  1. Don't know what Mel Kiper was thinking with this one... why would we draft Sherron Martin over Clint Sintim, Jairus Byrd, Patrick Chung, and Duke Robinson? And I don't see the Patriots drafting Pat White. That's a "WTF?" type of pick for me. They already have a young quarterback on their team who I think will develop into a very solid quarterback in the league. And they are not the type of team that will reach for a project, out-of-place WR who thinks he's a QB in this league. Mike Mayock > Mel Kiper
  2. I don't like Malcolm Jenkins for our defense. He's slow and I think he's more of a FS than anything else. Why would we waste our first rounder for a position that we don't even need? Louis Delmas will not last past the second round IMO. He's too good of a player and a person for teams to pass up on -- the kid's going to be special. I don't see us trading down. It will rarely happen with Dimitroff IMO -- he will trade up, but not often down.
  3. They were talking about it during the game today against the Nationals. Glavine was pitching one of his rehab sessions in the minor league and he had to leave the game with a shoulder ailment... he was complaining of should discomfort. Maybe this is the time for the Braves to bring up Tommy Hanson... but I doubt it. We might be seeing JoJo Reyes first before anyone else from the minor league (except Medlen). One thing is for sure. We can't keep on relying on our four starting pitchers to keep us going for a whole month straight. We're experiencing a lot of success with them, but that fifth starter will be crucial. Lowe Jurrjens Vasquez Kawakami Reyes/Hanson/Morton As for Hanson, I think wherever we think he will get the most innings is where we should put him. 140 innings pitched in the minors will be more helpful to his development than 70 innings pitched in the majors... just my opinion.
  4. Sadly, I was one of those who thought we weren't going to repeat what we did last season (playoffs) either... I just thought Childress was too big of a loss, and who knew Flip had this much left in him? Not to mention the Wonderful Woodson was back. It may be the contract year, or it may be something else... but whatever Flip's having for breakfast, I want to have some myself!
  5. It's tough to admit it, but I agree with that post. The Hawks are very shaky, especially on the road. Dwyane Wade and his buddies in black and white are definitely going to try and get him past the first round. Even when people call the Heat a one-man team (hard to disagree, but Beasley has been red-hot recently) they still have the potential to give the Hawks a beat down (like they did already this year). I think the Heat is my choice of opponent as well... compared to the 76ers and the Bulls, I think we have a better chance of beating them than any of those teams, but by no means should we be writing them off. Good post, TT.
  6. Who's the 6th man of this team then?
  7. Umm... why would they be releasing that info to the public? I don't think you would be able to find that... if you really want to know, you'll have to go on their team forums and ask the fans yourself.
  8. He wasn't injured all year. We just choose not to play him and list him as "injured" all the time.
  9. NBA's luxury tax might force the Orlando Magic to part ways with Hedo Turkoglu and Marcin Gortat "Fittingly, the Magic close their regular season Wednesday on April 15 — tax day. The Sentinel has learned that the Magic most certainly will have to make some salary-cutting moves after the season in order to keep small forward Hedo Turkoglu and center Marcin Gortat and avoid paying the NBA's punitive luxury tax next season. Their payroll is projected at roughly $70 million for 2009-10 and the league's tax threshold is expected to drop from $71 million to about $68 million, meaning the Magic would have do to something they vowed never to do. "We'd have to pay the tax, yes," General Manager Otis Smith said. "But that's today." Smith said he doesn't believe the Magic will have to go into the tax to contend for a championship — and doesn't expect ownership will have to pay it next season. "I don't see that changing," Smith said. "We have a great owner [ Rich DeVos]. I have not gone to ownership and said we need to be in the tax. I don't think it's necessary. You have to be creative." Being creative means trading players and reducing payroll, crucial in a smaller market such as Orlando. The New York Knicks, the NBA's biggest spenders, head into Amway Arena tonight with roughly a $92 million payroll and a 30-49 record. They are about $21 million over the league's luxury tax threshold. Not much bang — i.e., winning basketball — for your buck. The Magic have a payroll estimated at $69 million this season — and a 58-20 record to show for it. But to continue on that fiscally responsible plan, the Magic will have to make some hard decisions, considering they want to re-sign Turkoglu and Gortat. Turkoglu can opt out of his contract this summer, giving up the $7.3 million owed him by the Magic next season." Click here for full article
  10. I think his insurance pays for most of his contract, we save a lot of money by not playing him opposed to playing him and having to pay most of it. I may be wrong though.
