  1. How come it says that Phil Jackson was with the Lakers since 1999 in NBA.com? http://www.nba.com/coachfile/phil_jackson/
  2. Quote: What is the status on Hampton? Is he going to be back soon? It seems like he has been gone an awfully long time for some minor pectoral discomfort in a throwing session before what was supposed to be his first start. I don't know. I honestly don't expect Hampton to pitch any time soon. Hampton has to got to be the one of the most injury-prone pitcher in the MLB right now. I'm ready to call him a 'disgrace to Atlanta' with the money that we were expected to pay him and no results coming out of it.
  3. Per AJC: Quote: John Smoltz will pitch for Class AA Mississippi on Saturday to begin what's expected to be a short injury-rehab assignment before he rejoins the Braves.
  4. I actually wrote about this back in around October/November in one of my World History class's tests. I wrote something about not being surprised when it comes to summer that our gas prices would be around $5 each. During that time, gas barrels were about $92-94/each. Now, they're increasing at a much faster pace, and I believe they're well over $100 now.
  5. Why do people think Grant will make as big as mistakes as Billy Knight? I mean, I'm sure there is a possibility that he will draft busts and miss the super stars, but all of the general managers have that risk factor...
  6. Quote: Quote: I had forgot about how the Lakers sucked the year Caron was there. They had Caron, Kobe, and Lamar Odom and went 34-48. They were missing Phil Jackson. Coaching is everything. They did have Phil Jackson.
  7. lol at you thinking you're a scout (regardless of whether or not you said you're an NBA scout or just a basketball scout). I always thought that you had your head on the wrong way, and when you were talking some sense, it was usually pointed towards the complete obvious. Anyways, I would agree with Diesel on this one. I think Beasley has a good future in the NBA, but Josh Smith has grown into the face of the defense in Atlanta, and that's why he will be so hard to let go of. I don't see Beasley any where near Josh Smith's defensive style of play, so I'd rather have Josh Smith than Beasley. The question I'm thinking is... who would we rather have at the peak of their basketball careers? Josh Smith or Michael Beasley?
  8. This is what we've been trying to tell the Stuckey lovers / Acie haters all year. There's no way Stuckey could have come into Atlanta with Woodson as our coach and improve as he did his rookie year. Not to mention the teammates that Stuckey has - all he really has to do is stick with the plays. Law, on the other hand, has to set up his offense and lead it. I really hope Law gets more playing time next year so that he may improve. I'd hate to see talent get wasted because of a coach who hates playing rookies...

    So...

How long should it take to get a new general manager here in Atlanta...? And how long should it take soon after for a new coach (hopefully?), does anyone know? I haven't been keeping track of the candidates for the job, but I do hear King in a lot of topics. Haven't had the time to read up on all the GMs, so post here on who you really would want to get the job, and please think realistically.
  10. I saw Josh Smith on the NBA Live 08 cover last year in forums too. They used the same pic. With that pic, they just changed the title and voila... I don't think they will really put Josh Smith on the cover because they might not even know where he's surely headed. I think they'll put one of Kobe, Lebron, or Dwight Howard on the cover this year. I wouldn't be surprised if they put a Boston Celtic either.
  11. Quote: I don't think that can help us now, I could be wrong but I think I remember something about the player having to go a year without playing after his retirement or something like that and from all appearances Claxton is going to give it another shot. I read an article that said the best way for us to improve our squad this year is to sign Childress, then the FAs that we want first and then sign Smith last. It would put us over the luxury tax but if it fills our roster out this year the ASG might just have to suck it up since we have been under the cap all these years and once Bibby and Claxton fall off next year we will be back under. That's a smart idea, but I don't know if ASG is smart enough to think of such a plot.
  12. The Braves have been flying under the radar so far. I don't hear much about them in my school compared to last year. I guess that's better. I agree about Jurrjens. It seems like he'll be a solid pitcher for a long time, and it's only inevitable that he'll improve with time. That sweep of the Mets felt so good. I can finally add that sweep to the list of things to make fun of for the Mets fans. Obviously, their playoff collapse last year is on top of my "Mets Fan Hecklers" List.
  13. Damn I meant to direct my post to the original poster. I really have a bad habit of not doing so. Sorry for the confusion, guys...
  14. Yeah, there's no way all of the refs are legit. Unfortunately, it's probably been like this for a very long time now. I don't think we can do much about it at this point.
  15. Did you really expect better from him?
  16. Quote: yah.. i agree with your suggestions... This topic is old. This is our new and improved (I really like it) skin...
  17. Holy [censored], that is a lot of money for a quarterback. You better live up to your contract, Matty Ice! Honestly though, I think he should give us a few very solid games as a rookie, and I still have yet to truly know what he will be like when he gets older (obviously). He looks like he is doing great in the training camps though, so that's good. Good luck, Matt Ryan. And on a very random note, I think the barber who cuts my hair at this place is related to Matt Ryan. He looks like Matt Ryan but with darker hair, and on the mirror of his 'station' (I guess you can call it that?) there are two pics of athletes. One in a red football uniform (kinda looks like BC) and one in a baseball uniform (maybe Matt Ryan played baseball or something?) maybe it's just him playing baseball. But I swear... he might be Ryan's brother. lol.
  18. I disagree with your assessment of Transformers. I loved the movie, but that's just me. And No Country for Old Men is over-rated in my opinion. And the Mist wasn't all too good either, they kinda rushed the ending.
  19. Quote: Quote: How many years are left on his contract? 08/09 - $14,666,666 09/10 - $16,000,000 10/11 - $17,333,333 Owned.
  20. I'm not a fan of Hibbert. What can he positively bring to this team? I see nothing out of him in the playoffs, and I always see those complaints about how bad Marvin or another different player in the playoffs.
  21. What do they say about rookies in most professional sports? Wait 3 years and then evaluate them, right?
  22. Quote: very good read. But why no Horford?? I was looking forward to what he would say about the rookie. He seems to have faith in Marvin just like me lol Do you read the other posts before you even post? I mean... I can understand if there were dozens of replies that you didn't feel like reading, but there are only around three replies that you had to read.
  23. GREAT read. Thank you for posting. However, how come some players are not included in this report?

    NEWSFLASH!

Quote: After watching Chris Paul repeatedly slash through the defending champion's D like an NBA Live character, I am beginning to wonder if we missed the boat on the '05 draft. Call me crazy, but I think Billy may end up lamenting this single regrettable blemish on an otherwise stellar draft record... WOW ONE OF THESE TOPICS AGAIN! LOVELY
  25. That is an awesome article. I also believe that we must not all put so much pressure on Knight for passing on Paul because Marvin's stock was skyrocketing at the time of the draft. He's had his ups and downs, and it's unfortunate that he's made bigger mistakes than successes. Hopefully Atlanta will find a better GM, but good luck to Billy Knight in the future nonetheless.
