots and salary for other players and hopefully finds a team that fits Quin's system better ESPECIALLY on defense.

Nothing that has been said previously, makes me believe this Hawksquawk  N.O. rumor.

But just to delve a little farther..

    1. So are we trading JJ or giving up on him and making him a BU?
    2. So is there a trade for Dre or will he or Murphy be coming off the bench?
    3. What happens to Bey?
    4. Herbert Jones is 6'8"  210 and averages 3.9 rpg.  How does this help?
    5. Murphy is 6'8" 208 and averages 4.0 rpg.   How does this help?
    6. What happens to the SG position?  We move Bogi in as a starter?

Is somebody listening to Little Nicky call out trades he made on 2K?

Oh... I know...  This is just a part of a series of moves that the Hawks will make to bring in players that are not superstars.   Or maybe... we're trading Dre, Bogi, Patty, AJ and getting Zach Lavine and Jabari Smith before doing that deal.  Yeah that 2k is special.  Especially when you take injuries off.

    To answer some of this:

Herbert Jones is easily one of the best perimeter defenders in the entire NBA. He is on defense what we were told Hunter would be. He would be easily the best perimeter defender we've had since Thabo was here. You slide him in at the 2 to play next to Trae and you finally have a defensive minded guard/forward that can be a great POA defender. He's like a Tony Allen difference in the backcourt.

Look at Murphy's shooting last season and this season. Just look at it. He helps your spacing and he's a scary af shooter if you leave him open. Remember Korver? Hell, look at what Bogi can do. A very good, naw, ELITE shooter at a high enough volume that it matters. You put him in at SF. He's also a decent to good defender as well.

So in this specific case if we only did that one trade we immediately get better on defense as well as having either a good shooting new SF or an effective shooting SF off the bench. You can also play Murphy at PF. So if we had for example JJ/Hunter/Murphy/Bey that's having real depth on your team at every forward position.

If we did that one trade just in a vacuum and did nothing else, literally nothing else, this team gets better. Herbert Jones would be what everyone wanting Alex Caruso would be for us.

Don’t realistically see what salary and players we can send for Pelicans that they want  for Ingram or Zion let alone we actually want them.

Murray, Capela, Hunter, AJ...I can keep going. There's definitely good matches between both teams if they wanted to go that way.

Yea, but does Presti like Trae's game? He's on a max, it would be a big commitment for them. Plus, SGA is doing a good job for them.  I don't see them making that trade in the near term.

You move sga to sg. I don't want this to happen but I can see it

still not hard to really imagine Trae being ok going back home, OKC is loaded with picks.  I know he wants to make it work here but If they came called with something crazy who knows

This is my personal "I don't want to say it out loud" most likely scenario if Trae asks for a trade.

Just to note, Cavs have gone 5-1 since Garland and Mobley have both been out, but the Hawks struggle missing one guy. :blanky:.

The depth of functional NBA ROTATION PLAYERS is non-existent.

It is almost like we traded two starters for nothing just so the 7th richest billionaire owner could avoid the LT. It is almost like we also had a 25 million or so TPE to trade for a player OR use the full MLE in the offseason.

But naw. Tony is happy to avoid that LT.

@Sothron, Ive been giving you a hard time on the soft rebuild but that's basically what they are looking to do.

They are not open to trading either 2024 pick but open to trading future picks and pick swaps. Open to massive trades where we get a superstar and give up most of the roster for the superstar and scraps.

It's clear. They want to a fresh 2024 with Trae and the other superstar. That's what their plan is. It seems like OO is in the picture for now with Kobe and Gueye.

Thanks. I think that is exactly what will happen.

I do not believe this at all.  Ressler attends every single game— hes a billionaire.  Why would he do that if he was just interested in flipping the team to growth his wealth?  He could be anywhere in the world doing anything at all and he spends his time watching this team play.  Its pretty clear to me the guy is invested in the team beyond just money, even if he oversteps his boundaries with the FO.

Donald Sterling was a billionaire that attended every game. Every one. He never cared about winning. Ressler wants to flip this franchise. Don't be shocked if this team is sold over the next three years.

    Chicken or the egg.

This is how Ressler weasels his away around just saying he won't pay the LT. He knows you have to pay it to be a serious contender. He won't pay it. He is only into this team to flip it for way more than he bought it for.
