This seems a little selfish. You want to help your team win, and that may not always mean being the best player on the court. Definitely not a Bud type of player.
If you want to play, then give the coach a reason to play you. The guy has tunnel vision. There will (hopefully) come a point when he realizes he isn't a 25 year old Dwight who can put up 22 and 14.
I've been annoyed with his reactions too, but think about how pissed we are about the Hawks losing. He probably just wants to go down with the ship instead of watching it go down from afar. Either way, he could do a little better of making sure he doesn't give the media something to talk about.
Hypothetical question--would anyone here be willing to send our 1st and Baze to a team that can absorb his contract?
-
Baze got his money based on his play in last years playoffs, DMC the year before. It's probably a good thing at this point he struggled.

Baze either has to keep shooting so much or start making shots. Good activity from him but he has four points on 9 attempts. Our FT shooting and rebounding need to improve. Washington is getting way too many second chance points from missing a tough shot and then getting a wide open shot (or drawing a foul).

I'm glad to be wrong and I'm wrong in the most hilarious way either, having Vintage Calderon and Dwight appear.
How the heck does a team allow Vintage Calderon, Vintage Dwight, and in control Bazemore appear all at the same time?
I don't think you saw "vintage" anybody. They both played really well but it's not one of the best games you would get in their prime.

Calderon with a plus-minus of +29.... He won us this game. Worth the signing just for that game.
I love that dude, he's going to be a good coach if he wants to. Great energy and smart player. He came into the game knowing how much we needed him and he was awesome.

It depends. Clearly Boston wants Melo since they don't want to trade their picks and while other teams have better assets, they don't want to trade them for a rental in PG. I would normally say hell no to any trade for a rental where we are trading serious assets but at the end of the day, Kessler wants to win.
Boston is so stubborn with their assets, as of today they are lucky Rondo got hurt. We will see how the series plays out.

Well I got my wish and per BSPN
Nate McMillian said the following:
"We know we have a big mountain to climb. We're not talking right now about winning the series. We're talking about staying alive. You could lose a lot more than just this game if you don't approach this game the right way," McMillan said before Game 4 (1 p.m. ET, ABC). "... If you go out there and lay down and give them the game ... you lose respect; there could be a lot of major changes. There could be a lot you could lose. The big thing is losing respect from your fan base and from fans all over."
Would you give up Taurean Prince, Bazemore (only way to make the trade work, possibly a three team trade), and three first rounders (only 1 of the Hawks) for PG13?
Would he alone be enough to get the Hawks to the promised land?
Funny that Nate has been there one year and his comments seem more like something you would hear from Vogel or Bird. He should also be looking at himself, that was a talented team on paper.

I was saying the same thing today. PG13 is one of my favorite players and I think a change of scenery will do wonders for him. He seems more like a player who would thrive in a low pressure situation like ATL instead of playing in LA.
It will take some pieces to get him though. I'm good with giving up draft picks but I do worry about our front office situation. We have to be smart with money - no more Bazemore contacts. Moving him for an expiring (or a team that can absorb his contract) would be key to making this deal happen. If we get PG13 I think ownership also needs to be willing to pay Millsap, otherwise we are probably where Toronto is.
My dream lineup is: Schröder/THJ/PG13/Sap/Dwight

I don't think you can ever get over the loss because you feel like we should have won. I was numb for awhile but this is Atlanta and when you reflect on it you realize that we finally have a team that is close to winning a championship. If that was a swan song of sorts for Matt, Julio, the young D..then it'd be worse. They will be back and will hopefully break the championship jinx for our ATL teams.

I think this is more of a case of the Wiz role guys gagging on the road. They gagged and while we know that Wall is a good transition player, the Hawks were playing AAU caliber defense in transition (and have been all series).
That's basically the only bad thing about the first half. If Atlanta wasn't playing AAU caliber defense when it was transition it would have been a Bucks vs Raptors game 3 like score.
Role players always step up at home, it's why teams (minus LeBron) try to get homecourt. Insert Hawks vs Boston game 3 of 2008 or something comparison.

I said in another thread, the two times we were down 0-2 in the first round in our playoff run we came back to win the next two games. Great game for us but we have to do it one more time to make it a series. Go Hawks!

'Member when we had two good point guards? So many of us have been waiting for a backup PG since we traded Jeff.
-
I'm not thrilled with losing two in a row, but it's not the end of the world. We will know if our guys want a series come Saturday. The only two times we were down 2-0 in the first round during our "playoff run" (Boston year one, Indy with Josh out the door) we won game 3/4. Pretty sure I'm not forgetting a year.
Edited to add we have also won two games and dropped the next two before as well. I'm thinking Boston, Brooklyn, Miami, Milwaukee,

Nobody was great but only Baze was completely awful. He was only useful when the refs called fouls on each drive. He honestly missed a layup and got to shoot free throws at one point.

Howard was on the floor when the Hawks made the big run in the 3rd quarter. So why couldn't he get back into the game?
Howard was lazy with some passes. I don't agree with the decision to bench him the entire 4th though. Bud is doing a poor job of balancing need for offense/spacing and the need for interior defense/rebounds. Wizards were destroying us with free throw jumpers at the end--we coulda used Dwight.
-
Spacing..but it didn't seem to help our shooters.
-
F U Baze. His turnovers are killing us. And again with his D.

Those four points Baze gave up on turnovers when we had the lead shifted all momentum. Muscula was weak at the rim and missed some open looks. Gortat scored on him with ease too.
Luckily Schröder has been productive offensively but we really need to have more possessions with at least 3 passes. His offense has been a savior but he still has to run some offense too.
THJ has been awful but he hasn't been found with ball movement yet, it is all ISO. We need to run some offense to get other people going..

Whoreford amazingly had E-L-E-V-E-N (yes 11) reboards.
only 7 points tho. He is about to get it from those C fans!!!
I guess sometimes those misses bounce off the rim right into your hands no matter how hard you try to avoid it.

We might have to go against Lopez, Portis and Zipser instead of Whoreford.

I watched the first half at the battery, had Braves tickets. If it wasn't opening weekend I would have sold them. Seemed like our bench got us the lead and the starters came back in with momentum and played well after the awful start.
Lets be honest and know we need to win all games at home and ONE at Washington to win this series. Losing game one doesn't change a thing. I could only see the box score after the first half, but it seems like we were awful and lost by 7. Not too bad..
I think THJ will play better and we will see more of Dwight too. If not, we will be done in 5 games but I have confidence those two will step up. Go Hawks!

Al is what she is. Very good player, looks great when she is playing a team with less or equal talent. She never steps up as an underdog, doesn't have that alpha mentality.
