  1. I tend to agree with this...adding in the comfort level our players have finally got with Bud's system.

I think when you talk "talent" you have to make some kind of an average or equation that takes into account athleticism and skill. Smoove is a good example. Outstanding athleticism but average at best basketball skills. Paul Millsap (on the other hand) doesn't have the explosive athleticism of Smoove...but is FAR more skilled at the actual game of basketball.

Both JTB and DJ have a lot of good points.

I love the comparison of Smoove and Sap. You work out the two players in a gym and you come away thinking Josh is probably better. Then you watch them play for 82 games and you see Millsap is better.

Millsap has the superior coach and system, but we really had the option of the two players. Ferry knew that Millsap was the better fit. Our system allows us to get the smarter player.

Woodson and Drew needed the athletic/talented player like Josh. To me, this is one of the biggest changes with Bud. We don't need a Lance Stephenson because he doesn't fit into what we do.

Over time we will get more players like Millsap. If we keep Bud we will be really good, maybe as good as the Spurs. Imagine Teague/Horf/Sap plus another good player in this system for many years.

  2. I think I've figured it out - Pero has finally hit the rookie wall dash1.gif

Lol the rookie part may be kind of true.

Even though Pero isn't your typical rookie, this is his first NBA playoff. He has never been successful in this environment and you know his confidence right now is pretty low. If he can just hit a few shots I think it'll do wonders for him. It'd be nice if we can get him a couple easy buckets or free throw attempts early somehow.

  3. At this point I just want Horford to keep working on his face up. He has gotten really good at it throughout the years.

    Back to the question:

Are we really comparing a 20-10 big to another big who is averaging 3 points, 3 rebounds with a 20% FG and 17% 3FG in 25 minutes this playoffs.

We would of swept this Pacers team.

Exactly. I think some of us forget how good Horford is sometimes.

  4. Well at least we got a little respect from the print side of ESPN...still...on Pardon the Int. Kornheiser just called us a terrible team and Wilbon said we were a "little" bit better than Milwaukee.

    Who cares about them though.

Screw them. Kornheiser is a terrible commentator and Wilbon is a "little" better than spoiled ground beef.

  5. Feel bad for their fans because the organization seemed to be heading in the right direction.

There is no room for those views from a guy that has the power he does. I don't think we should hear it from anyone, it is just magnified when it comes from a NBA owner:

The players gotta play though, for their fans. Don't make this a distraction, you all still get paid 100 times more than all of us.

  6. Bonkers is the guy who was telling everybody the Hawks looked bad in the 1st qtr while everyone said they look ok lol

Look my standards are OBVIOUSLY much higher than anyone else's on this board. The Hawks looked like shit. And like I said in my OP they did soooo many things wrong

    So many simple things

Nobody is happy that we lost..and many of us have high expectations for our Hawks.

That said, we are 8 vs 1 and still can win this series. Sometimes you must be realistic and see what happens. They were sky high after game 2 and still lost game 3.

  7. This should be an interesting one...these early starts tend to make for sloppy games...the guys are used to playing at 7pm.

Oh well...hope our shooting isn't too far off and if it is...theirs is too.

    GO HAWKS !!

I'm wondering who the early start is going to help? If our guys are excited to play they might benefit from not sitting around waiting all day. For Indiana, it helps them because it's less time to think about possibly messing up.

For me, it feels like it is a football Sunday. It's not often we get to watch our Hawks so early. Got the grill going and beers ready! Wish I could be down at Phillips for this one.

As for the game, I don't think it is a must win..but as others have said, it'll make it much more difficult to advance if we don't pull it out a W today.

  8. Crowd showed up as the game got going. I was a little worried with the early 7P start, I know traffic can suck. Regardless, I'm glad our great basketball is being shown to national tv and any random fan that shows up.

If any of y'all can make it, please go. I'd love to be at these games, don't take the opportunity to go for granted!
