What's the word on Hunter not showing up for his exit interview?
I think it was excused for some kind of personal reason. Hunter was not a fan of Quin at first but he really bought in last season and had by far IMO his best season.

There was more coming from Utah than just George. The Hawks are not giving Murray away.

Is this a change from wanting to trade down and take Edey? I feel like I read that from you but could be misremembering.
I'm fine with taking Edey but not at #1. I want Sarr at #1, Clingan would be acceptable there as well but IMO it would be a stretch.

I'm also not going to buy into the OO gets destroyed by bigger centers talk. I've seen OO defend Embiid as well as anyone in the NBA can defend him and also have the versatility to defend Giannis very well one on one. I think too many have taken one game where Andre Drummond had a career night for himself against the Hawks, and that has suddenly become extrapolated to when the Hawks face bigger centers.
Every big center that I can remember has good to really good nights against OO. It's not just Drummond. OO has some games where he can defend someone well because his athletic ability negates them (Giannis is the best example of this) but when it comes to sheer size...he struggles. To put it mildly.

I would take Sarr, but it isn't because I feel there is a gaping hole at center, because that comment completely diminishes Okongwu's real talent as a center and gets me back to the premise that I absolutely hate which is that Okongwu isn't big enough so we should just ignore his real talent.
I've seen OO get destroyed by enough big centers to want off that train. He has talent and I wouldn't just give him away but I would prefer a bigger center. My dream lineup for next season assuming no trades would be a front court of Sarr/OO/Jalen and I dgaf about where the play on offense because defense is where it would really shine with each guy's strengths matching up well to the other guy's weaknesses. Sarr's ability to roam and switch and be a rim protector would make that a very hard matchup defensively.

Sarr basically destroyed G league Ignite in both games they played last season and they have TWO prospects almost guaranteed to be top 10 picks this draft.
For me personally I would take Sarr at #1, if for some reason they don't want him then take Clingan. We have a gaping hole at center IMO and we need improvement there.

I would be totally fine with taking Clingan because a big guy that's a defensive anchor and can do what he does on offense is what we need. We desperately need a big guy that can do more than what Capela brings

You don't draft someone especially at #1 and expect them to come in and be a 26 year old veteran. You take who you feel with the right coaching/development will be the best player over time. These knocks on prospects about how they don't have strength or this or that skill...well...yeah. They are kids. They have to develop.

I really don't think most people on here appreciate the time and energy Supes spends on his draft breakdowns and prospect scouting. This isn't some random drive by evaluation he has with Edey. There's research into it.

They are not considering Edey though. Not one bit
According to what I'm hearing as well as the other insiders, yes, they are. Just not at #1.

The deal fell through because Dejounte did not want to go to toronto. He told the hawks he would take the paycut if they didn't send him there
I said this back when it happened as well. DJM literally signed the extension to stop the trade from happening.

The guys that say lottery are saying 10, and yet the other teams aren't clamoring for Edey at one. Says a lot. Insiders....yall are now saying they are discussing Edey....tell me they are mentioning at one.. I'm going to just say..bs. If they are discussing Edey, it's in a trade down. I stand on that. If Edey goes one, the Hawks aren't doing the picking.
I realize I am not a mod but calling someone delusional is just insulting. Supes it not delusional. You can say his belief that Edey should be #1 is a reach and make the same point.
As about the insiders...I've said more than once they are considering Edey but NOT at #1. They are definitely considering him but not at #1. His private workout(s) with the team will be telling.

Hold up, I remember you stating Reseller wanted to keep the pick? So how can he be happy about the pick, but also scared to keep the pick because what it would cost? Is Tony this clueless about the price for a #1 pick?
Oh boy....this is where we go into why we haven't talked about this in public until now.
If you are an owner and your FO tells you this draft doesn't have a real #1 pick, we can trade that pick, get more assets and get a guy we feel has the same value...and save the owner $$$ for not paying #1 pick money...what would you do?

Whoa! Is that breaking insider news ?
I haven’t read that from any of you guys. I wasn’t expecting it to even be on the table since it’s the hawks first time ever winning the lottery but on the flip side, good that they don’t care about that and much rather build a winner.
i am ok with sending Murray and our 1st pick to SA for #4 and #8 plus Vassell.
Yes, it is the first one of us has mentioned it on here. We've talked about it privately. I think trading the pick would be a disaster PR move and it would be more about Ressler saving money by not having to pay the #1 pick salary scale.