  11. Are you really that focused on "backing up" our Hawks? Because last I checked, you were saying how you couldn't wait until Mike Bibby [and Speedy Claxton] were off of our team. Hmm... and excuse me for defending my opinions when someone else questions my state of mind upon my team.
  12. You obviously haven't been here long enough to read what this man's been writing. You've only been posting here for what... a couple weeks now and you think you know the whole place inside-out. Sorry, but please read some of his posts before criticizing me for calling him out. The guy is almost on the same level as Terror Moore when he writes long posts of bull and then tries to justify those posts a couple weeks later with "YAY HAWKS!" types of posts... (Sorry, behnhillboy.) And don't blame me for hating on a fan that criticizes the best player on this team, Joe Johnson, who night in and night out has carried our team to where it is right now. (And please don't get used to calling me drizzy because that is not my real username, lol.)
  13. Let me just say that I am a huge fan of Richard Quinn - TE from NC. I think if we can't get Pettigrew in the first, we should target him in the later rounds. He is a Dimitroff type of player -- meaning a hard worker, coachable player, and low-profile off the field -- and also fits what Mularkey looks for in tight ends (blockers first, receivers second). He's still raw but can develop into a very solid TE in the league.
  14. That can't be him... thigns he says are a bit too hilarious, yet controversial.
  15. Must you always have something nice to say after a win but nothing nice to say when we lose?
  16. Woodson should definitely rest the starters. Especially Joe Johnson. Our starters should be on limited minutes just so they don't get rusty towards the playoffs... but players like Acie Law, Mario West, and Solomon Jones should get a lot more playing time so we can at least allow them to develop even if it's just a little bit towards the end of the season.
  17. LOL, I miss those threads.
  18. I've always sucked at Geography class. :(
  19. Injury report for tonight: Marvin is back, but Acie Law is out with back spasms and Mo Evans will miss the game with a death in the fam. I got this from the team's Twitter.
  20. Nope, I don't think so. I just checked.
  21. It's so much easier to use. And that's just it... the features of Facebook get in the way of the status messages when they show Person A writing on Person B's wall, or if that person commented on this person's photo, and all those other useless applications. Twitter is just simple.
  22. I don't see us really trading down. If Dimitroff is really high on someone, he won't be afraid to reach for him... He's shown us that he will reach for players (see: Sam Baker, Chevis Jackson, Harry Douglas) instead of risking that player not being there later on if he does trade down. Duke Robinson has always been a possibility in my mind because of his work ethic and skillset that matches Boudreau's system, but I didn't really see that part of the offensive line as a major need seeing that we have Harvey Dahl, who was arguably the biggest [pleasant] surprise on our offensive line, and Clabo, who can shift to the RG to provide some quality depth seeing that he's naturally a guard anyways. Most likely we are just testing all of the possibilities and are getting looks at the most players that we can. So far, our offensive line looks like this right now (not including the players that I think will be sent to the Practice Squad -- for example, Ben Wilkerson): LT: Baker - Svitek - Ojinnaka - Gandy LG: Blalock - ? C: McClure - Romberg RG: Dahl - ? RT: Clabo - Foster So as you can see, I guess we do need some OG depth... I still wouldn't draft one in the first day of the draft. Solid linemen are easier to find later in the drafts than any other position IMO.
  23. I see you live in Germany. Have you gone to any of his games?
