  1. JT is a good kid....he just is realizing that he does not have the talent or leadership or determination to turn this franchise around...so that is hard to accept because of the persona he has established in the community. I can say that I am more wiser now at 29 than I was at 25 or 26 so JT will learn from this. I think it is best for JT and the Hawks he is traded to a winning team with a great coach...if a great coach is not brought to ATL. I think the thing that has hurt the Hawks the most since Reef and Theo have been here is that we have not had starting quality vet guards to play with Reef and Theo. Some solid vet guards and a demanding successful vet coach can win in ATL.

  2. You are a funny dude....it seems you have a obsession with proving you are right no matter how wrong or right you are.

You must have missed the game before where Dog scored 2 points and had 3 turnovers in 16 minutes......and he was booed after 2 turnovers in the second quarter and received some cheers when he was benched early in the third.

You must have been making a sandwich...or just failed to mention you saw that game.

  3. Theo was on the Stews earlier this year and he said basically the same thing. They asked about Dog and his TOs and shot selection/lack of defense and Theo said it was up to the coaches to allow that to happen. He said we need to play inside out every night to move the defense and our guards need to work harder to deny penetration. He just seem to have little faith in Stotts to make changes.

Something has to happen ......trade or fire somebody!

It does not make sense to do the same thing night in and night out.

  4. I see how you that you leave out the fact that when Boris is on the floor he is running the team...when Howard is out there he is running around chucking up shots like the rest of the Mavs of course he is scoring more....much more has been asked of Boris ...we have asked Boris a 6'8 French rookie to run our team lately...that is a lot to ask....while Howard is asked to run around and fling up shots ....much easier to do don't you think....sometimes you have to look below the surface...Howard will be lucky to have a Walt Williams type career.

  5. The Atlanta Hawks have suspended guard Stephen Jackson for tomorrow night’s game against Denver for conduct detrimental to the team, according to General Manager Billy Knight.

Jackson’s absence from the team will only pertain to Tuesday’s game against the Nuggets, and he will rejoin the team on their charter flight to Memphis tomorrow night and be in uniform Wednesday against the Grizzlies.

  6. NY Post

As the Knicks search other teams' rosters for potentially available shooting guards to play a backup role, one name sticks out - Atlanta's combo guard Jason Terry, about whom Layden had inquired last season.

Terry, who can't be dealt until Dec. 15 after the Hawks matched the Jazz' offer sheet in September, starts for Atlanta at point guard. But nobody considers him a true point.

Terry could fill the Knicks' need for a backup shooting guard and could play some minutes at PG, allowing turnover-prone Howard Eisley to sit.

The Knicks seem to have enough pawns to draw Atlanta's interest since the Hawks are getting new owners, are going nowhere this season, are looking to be under the cap in two years and are overpaying Terry.

Remember, Hawk GM Billy King dispatched Glenn Robinson in the Latrell Sprewell four-team deal to inherit the $11 million contract of retiring Terrell Brandon as a cost-cutting move that gives them future cap-room flexibility.

Atlanta will shed two big contracts from its cap the summer after this one - Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Theo Ratliff. Othella Harrington, being shopped, also has his deal up in two years. Frank Williams' rookie deal expires in two years. Michael Doleac's is up after this season, as is Charlie Ward's.

The Knicks insist they will not move their draft picks, Mike Sweetney and Maciej Lampe, whose contracts can be traded Dec. 15. But 7-foot-5 Slavko Vranes could intrigue a rebuilder.

Terry, who was signed to a three-year, $22 million package, is a bundle of talent, averaging 18.7 points on 45 percent shooting. But he's got his critics and probably is better suited for a smaller role.

Another shooting guard who becomes trade-eligible Dec. 15 on a smaller scale is Denver's reigning Western Conference Player of the Week, Voshon Lenard, but Layden has only spoken to the Nuggets about Rodney White.

