To all of those who mentioned we finally got a true center and then Whoreford leaves, thank you! The one constant thing we heard for 9 years is he isn't a center (even though he was an all star center) and he belongs at the 4.
Okay. I was in agreement at times too but I didn't think he would leave when we finally got another all star center. Did he know that he would just be a top 15 PF?

But look at this from the player's perspective. They're playing their butts off on most night. Yet, whenever we're playing a popular team, Philips Arena gets taken over by the opposing team's fans. It's nothing to see 30% of the crowd cheering for their favorite non-Hawk team or superstar. The star players around the league see and know this about Atlanta. So when it's time to come here, they think . . . "well if they'll cheer for the opponent, they may not cheer for me",
That's part of the reason why they don't come here.
The Hawks need a Blake Griffin type of player. Someone who can excite the crowd with dazzling play, while also winning game. You just can't be good in Atlanta. You have to be good, with some flash or swag to you.
Dennis is the hope of the franchise, because he plays that way. And if he turns into the leader of the team, fans in Atlanta will latch onto him. Personality wise, he's the anti-Teague and to some extent, the anti-Horford. Even Millsap to most Hawk fans, is "boring".
Dwight can really become a hometown hero after all of this. It's up to him though.

I think Baze has more growth in his game. He actually wants to be here too--that means a lot.

I'd never cheer a Celtic player during the game.

Sap and Schröder were the only guys I remember having memorable playoff games.

I'm really bummed, Horford was our guy. The play against Washington in game 5 will always be one of the best moments in his career and for us. He wasn't dominant but we will be okay..
Boston though? F U "boss"

My dad passed away Tuesday night and we laid him to rest today. I am totally devastated. He was my best friend. Never see or talk to him again until glory.
i know this is not Hawks related and I understand if it is moved. I feel like y'all are family and been a Hawks fan since the 70s.
Shocked to hear the Hawks signed D12.
Sorry for your loss, Vol.

Love it! Let's see what Horf does now...

All of these deals show what a great value Teague was/is. I'm sure he's ready for this season to end so he can be a free agent.
-
Keep in mind that Utah has Trey Burke but still traded for Shelvin Mack to be their starter. I'll pass on Burke.
If Jack is healthy I'd gladly bring him here. Before his injury last year he was averaging 13/7/4 (albeit on a bad team). He would be a good veteran to bring off the bench and he's a GT guy.

"But when you look at everything, we feel like we’re in a very good situation."
We'll see how this plays out, but if re-upping Horford and Bazemore are the significant moves, then it's going to be a long and dissapointing summer.
When you look at everything (which is the key word)--meaning our cap flexibility, players we can resign, player development, etc.

Depends on the price. I thought he woulda been perfect last year.

Our bench is turrrrible
now that Dennis is a starter, who is gonna score? Moose?
ive always been of the thought that since we can't get a star, our only championship chance is to build the best bench in the league. Fight with the starters. Flat out own the opposition with the bench.
This would be a great time for THJ to step up and be our 6th man. We know he can score and his D improved but can he be that guy for us?

As far as the hate for other players and teams go, I really blame the media for it. When something is good they talk it up non stop. We get every detail about players like LeBron and Steph and it gets tiring. If it is your player or team you don't mind it, but I know I got tired of hearing and reading about GS 24/7.
As for Durant, somebody else mentioned it but it's possible the news report left us off the list because they didn't think about Atlanta. I doubt he's coming but I'm not going to say he's not based on that report.

You would be surprised who I heard is on the block and no it's not Sap or Kyle and I can't say.
The only "surprise" I could think of would be Schröder being on the block and the Hawks going in a completely different direction PG wise.

Wow! That's a lot of money for a player who can't stay healthy.

Free agents have not been breaking down our doors to come here.
Not just free agents, we can take players back in trades with cap space too. Like I said, we will see how they use it but we needed it and now have it.

As a lot of people are saying, the trade isn't just for the 12th pick. We also create flexibility to add players via trade or free agency. If we ended up trading Teague for the 12th pick and don't use the cap space we gained on anything useful then it's a bad trade. This is just one of these deals we are going to have to wait and see what happens during the off-season before we can judge if it is good or bad.

I also don't get the comment from Marc Stein about signing Horford. We didn't have to trade Teague to do that, so what is he trying to say?
-
I will miss Teague time, Insanateague, roller skate parties and all of the other great moments Jeff brought us over the years.

What you do expect for 1 year of Teague ?
Would you sign Teague long-term, after next season, at the age of 29 ? His game is based on athletic ability. Once he looses a half a step Teague will just be another guy. Schröder is the long-term play at PG.
I was all for trading Teague but I think he has a lot more value than what we received (or what has been reported) in this deal.

The problem could be Teague only wanted to sign with Indiana of the teams who offered value
If that is the case, I would have probably just waited to trade him at another time.

I love Jamal but I'm not sure if his "keep on shooting til you get hot" offense fits here. I'm not going to be upset if he comes back though.
