  1. I'm in the process of making an All-Atlanta sports message board. It's going to start out on a free forum host until I can gather enough money to buy my own domain, forum host, etc. I was thinking proboards. However, what I really need help on is the forum's name. I was thinking ATL's Finest, but atlsfinest.proboards.com is already taken, and I don't want to make it Atlanta's Finest. I don't know why, it just doesn't seem to roll off the tongue as much as ATL's Finest. I was wondering what you guys thought about it and if you guys had any ideas on this. Thanks.

Something I miss from other Madden games in franchise mode was training camp before the season started. That way, you can somehow progress the players in a certain part of their game and help them develop. I don't see that in Madden 08 or 09. And to anyone who's already finished the season and gone into the offseason work, is the scouting for the NFL Draft the same as last year's where you have to actually control the prospect and go through a workout to get a report on him? I think that's stupid, and they should just get rid of that idea because not only are some positions frustratingly difficult to play with, it's also very unrealistic. You should send scouts and they send you the reports through their eyes... reports shouldn't be generated on how well you played with that player in the Combine or whatever. It's just not right.
  3. It's harder to find people who own basketball jerseys than people who own football jerseys. I can't really think of a proper time to wear a basketball jersey unless you actually go to one of their games or when you're watching a game with a couple of your buds. The only basketball jersey I've ever owned was my school team's basketball jersey with my name on the back and a Charlotte Bobcats authentic custom jersey with my childhood nickname in the back (I got it for my birthday last year in the Philippines. My aunt's husband had no clue what my team was, but I guess he thought it looked cool). I have never worn the Bobcats jersey, but it's still pretty cool to have in your closet.
  4. Joe Horn was more of a burden to this team than anything else. He's done his job already (mentoring the young wide receivers - especially Roddy White. White says that most of his development is thanks to Joe Horn's mentoring, so it's not like Horn's stay in Atlanta was completely useless). Also keep in mind that at the time, we needed not only a mentor, but another receiver option for Vick to throw to. He was the best option we had at that time. As for Vick... in a country where dogs' lives are held almost, if not, as high as human lives, it'd be stupid to get into dogfighting. Especially when you've killed dozens of dogs in the state of Virginia... which happens to be the same state that PETA holds their headquarters. It was very stupid on Vick's part to even get into that kind of activity.

Ugh, I've tried as many sliders as I possibly could, and I still couldn't find one that I was satisfied with. I've decided to give up on trying to make Madden as realistic as possible, and I'm just going to play it the way it came out of the box. At least I had some fun when I first started playing it. I'm probably going to play 5-6 minute quarters and just pass it 80% of the time. Hehe.

I'm going to try out these sliders.
  7. Yes I do mean pre-season. He didn't do too bad this pre-season. DJ Shockley does have the better arm, I'm not saying he doesn't by any means. Also, like I thought, Ryan will start Week 3 for the Falcons in preseason.
  8. Still says 'Viewing Board Index' for every one on the forum. Oh well, not a big deal IMO.
  9. That time will come this preseason. Like I said, look for it in week four. Shockley will start, and I really believe he will play one entire half while Harrington gets stuck with the back ups in the second half.
  10. I don't think so. I think we're going to be using Smith for what he's known for on both the offensive and defensive side. More weight simply means he'll be getting thrown around like a rag doll less down low, and he can work on that post offense a little bit. But permanently moving Josh Smith down low, for example PFs like Duncan, Bosh, Boozer... I don't think that's going to happen. Hopefully Smith still has his 'quickness' even after putting on more muscle.
  11. Hey, I'm just wondering how to make the people on your ignored list completely invisible. Does anyone know how to do this? The member(s)' posts still show up, but it says something like "You have ignored this member." And then there are options where you can click "View this post" or "Un-ignore Member". If you can't completely ignore all the posts, then that's fine. However, I just don't want to see that the ignored member posted something in the topic. Thanks to anyone who can help me out. :)
  12. With Harrington as the quarterback, the offense does go downfield. He knows this offense pretty well, and Shockley's football IQ is still suspect. I'd rather have Shockley for sure, but you guys are talking like Shockley has shown that he's the next coming of Michael Vick and significantly better than Harrington. Both aren't really that good of quarterbacks. Shockley just has more upside...
  13. Refresh, and it would of said you were viewing the Online List.
  14. Most likely, they are actually viewing the board index. I don't know what to make of it... coincidence I guess? Sometimes the list is a little slow to react with what some of the members do, however.
  15. Is it next week? I always thought it would be the fourth preseason game that we'd bench both Ryan and Redman to get a good look at Harrington and Shockley and give Shockley the start (Smith promised all four QBs would start one week) so he can have the reps with the first unit.

"These games" are not available for PC. If you want to play them, get an Xbox 360 or a PS3. I also agree with frosgrim. Turner is far too slow to take advantage of the D. I play on All-Madden rush O, and it always stays that hard even when Turner's just averaging around 2YPC and gets around 30YPG. (And "Dolfy" is a sick nickname, I don't know about you guys, but I'd love to have that nickname if I could. lol)

How's your franchise doin' now, Dolfy? I'm still in preseason (just finished week two), and the Madden IQ still hasn't gotten to the point where I'm satisfied yet - especially with the running. I'm looking into some sliders right now. I tried some of those dummy profile sliders, and eh... it wasn't my thing. Too much of a hassle IMO. I switched back to my Madden IQ skill level, which no doubt is the best one for me except the running is way too hard. Maybe they'll fix this in the patch?
  18. Welcome to the boards, new Squawkers.
  19. I haven't seen the game yet, but most of his passes haven't really been impressive. I haven't seen enough of Harrington to say that he's better than Harrington, but I will admit Shockley has a much better potential to be a game changer than Harrington will ever be. Most of your judgments are clouded by the fact that he played for Georgia...

I've been playing exhibition games so far to make my Madden IQ as realistic as possible for my skillset.

Dolfan, how many minutes do you go with? I noticed that running is pretty hard in this game, so I go with seven, thinking about going eight, minutes. The games are usually close, but then again, I'm still at preseason so you never know.
  22. I won't be able to watch the game tonight, so... like the last preseason game, I won't be able to watch it until a couple days later. From what I can tell from the preseason sessions and preseason games, our offensive line is doing much better than anyone hoped. I'm sure the coaches are even more impressed. I didn't think they'd play that well in their first preseason game. Sam Baker had a pancake on that one guy, and he brought him down hard! That's hard-nosed football... if we can stay healthy up front, we will be a team that wins at least five or six games.