  7. It shouldn't take us that long to adjust to what teams do to us in the second half....its not like it something difficult to understand...they just pick up their intensity in the late stages of the game and we continue to play the same way we played the first half. We know our guards will get pressured full court...we know teams will over play the passing lanes ....we know they will double Reef immediately...and guards will dig down on our post players ...so what is the problem.....we can't continue to do the same things ...if it means putting different people on the floor at the end of games...or getting rid of somebody...or firing the coach... something has to be done.

  8. The sad thing is when we have leads we don't need a outstanding superstar playmaker to hold on to them. We need to just make basic basketball plays...We make stupid mistakes like throwing lazy inbound passes or getting picked bringing the ball up the floor or throwing a pass that everybody in the the world sees is going to be picked.....then we go in a shell thinking about how bad things are on O and we stop playing D.

    Same old sad song.

We need a coach that makes grown men wanna cry when they make these types of plays.

  9. Dog was a problem... but I don't think anybody here thought once Dog left we would when 50 games but what was the point of keeeping an overpaid old jump shooter with bad ankles... [censored] if we want to throw away money we can give it to Hendu and CC....when a jump shooter is taking the majority of shots on your team you are in trouble.

Our problem is effort and making decisions with the basketball.

we simply have to put JT in a position where he is scoring and not thinking. Now what do we do to solve that problem is the hard part.

I think a great vet coach could have us in the playoffs now with the talent we have.

  10. JT makes excuse after excuse...but it really isn't his fault he is a confused kid.....we need to stick him at SG tell him to score...never make him initiate a play....and tell him to play the best defense he can....and go from there. Like I said earlier if JT could make good decisions in transition he would probably be in the top three in assists ...if not leading the league.

His post entry passes are horrible...which is a shame because with his range he keeps his man from falling back into the post....this is killing our half court set..when we post we need a good passer that can shoot to feed Reef.

  11. The only reason those cats came out the locker room tonight is because the game was on the schedule...and they get paid.

If a trade can't be made...then you have to fire Stotts and hire a vet coach...that is just how pro sports work.

I think Diesel is right....Fratello would at least bring some exeprience and fire.... he would not stand around and watch us get out worked...JT has to be moved to SG he is killing us at the point...we might as well start Diaw at the point...can't be any worse.

  12. Uhhhh...didn't we win just as much when SAR was getting doubled the year before than we did when Dog supposedly drawing out the defense.

If you are comparing Niques offense with Big Dogs offense...then we should stop talking...Dog has never avg. more than 23 pts.....you act as if Dog is a scoring machine....hey guess what Nique scored more than Dog and played better defense ...if stats are what u are after look at Niques steals and blocks ......while he was carrying his team offensively...Dog has yet to carry a team like Nique did. [censored] if Nique would have played with talent like ray and sam we would have won a championship.

    Nique did more than score.

The 6-8 forward, who concluded his NBA career with 26,668 points, is the eighth all-time leading scorer in league history and his 24.8 career scoring average is 11th on the all-time charts. Wilkins' 23,292 points with the Hawks are the franchise's best, and he ranks second overall in team history in steals (1,245), sixth in assists (2,322) and fifth in blocked shots (592). On January 13, 2000, Wilkins achieved the highest individual team honor possible when he became the third player in club history to have his uniform number (#21) retired, joining Hawks legends Bob Pettit and Lou Hudson.

Please don't ever mention Nique and Big Dog in the same breath again...thank you kindly.

  13. Because Jax hustles and plays D and takes charges and dives for loose balls and provides toughness for less money....

and guess what.... he shoots 40% while doing all these things...while Dog shot 43% while doing none of them.

I mean, you figure it out.

You are quoting JT...of course he misses his dawg...I mean he has to go to the club with somebody.

JT is the same cat who said that teams wouldn't be able to stop us when Dog arrived.

JT also said it is time for him to step up and be a leader.

Some advice don't listen to anything JT says to the media.

We need to move JT to SG and tell him to shut up and score.

  14. ?I will agree that there are certain times that the stats don't tell the whole story. For instance, the stats won't really tell you that Vaughn is a better PG than JT. But when you watch the game you can tell that he is... "

So why wouldn't this apply to S Jax being a better all around player than Dog?