This is interesting. very serious about Edey but not at #1…that tells me they may be willing to trade the number 1 pick.
It is very much in play

Lol i gotta save this thread to come back to a couple years from now. Gonna have some real gems to read through
To be fair to Supes:
Edey is easily the best player in college the last two years. There's no one else even close to him IMO.
Edey's proven skill sets are more than solid for the NBA.
Edey's athletic measurements were WAY better than NBA scouts/execs thought it would be. He tested well beyond what even his biggest supporters thought he would.
Add those three things up and Edey is going to be a top 10 pick in the draft. I can tell you and I know the other insiders can as well frankly that the Hawks are in fact very serious about Edey just not at #1.

You need to get this message to the F.O. somehow, because I doubt your boy is even their radar at #1....
Do you think its even possible? I cant see it..
Its gonna be Sarr or Risacher IMO..
He is very much on the Hawks radar but not at #1.

The modern NBA is all about creating space on offense and closing space on defense. Sarr is tremendous at closing space on defense. He has shown tremendous upside equity as a floor spacer on offense.
You are back to saying once again that somehow in some alternate reality that Trae is better with a more limited big that will be played off the floor in the playoffs.
I agree 100% with the first paragraph. Look at OKC with Chet. It is night and day how he has closed down the paint and can so easily switch and close. He's even slighter than Sarr is in terms of bulk. None of that matters because his hands, reach and quickness makes up for his lack of strength.
I have never seen a 7'1" player move as fast as Sarr. He closes distance very well. He's a shot blocker and rim protector. You can put him in drop, you can let him switch, you can let him roam...you aren't worry about him.
I like Edey. But I want us to take Sarr because I think he can unlock our defense in a similar fashion like Chet has done with OKC.

To somebody who witnessed the Moon run n shoot live every game in Houston that’s insulting.
Funny I hated their guts and live in the Bay
I love Warren Moon. He had so many NFL years robbed because, let's be honest, racist white guys couldn't see past his color and see the incredible skills he had as a QB.

If Edey becomes a star and Sarr doesn't...Supes will never, ever let us forget it.
I do think Edey is going to have a good NBA career. I think Sarr will as well and I like Sarr's upside more than Edey's. Basically I'm gambling on a higher floor and lower ceiling over higher ceiling but much lower floor.
Whoever we take I will support them. As @NBASupes mentioned...go back and look at old draft threads from that draft. I was praying to God we took Deron Williams because he had the It factor. And he had a probably HOF career path until injuries just derailed the the last years of his career. CP3 I was more leery of about injuries but he's still going and is a definite HOF player. Marvin Superbust Williams...it still makes me sick to think about him.
Thankfully for me at least there is NO prospect in this draft I feel as strongly about as I did Deron Williams in that draft. Reed Sheppard is probably the closest but I know we're not taking him #1.

Sothron and I are generally on the same page and we are day and night on this one. I still love my brother and I will never hate on my brother, EVER
There are people that had Penix as a 2nd round prospect so to them, it was a massive reach.
For me, I loved it and I wanted Penix to sit a year.
I was being facetious about Penix. I had him as a mid to late first rounder. I'm scared of his injury history and his age. I just wanted the team to address the pass rush or the complete lack of any corners outside of AJ Terrell.
I just hate paying Kirk Cousins that kind of cheddar and then be like well he's got two years before Penix takes over. What if Cousins is playing great? Why would we kick out him to the curb for an unproven old at that point first time starter?
And...this is the Hawks forum lol we can discuss Penix in the other forum
Love you too bro. I never hate on you. We usually are on the same page about prospects and players in any sport.

Take the best player who can make impact today I say.
If we draft Edey I'll be surprised if not shocked but I'll 100% support him as I would any Hawk player not named Marvin F'ing Williams or Shellhead Williams. The only two Hawks in my lifetime fandom I never liked or supported.

Could we get back to discussing the Hawks? The Falcons wasted their #8 pick on a bum that will be almost 30 when he finally gets a chance to play. There's a forum to discuss how terrible of a draft pick it was.

Donovan Clingan or Alexander Sarr: Battle of 1st overall pick
in Homecourt
Posted
As I said in the other thread...you don't take the #1 pick because you want him to be the best player out of his rookie class in just their rookie season. You take whoever you feel with development will be the BEST player out of this class. Sarr playing backup minutes at 4/5 is totally fine.
He just turned 19. He literally spent his entire age 18 season in one of the most physical leagues in the world in the Aussie league. There's a reason why you've seen NBA front offices draft young kids that proved some chops there. The veterans in that league DGAF about prospects or someone's draft status. They play hard and physical. It is an excellent way to gauge if someone has that dog in them to rise to that level of physical play and still show their talent.
Sarr is young AF at just turning 19. Saying he has to start at NINETEEN is like saying Kobe and KG and TMac and whoever else that young HAD to start to prove their worth to their teams.
