When I think about having home court advantage vs Indiana in 2nd round, I'm even more pissed that we dropped this one...

You are assuming we would beat a team that we went 1-3 against during the regular season. One of those Miami wins was at Philips when they rested Wade and Whiteside.

  2. I know a lot of people aren't happy about losing last night but it really isn't that big of a deal to me. Yeah, we didn't win the division but nobody seemed to care that we won it last year. The effort wasn't great but how much did they really want to win this game?  Getting into the playoffs healthy was probably our #1 objective and they probably mentally checked out when they saw the scores in the other games.

Personally, I didn't want to see Miami in the first round. Wade would be shooting foul shots all game, Whiteside would be grabbing 15-20 rebounds and Joe would come back and hit some clutch shots. We wouldn't even get to have our desirable second round matchup. If you want to get out of the East you are going to have to go through Cleveland anyways, so playing them in the second or third round doesn't matter.

Regarding Boston--they won't be easy. It'll be tough playing up in Boston and we will have a lot of Celtics fans in our arena. We went 3-1 against them this year and have better talent so I think we can win this series in 6/7 games.

We avoid the Heat regardless.  I feel good about our chances in a series vs both other teams, especially having homecourt.  Charlotte is obv the preference.

There is another thread that LW3 created that is talking about this as well. If Atlanta/Boston/Charlotte all win tonight, we would be the third seed playing Miami who would be the sixth seed.

I think he hit one in a Cleveland regular season game, but I can't think of any others and obviously not enough to stand out.

The only game winner I can think of since Joe left is Al's putback against Washington and that was a point blank drop in - albeit after a horrible Schröder attempt at a layup.

Al hit a game winner at home (I think there were about 3 seconds left after he shot) against the Mavericks in the 13/14 season. That is all I can think of after the two you mentioned.

I googled "Paul Millsap game winner" to see if he had any success in Utah and found a video of him missing a wide open layup to win the game. I guess it has been an issue for him for awhile too..

  5. Adding on, we have Phoenix and Washington that are must wins. There is also Toronto and Boston at home. I'd like to win both of those but I can see us splitting it. That puts us at 3-1 and you still have that road game in Cleveland. If we go 2-1 against the playoff teams I bet we wind up #3 assuming we get the win against Phoenix and Washington.

We hold the tiebreaker against Charlotte. Right now we are 2-1 against Boston. Miami has the edge over us. I'm not sure what happens if we wind up in a three way tie.

  6. We got some help last night with Portland beating Miami. Today the Hornets play in Cleveland and Boston is playing in LA against the Lakers (who did recently beat the Heat).

On Tuesday night we will host the Suns, Miami is at home against Detroit and Charlotte is in Toronto. The Suns game is a must win if you want to finish third and hopefully some of these other games go in our favor too.

His salary is fine, it's just we need his salary for better fits in other areas

Very true and that is probably the biggest reason I think he has been such a disappointment. Not only did he not really help our front court for various reasons, but that 8 million would be nice to have to help our wing depth.

  8. I'm all aboard with wanting the 3rd/6th seed too. The Raptors have owned us recently but lets not forgot their recent playoff history.

Last year they were #4 and got swept by the Wizards. The previous year they were #3 and lost in 7 to Brooklyn. They might be able to win their first round match up this year but if we can win a game up in Toronto, you have to wonder where they psyche will be. Lebron has been to the finals the last five seasons. I'd much rather go against the group that hasn't won a playoff series together.

  9. Great weekend for the Hawks. This reminded me of the game up in Indy at the end of the 13/14 season where we just took it to them offensively and defensively. The Hawks are looking very goodright now--lets hope we can close the season with this type of effort/play and good health as well.

  10. Tough loss, I really wanted this one. It was the end of the road trip and you could tell.  I feel like we played hard D and got good shots. We just couldn't convert on either end.

We have had a tough schedule but it's our own fault that these games become more important. If we handled business against our inferior opponents earlier in the season this loss wouldn't hurt us as much. This weekend is big..

    Go Hawks!