    Because you are hypocritical.

Because you think your opionion should trump mine

...when you obviously have not paid close enough attention to the what happened on the court last year. You know why I complained about Dog all summer...because I went back and watched tape...I watched tape of Dog with and with out the ball.....if you really want to have fun with this argument....I challenge anybody to watch tape of last year closely and tell me what you think of Dog.

"However, what I say is that YOU Cannot blame EVERY problem on Big Dog and NOT Consider:"

I never said he was the root of our problems...I said that he didn't help us...and that Jax is a better all around player.

    Stop twisting words.

And as far as listening to any player... I think Theo has the best understanding of winning basketball than anybody on this team.

  15. That is exactly how you define what a player brings by watching with your own eyes...not watching three games then hollering about stats 20 and 6...thats all you ever talk about.....when people bring up the facts that Dog didn't have intangibles, which is what we needed ..you sweep it under the rug.

OK stat man....Dog avg nearly 4 TOS a game.

Tell me how many layups did Dog allow.

Tell me how many times did Dog fail to get back in transition.

Tell me how many times did Dog hustle to make a play.

See winning basketball is much more than stats.

The fact is that Dog didn't help this team.

I have said all along he was not our only problem...but he was a big problem.

Dog shot ony 43% when he is supposedly a great shooter.

He avg. nearly 4 TOs a game!

Didn't play defense and jogged up and down the court nightly and you are defending him.

"Well, When asked Point blank about his Decline, JT said... We really miss having Dog complete the pick and Roll... That doesn't sound negative to me. "

JTs decline has been greatly exaggerated

....he is missing three assists well woopty doo!

If he didn't always make bad decisions in transition JT would avg. [censored] near 10 assists a game.

JT can't run a [censored] pick and roll. JT is so impressionable it is sickening anybody that comes to the Hawks he suggests that they are the savior...he is a young kid...who really doesn't know much about the game. He has Lee Nailon's number on his shoe for christ sakes.

If you think Reef was upset about Dog leaving than u r a fool

Reef says what the media wants him the say...the textbook answer. Look at the way they interacted on the court last year...

If you want to know the affect that Dog had on the Hawks listen to Theo ....he tells it like it is. Even Stotts has alluded to the fact that chemistry was better without dog...that we shared more.

If we made Jax the focal point of our offense and ran plays for Jax he could avg 20 pts a game...we probably wouldn't be a better team....but 20 point scorers sound good...but if they are like Dog and don't offer anything else ...and are liabilities on D you really don't gain anything.

In reality we won't be able to tell the affect Jax has on this team until the end of the season...but it sure as [censored] won't cost us much to find out will it?

If it is so easy to play D ....why didn't Dog do it.

If it is so easy to get back in transition (hustle)...why didn't Dog do it

If it is so easy to dribble without constantly turning the ball over.....why couldn't Dog do it.

If he is such a great shooter...why did he shoot 43%

"Tell me swole, where is the gain in trading Big Dog for Capspace."

It is simple we got rid of a player who got paid a huge amount of money and didn't help us at all.

If we needed space so badly and Dog is the stud you claim him to be I am sure we could got rid of Reef or Theo or JT.

I'm done talking about Dog...I'm glad his lazy ass is outta here!

  16. Did you watch Nique play? If you did you wouldn't say Dog is a scorer...MJ was a scorer....Kobe is a scorer... Glen Rice was a scorer in his early days but he became just a shooter.

Nique is a scorer Iverson is a scorer....they can create shots in any situation..if you threw Dog the ball with 5 seconds on the wing at 18 feet with a cat in his mug....you would probably get a turnover....with Nique MJ Kobe AI ....you would probably get a layup and 1.

.Dog is not a scorer....answer this question if Steve Kerr played 40 minutes a night on a team with at least two other players who could score and he shot 18-20 jumpers a night...how many points would you think Kerr would avg.

    I'd say around 20.

The way to judge a scorer...if you told him he couldn't shoot a jump shot could he score consistently one on one?
