  1. I hate Michael Johnson... I predicted that his stock would fall dramatically in the beginning of the year and was hounded by the members over in FalconsLIFE (official forum of the Falcons). I predicted then that he'd fall out of the first round, and look where his stock is now... He's going to be a pure bust, and it's not worth it to invest in a project defensive end like Johnson when we can get impact players that are NFL-ready but still have a high ceiling. In the second round, I'm very interested in us getting Louis Delmas (S). Many scouts are comparing him to Bob Sanders without the injury problems. My mock draft a while ago had us drafting Raji (now it's unrealistic... also let me toot my own horn here and say that I was also predicting Raji would jump up the draft boards up to potentially Top 15 in the beginning of the year) in the first, Delmas in the second, and Freeman in the third. I forget who I had us drafting in the later rounds, I think Eric Wood (Ctr) in the fourth and Bear Pascoe (TE) sometime in the fifth.
  2. Never - he's the Mike Hampton of baseball, folks... and I'm sure all the baseball fans here can agree.
  3. I've really been high on Dimitroff ever since he joined the organization. After an almost flawless offseason last year, I think it'd be fair to say that I'll give Dimitroff complete benefit of the doubt on many of his decisions this year. With that said, I think Keith Brooking should be cut. And there's much speculation around the league that he will be cut. Either that, or he'll have to take a major pay cut. Whether we keep Brooking or not, we will still have a major hole at the outside linebacker position. It looks more and more like Boley will not be re-signed, and Keith Brooking and Coy Wire are certainly not going to be the answer to our problems. Nicholas should be able to give us solid plays on either side of the field, but we desperately need someone that can play within Mike Smith's defensive system. The lack of depth on this position is worrying as well. I want us to address the tight end position within the first day of the draft. I still consider "first day" the first 3 rounds, even though it's really only the first 2 rounds. Brandon Pettigrew will be enticing, but I'm not sure that Dimitroff is ready to draft someone with so many questions regarding their personality. Many of you already know about Pettigrew's 'encounter' with the law, so there's no need of pointing them out. This year's draft class of tight ends is a bit deep, so I'm excited to see what Dimitroff does here. Defensive line really needs some help in all of its positions. Especially nose tackle and left defensive end. There are some speculation that we will be moving Jamaal inside which isn't that bad of an idea. I don't believe defensive backs are that big of a need. Von Hutchins will be returning this year and he'll really be able to provide some quality depth. I believe that once we bring in a better pass rush, our defensive backs will look a lot better. Just look at the Giants' defensive line. They've allowed their defensive backs to make mistakes and also made them look like stars in the process. Without the help of his D-Line, Webster would not have signed a relatively expensive contract extension this season.
  4. I'd keep Horford over any of those guys. On draft day, I was hoping we would be able to land Conley then Hawes. But my second best scenario was Horford/Law, which actually happened so I was very happy. I'm disappointed in how Law has panned out, but it's a little early seeing that he rarely gets PT. I didn't think Stuckey would be this good.
  5. Agreed. With the money we've spent on Glavine, that leaves just a little too less than what the left fielders will be demanding by spring training. I would have loved for us to signed Adam Dunn, but I wonder if this offer to Glavine signifies that there have been some trade talk progress with a team (maybe the Yankees?) that would send a left fielder (Swisher, Nady?) to Atlanta.
  6. ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Braves have made an offer to Tom Glavine, but the 300-game winner hasn't decided whether to accept a significant pay cut. With the start of spring training just a week away, general manager Frank Wren confirmed Sunday the Braves recently offered a contract to Glavine, who's hoping to return for at least one more season after going down last year with the first serious injury of his career. Glavine, who underwent elbow and shoulder surgery, has resumed throwing without any pain and could be an effective fifth starter in a rotation that includes offseason acquisitions Derek Lowe, Javier Vazquez and Japanese all-star Kenshin Kawakami. The Braves also have 13-game winner Jair Jurrjens. Wren would not discuss details of the offer of Glavine, but media reports said it would include a base salary of $1 million-$2 million. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Glavine could earn up to $3 million, including incentives, if he remained healthy through the season. Glavine, who spent the first 16 years of his career with the Braves before moving to the New York Mets for five seasons, returned to Atlanta in 2008 for an $8 million contract. The Braves, who still hope to add a power-hitting outfielder, aren't willing to offer nearly as much money to a pitcher who will turn 43 before the start of the season and is coming off major surgery. Glavine made only 13 starts last season, going 2-4 with a 5.54 ERA. During the offseason, Atlanta lost another longtime stalwart of its rotation when John Smoltz, also in his 40s and rehabbing from season-ending surgery, took a more lucrative offer from the Boston Red Sox. Smoltz had spent his entire career with the Braves. "There's a point where it's worth going back and going through everything you go through, good and bad, in getting ready and going through a baseball season -- and a point where it's not," Glavine told the Atlanta newspaper. "There's a price for everything. I don't know how to say that without someone getting offended. In every business, there's a price that makes it worthwhile." Glavine and his agent, Gregg Clifton, did not immediately return telephone messages left by The Associated Press on Sunday. With the retirement of former teammate Greg Maddux, Glavine would be the leader among active pitchers with 305 wins if he returns. He needs two to pass Eddie Plank for 20th on the career list. After surgery, Glavine said he wouldn't return for another season with any team other than the Braves. During the offseason, he hinted he might reconsider that stance if another team was seriously interested.
