  1. This really is a great accomplishment! I think it's not getting a lot of attention because we pretty much knew we would be number one shortly after the all star break.

We worry about home court against GS, but lets worry about getting out of the East first. It'll be hard for any Eastern team to win a series against us when we have 4 games in Atlanta. Plus, we are a really good road team too. It has been a great year and the fun is just getting started. Go Hawks!

  2. In my opinion I would take Stan Van Gundy and Quin Snyder over some other coaches ahead of them... they are GREAT coaches.

I really wanted SVG before we hired Bud. I think he will do a very good job in Detroit when it's all said and done. I mean the guy just dumped Josh, he isn't afraid to shake things up.

  3. Ha yep I ended up being John Jenkins. Now I'm gonna go shoot myself.. russian_roulette.gif

My thoughts too. I'm hoping that this is rigged to make the majority of us John Jenkins so we impulsively buy his jersey before it goes on clearance!

  4. As Wretch said, it's going to come down to our defense. We won't win a series jacking shots up, but we didn't get to where we are by doing that either. A lot of our offense came with pushing the ball up the court after a solid defensive possession and quickly finding a favorable offensive matchup. Sometimes it was a three, sometimes it was one of our bigs on a smaller player. We will win almost any series with solid D, good transition offense and good ball movement when the game slows down. We aren't doing any of these things right now on a consistent basis but we know they can.

  5. I don't care about losing but I do care about how we lose at this point of the season. That was just pitiful..

Hats off to guys like Dennis, Millsap and Pero for showing some effort. I wouldn't say that I'm worried at all, we didn't get settled at home until Saturday afternoon and had a game 24 hours later.

Yeah, we will be the top seed in the east and they know that. At some point they need to start playing solid D and moving the ball when the game is on the line though. We need to maintain the "good basketball habits" that we showed for the majority of the season.

  6. I agree, the only question was would the shot go in. You knew what was going to happen every possession it seemed like. It was two good teams and still entertaining but I would much rather watch us play. It was also a great way to "scout" out our opponents this upcoming week.

When the day started we were tied with the longest winning streak in the NBA at 4. I'm pretty sure Houston had 4, so they are up to 5 now. Not that it matters to us, but it's always good for media talk when you are the hottest team at the moment. Let's push it to 8 before we head out west!

  7. If he develops a better jump shot then I'd say yeah.  As of right now Teague is the better and smarter PG obv.  In 2/3 yrs he could be like Teague is now.

He has made a ton of progress in one year though. Last year I would cringe whenever he would take a jump shot, not so much this year. Him taking a jumper isn't your best offensive option but he has improved tremendously.

  8. Not much to see with it honestly, but here it is.

Forward/center Pero Antić did well in his first year in the NBA during the 2013-14 season and much was expected, but 2014-15 has seen a drop in his production. Some followers of the Atlanta Hawks may want head coach Mike Budenholzer to drop Antić from the playing rotation, but that is not happening.

“It’s the same thing we’ve talked about since Pero got here,” Budenholzer tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “He does so many other things well. I do like it when he shoots it and it goes in. That would be preferable. I do think, (with) some people, there is too much emphasis put on him shooting – making, not making. When you look at his impact on the game and all kinds of different statistical things, he is a huge positive. We tell him to keep shooting. We believe in him and he’ll make shots.”

Here is a breakdown of his shooting for the last two seasons.

2013-14: 41.8 percent from the floor and 32.7 percent from behind the three-point line
2014-15: 36.2 percent from the floor and 28.7 percent from behind the three-point line

His free throw percentage has also dropped from 75.8 last season to 68.7 this year.

Antić is set to become a restricted free agent in July and the Hawks are expected to re-sign the big man.

  9. I understand that he does so many little things and those certainly do help us. My problem with Pero is when he gives us absolutely no scoring. When he is missing easy shots around the rim or missing wide open threes. We don't need him to be an offensive juggernaut by any means but can you please just hit a couple wide open looks?

  10. Al did give Gasol some issues at times but for the most part of over-matched. This isn't unusual, he's struggled all year v. legit athletic or very skilled true centers.

He does struggle against bigger guys but I sometimes wonder if it's a mental thing. He missed a lot of shots that he usually makes.

  11. I thought they were pretty awful too--for both teams, but more so us. You know if Al is getting T'd up he probably has a legitimate reason to be bitching about calls. GS fans can say the got the worse end of the deal because we shot more free throws but we were driving the ball a lot more than they were. I loved the "referees suck" chant.
