I just looked over Horford's stats. One thing that is pretty obvious is Stevens gets more production out of Big Al in the playoffs ( past two seasons with Boston ) than any of our former coaches, including Bud.
Regular season stats are very similar; but come crunch time, it appears that Stevens leans on Horford for a little more.
I agree with this. We had “Teague time” where everyone would clear out and give him his space. Al always had great assist numbers, and he got Josh a lot of great looks over their time together. Stevens seems to use his passing and overall knowledge of the game more than we did.

If Horford went to almost anybody else I’d still pull for him. He was my favorite Hawk and a good guy off th court too. He just had to pick Boston though. I’ve gotten over it now, but I’ll never root for the Celtics and Horford is on that team.

Too late or too early? One can argue that we might have had a shot in the East this year the way the playoffs are unfolding. That assumes we keep the same team, add Collins/Dorsey, and try to add some vets at the minimum.
I think the way Dwight handled himself at the end of last season ruined what could happen this year. He was out speeding the night before an elimination game, not a good look. Gutting that team had to be done at some point, but watching the playoffs this year has me wishing we were in it for one more run.

Great article, thanks for sharing this! It’s good to get something that isn’t about tanking around here these days.

Embiid = 2 losses
That was also Embiid that Horford blew by to make the game sealing shot the other night.
Celtics started Semi Ojeleye at the 4 the last few games against Milwaukee. He played a lot of minutes too, so..
Semi Ojeleye = 4 wins
Giannis = 3 wins
Its a team sport.

Keep in mind that the Braves signed Albies in 2013 and Acuna in 2014. We made the playoffs in 2013 and were expected to make them again in 2014. After the 2014 season is when we decided to gut our team. These guys would have been here regardless of the tank or not. Swanson is the guy you can say we acquired because we decided to tank.
Some of the pitching coming up you can credit to the tank, but so far most of the guys playing on the big league team have been inconsistent (Newcomb and Folty) and some of the others like Wisler and Blair haven't been good at all.

Tavis Schlenk isn't a good GM either. Just saying.
It’s a small sample size for him. He did well with his one draft. I wasn’t thrilled with the lack of return for the players we released during the season, but there probably wasn’t anything offered. If Bud wants an interview it’s a Bud decision, Schlenk would create tension saying no.
If it is a tanking thing, that is on the owners and Budcox for not improving the team. I can’t say that he’s a good GM or a bad GM at this point.

The idea is ludicrous.
I don’t really mean it, I just don’t see him as a good coach.
I’ve seen Marc Jackson, but has Mike Brown been mentioned anywhere in here? I’m not a fan of him, but he is a guy Schlenk has worked with.

I’d much rather have Mark Fox as our starting point guard than head coach. He’s not a good coach.

I think the one with Minnesota and San Antonio is stupid. How can you be a higher seeded team in the same conference but get a higher pick? The Hawks and Dallas I understand.

So the best thing for him is to be home when KB clearly states it takes 5-10 years to get back in contention? He'll just be losing closer to home. Awesome.
His family will be there for moral support!

This is not good news. Looking at it many ways, Schlenk tells Bud he can interview and maybe he realizes he wants to stays here? Don’t forget he was with the Spurs for a long time and didn’t move on until he found the right situation. Maybe he just needs to explore options to see what is there.
The other side is he lost a lot of power and might feel uncomfortable here. Sometimes you need a fresh start as an employee. Phoenix is weird because it’s not a better job on paper, but if he’s from there he may have his reasons to go home. He’s already tanked this year, so “another five years of guaranteed losing” with another team won’t be too bad, I guess.

For me it was Atlanta United getting Barco.
I’m working on getting into them. Did they have a coin toss or something to get him?

Yeah 18 or 19 I just saw that in a few articles...I’m not understanding why it’s not 16.
i could have sworn the worst 8th seed of the two conferences get the 16th spot...or maybe I made that up in my head ...who knows
Overall record. The East 6-8 wasn’t as good record wise.

Last time I remember something as “important” as this was when the Falcons got the third pick to draft Matt Ryan.

I’m watching, pretty good game but way too stressful for a non-Hawks game. It’s sad, if Millsap and Butler never got hurt I bet these two teams are in and you have OKC and the Spurs fighting for the last spot. It is what it is at this point.
Then again, you can say the same for Spurs with Leonard and the Pelicans with Cousins. OKC was the healthy team and not that impressive.

I heard if Portland beats the Spurs today then it secures home court advantage for them. If Portland secures home court today then they might rest some of their players Monday, which would give the Nuggets a chance to beat them.
It makes sense if true. They aren’t catching GS but might want to keep the third spot depending on matchups. Is there a playoff machine? I’d like to see Denver make it and OKC be the odd man out.

Even with a loss to LA, if Denver beats Portland and Minnesota then they would make the playoffs because of the division win% tiebreaker.
Assuming Minnesota loses out I assume? A loss here and a loss to Portland from Denver means Minnesota might rest players the last game of the year against Denver because they are already in (assuming one more win from them). I’m not sure about the other tiebreakers, everyone is so close. OKC loses to Houston tonight and they might be on the outside looking in.
Either way, it never hurts for a team chasing you to lose. Denver probably isn’t losing this game at this point unless LAC plays some defense.

Not an important game for us. The game that's important is Portland v. Nuggets. Portland wins, Minny clinches if they beat Memphis.
It’s important in the fact that if Denver loses, it gives Minnesota more breathing room so we can hope they keep losing. A loss puts them 1 game back and Minnesota has the tiebreaker.

Well, that happened. I wonder how happy Bob actually is..
Horford didnt want to do this in ATL

I also agree with this too. Horford wasn’t able to take advantage of certain matchups in his time here. He’s a great player, but he was often average in the playoffs against certain players, like TT. We might not have been using him to his strengths like Boston is, but it was disappointing not seeing him deliver what we ‘knew’ he could do. I think @TheNorthCydeRises said, he made the biggest shot in franchise history. He always cared and was very active.