  7. Why, you gonna try to poison the other team or something? :D
  8. Does anyone know if there are gonna be links online tonight for this game? EDIT: Nevermind, I think I found one on Channel Surfing.
  9. I agree with everyone, this is Acie's time to shine.
  10. Oh, wow... I forgot all about Kaman. Their team is downright nasty without any injuries...
  11. Their players weren't down for the "whole season", they were just unfortunate enough to have their players keep suffering injuries so they were never completely healthy as a team. Baron Davis and especially Marcus Camby have shown that they can simply dominate when they are healthy... and now they have Randolph back. As long as they can stay healthy, they can keep up with any team in the NBA. So yeah... don't go with their current record.
  12. Dahl is still quite underrated by many of our fans. I personally think Dahl is a very solid lineman. He is simply the type of player that goes out and does his job. Personally, I don't believe the Falcons will let him go. I don't think Dahl will have an expensive price tag, and he will be essential next year as a backup (he provides solid depth for a team that really needs it on the O-Line) if he doesn't end up starting. The only knock I have against Dahl is his inconsistency... towards the end of the season, I noticed Dahl was often the reason why there were so many holding penalties against us. But then again, last year was his first year actually starting... To the member who said Dahl was the worst: I don't believe he was. McClure was often slow to pick up the blitz package, and he was one of the main reasons why we couldn't really QB Sneak it many times because if you want to run a QB Sneak, you have to have push in the middle of the line, and McClure, who's well under 300 lbs., just couldn't provide that.
  13. The Clippers' record means nothing now that they have all of their starters back and completely healthy.
  14. Last night's chat went off without a hitch, and I don't believe I saw any moderator in there. Not saying this to disrespect anyone, but how often are the moderators in the chatroom? Maybe I'm not seeing something there because I'm pretty sure everyone else was a regular member. There's usually only one, maybe two, disrespectful members in the chat at times - which is bareable. I still applaud the moderators for what they've not only done in the chatroom (cleaning it up, making it easier for people to go there without blowing a fuse on a noob) but also on the forum.
  15. I heard it sucked, glad I didn't watch out... although I'm not so happy about spending $9.50 on watching the Underworld movie when it was only about an hour long. What a rip off.
  16. What do you think of the trade? I let go of Camby, B. Davis, and Sessions for Yao and Kirilenko. The league's all standard. My team is now... Chris Duhon Nate Robinson Mike Bibby Antawn Jamison Kevin Garnett Al Thornton LaMarcus Aldridge Boris Diaw Rashard Lewis Mehmet Okur Yao Ming Andre Kirilenko (Free Slot) I also need help filling in the slot and because I let go of Davis and Sessions, should it be smart that I'm leaning towards a guard to pick up? Guards available in my league... Grant Hill (SG, SF) James Posey (SG, SF) Rasual Butler (SG, SF) Beno Udrih (PG) Jarrett Jack (PG, SG) Mike Conley (PG, SG) Flip Murray (SG) Kyle Lowry (PG, SG) Big men available in my league... Joakim Noah (PF, C) Joel Pryzbilla (C.) Darko Milicic (PF, C) Ronny Turiaf (PF, C) So what do you guys think?
  17. http://www.hawksquawk.net/community/index....howtopic=322925 Lol, one of the links on the bottom.
  18. What do you guys think of us, instead of signing Murray, go after a better perimeter Defender in Trevor Ariza? He can't score as well as Murray can per se (in terms of shooting) but he's a smarter player who, if he doesn't ask for too much, I think can really make an impact as a role player coming off the bench. I wouldn't mind seeing more of Law either... next year, I don't think I'd be the only one surprised if Law isn't getting anymore minutes. Although Woodson doesn't like playing young guards over veterans, it would only make sense to play Law more and more now.
  19. JJ is the reason why this team has gotten to this point.
  20. I changed JJ's shot to Joe Alexander... and Smith's to Thaddeus Young's. BTW... Childress has his own shot formation.
  21. did anyone else change smith's too? he does'nt even shoot like that... they fixed marvin's and gave horford his own... but they still got JJ and Smith's shots off. im gonna try to change smith's to thaddeus young's shot.
  22. JJ's shot does not look anything like his real life shot. For some reason he looks doofy shooting in 2k9 and I've constantly been missing 3's with JJ even when I developped his 3 pointer to a 96, he even misses wide open shots. So I'm just wondering if anyone can help me choose (if you guys care about the shot formations) which form looks more like JJ's in NBA 2k9. I was thinking of going with Joe Alexander's because that's kinda what JJ's shot looks like. Any suggestions?
  23. Is there any way we can incorporate the Hawksquawk scoreboard thing on top of the default layouts to the "Classic" ones? It's a useful reminder for me for which games to look for seeing that I never get any games up here in CT. Thanks... it's ok if you can't though, Dolfan.
