Along with food......I have to decide if I'm gonna watch live or follow on twitter, since Woj,Shams etc. will tweet picks before Silver makes the announcement.

I think I'll wind up doing both. I think it is more exciting on TV,  but I"ll find myself getting antsy close to the time then announce the pick and will start checking twitter to see what Woj is saying (especially when we are on or near the clock).

Food for me tonight is going to be some homemade nachos, left over Chili's chicken fingers, and a Sweetwater variety pack to drink!

It’s a three player draft.  Obviously there will be guys selected after the third pick that produce, but right now nobody knows who that is.  Nobody wants mid lottery selections in a weak draft class.  Winning games last season only hurt this team.

Beyond what Peoriabird said about NOP, there are 3 teams that had a better record than us that wound up getting a better pick than us. Winning games doesn't matter as much with the new lottery odds.

  3. I'm really glad the Raptors pulled this off. I hated to see Thompson go down though. I'm not putting any asterisk on this championship, Leonard was the best player in the series and they went 3-0 in Golden State. That alone is impressive enough. Everyone will always talk about the injuries, but that is part of the game and they weren't coming from dirty Raptor play, like Dellavedova going low on Korver.

On a site note, did anybody see the Doris Burke interviews during the trophy presentation? I'm glad she is willing to ask some tough questions, but it was awkward and I'm thinking to myself just let these guys celebrate. She brought up free agency to Leonard, asked about Derozan to Lowry, asked Gasol about his old teammates in Memphis (with a vibe of you left for better things and they didn't get to win a championship this season), and I feel like she was trying to get something out of Nurse about Casey not being there. There might have been more, but Doris was dropping the hammer on them.

  4. I enjoyed the 14/15 and 15/16 Warriors when it was Steph and Klay leading their team. They were a great team and a lot of fun to watch. I'm pulling against them now because I'm tired of them winning, but it's really more of a Kevin Durant thing. When his Thunder blew the 3-1 lead against GS, he made the choice to not try to get better and beat them, but to join them and beat everyone else. Adding Durant to a recent championship winning team, also a team coming off a 73-9 season losing game 7 of the Finals, was just too much. I get that you usually know who is going to win the championship in the NBA, but they really took out a lot of joy of postseason basketball for me.

Anyone else notice that there have been ZERO posts about Schröder? It's like he's been forgotten already. I honestly didn't like trading him away at the time and throwing Trae into the fire but I just realized that I completely forgot about him.

I’ve checked some box scores to see how he is doing, but I don’t miss him. I think his best game was the preseason game against us. Do not forget though, we gave him up because he is so good, and our organization has zero intentions of winning games this year..

  6. Love the assist numbers from Trae. Even in the games where he has 5 or 6, you know he should have more if his teammates made shots or the bigs finished. I didn’t like his last two threes, very forced shots. He’s been fun to watch though and I’m glad we got the win! Only one turnover from Prince (5 for Baze). Let’s keep those numbers down for those guys and we should be competitive if we are playing well offensively.

I really feel like Travis should have gotten the protection down to top 3.

Me too, but at least it wasn’t something stupid like top 10 protected. The funny thing is, we should all be rooting for Doncic to succeed. The better be is the more likely it is we get that pick. Those who want him to fail because they want Trae to be better are hoping for a scenario that might hurt our rebuild.

  8. I'm glad we finally have basketball back! Year two of a rebuild is usually a lot more entertaining because you can start to watch players who are a part of your future develop.

The second quarter was ugly but there were some small positives in the game. Trae had a nice little stretch of scoring in the second half and probably should have had at least 3 more assists if guys would hit wide open shots. Prince looked good. The offensive output he had at the end of last year might not be a fluke, his shot was smooth and he missed a couple of layups that he probably should have made. I was also impressed with Spellman in his limited minutes. Looking forward to getting Collins back out there and seeing what type of chemistry he and Trae have developed so far.

That's worse case I'm thinking, if Dallas signs Boogie and someone else pick might be just outside lottery

All the more reason to hope LeBron goes to the Lakers. Dallas would have to be better than the 8 teams who made the playoffs last year + the Nuggets and Lakers.

  10. I gave it a B going with my assumption that Dallas will pick around 7-12 next year. If we have to wait a couple years to actually get that Dallas pick then I'd drop it down to a C. I also wish we kept our second round pick.

I hate this for him and hope he responds well. Alcohol is such a underrated drug. All these players and coaches just bleed money; but instead of taking a thirty dollar cab ride home, they risk their and others lives due to the impaired judgement.

Thank you! This is what gets me too, why can’t they Uber/Lyft or even have a friend who can be the DD for the night? I don’t think anyone should ever drive drunk, but when you have money to afford a safe way home it’s even worse.

  12. I’m not a fan of his attitude at all. He seems arrogant and the stuff he did last offseason was immature. I do think he’s talented and hope that a younger coach might be able to level with him more. If we get a good offer for him, by all means I’m cool with trading him. With his talent though, there is no reason to give him away for nothing if he’s willing to buy in to what Pierce is saying.

  13. Just going on the topic here, I still have to work around some links to get here. My original bookmark still isn’t working. @lethalweapon3 @AHF @PSSSHHHRRR87, anything we can do on the money side? I remember Dolf saying we were low on funds. Glad to see the Squawk is back somewhat. I don’t post as much as everyone here (mainly because I don’t like arguing) but I’ve been around for 10 or so years and would hate to see this site go down!

Sounds like one man's opinion to me!

Make it two. I’d love to have him for his positivity and his presence on a young team, but at his salary I’d much rather sell high. It’s partially a Baze thing, but it’s really about how much we pay him.

Cool. I looked up a few segments he did while a 76ers assistant. He seems well spoken and looks the part of a leader. Can't way to see how we scheme. I wonder what he's going to do for assistants....I hope Ham gets the chance to stick around.

I’ll need to look up some of these videos. I think it’s extremely important to be well spoken in a leadership position. I remember listening to Larry Drew “umm and uhh” his way through interviews and thought I’d never buy in to what he was saying because it doesn’t even sound like he knew or believed what he was saying.

Most of the current staff has been at the practice facility working out the draft picks.

Yeah I saw that, I just don’t know how to take it. It either means they hope to stay, they are just doing their job, or they thought Ham might get the job and they would be retained.

  17. What really hurt Casey is that Indiana took the Cavs to seven games in the first round. LeBron had won, I believe, 21 straight first round games between Miami and Cleveland until the game 1 loss against Indiana. After that series you thought they might be vulnerable and that Toronto had a chance, which make the sweep look even worse. He might have still lost his job if they were swept, but no excuse for not winning one game when Indiana was able to win three.
