I think he is a bench player intially, but I think evetually he will start at the 5 for us.

It is more about Marvin and Smoove than it is Shelden. I you go back and look at the games where Al missed and Marv/Smoove started you can see some chemistry building between those guys. I have a real good feeling about that combination.

Shelden was not going to start anyway...I was telling somebody on this board that our starting forwards will be Marvin/Smoove.

If we are serious about making the playoffs THIS year...then we will trade for Magloire AND try to get Lo Wright to take a 2 year deal to come off our bench. We can let Marv have another year off the bench. Clax/Lue/Ivey JJ/Chills/Salim Smoove/Marv Shelden/Lo/Jones Magloire/ZZ/Batista That team would prolly make the playoffs this year...but would maybe hender the growth of our youngins.

I really don't think our paint issues have been solved...Shelden will help...but we definately need Magloire or Foster.

Would not mind...but he does offer much defensively though.

Well, when he traded our 1st round pick to Phoenix (even though it is protected 1-2-3)...I think he was thinking it would not be a lottery pick.

Trade for Magloire, sign Ely...then October 31, lets go to work.

I think this is another reason why this staff did not want Shelden to continue workouts, maybe they feared that if teams found out about his offensive potential, he may not be there at 5. We will see.

If he is told by the staff that his job is to come off the bench and score, then a young player tends to try too hard, not noticing how he may help in other ways. Seems like the staff is trying to change his role. Thats is what has me hesitant about Woody, he seems to be all over the place when trying to define roles and our style of play. It seems that Marvin will open the summer league with a lot of post play, hope that this does not take away from his face up game and fake and dribble play.

I said in a recent post, most will be suprised at how Shelden's mid range jumper progresses...he is more than capable.

The trick is we need a vet big that can still play. Lead by doing it, instead of talking for a change...Kenny Anderson, Kevin Willis.

Not to redirect this thread, but has anyone noticed that Al and Shelden are both listed at 6'9 250, but Shelden looks like a PF/C and Al looks like a fat SF.

Vet big and his name is Magloire.

Actually I think Brevin may be faster with the ball...but he can't get in the lane and cause havoc like Speedy.

I think is a good thing...it is only a problem when u r gettin your ass handed to you but some of your teammates don't take as hard as you do. I go back to the NO game, some of the guys quit. Salim plays hard every game, did not always play well but he played hard. I have said before, some of u may have given up on him too early.

If Biedrins played for us there would a million posts on how BK is an idiot and we have another softy big.

One big difference is that he can get in the lane, finish or draw fouls...plus he is crafty and has good vision.

I'm talkin about regular season, not the same interview...anyway I'm not going to talk u to death...we will see.

We will see big boy.....I think Woody almost said it in an interview the other day. Unless Shelden is just spectacular, Marv/Smoove will start initially.

Yeah, I know, just like Diaw. ZZ can be a 20-25 min. reserve big on a lot of teams.

we won't be picking 4th or 5th, unless our first 20 games are against the west.

Please...ZZ hustles and bangs around in there for most of those rebounds...if you see the flaws in a player ...surely you must recognize what they do well. If ZZ had the same year he had last season in Detroit or Chicago...guys would tripping over themselves to get BK to sign him...ZZ is a 22 year old big man that is improving..can't complain too much about that..especially when some wanted Eddie Curry. His D is not up to par...but you can say that about a bunch of Hawks. Hell, Al has not played a lick of D yet...but some wanted to resign him to a huge contract.

Smoove and Marvin will start, unless Shelden is just a beast in summer league and exhibition.

Well he is a force on the offensive glass....which is unusual..don't see a lot of very good offensive rebounders that can't rebound defensively.
