  1. Can we all agree that Beal just aint it? He doesn't move the needle for me and is just a name guy that's always available. I don't think he is special at anything in particular. He is a gunner with a green light on a team that has been mediocre since he has been "the guy".
  2. Writing was on the wall after drafting Cooper and trading for Wright. Not to mention rumors of bringing Lou back. Just not enough room
  3. I don't hate it. Similar height, weight and wingspans. No vertical numbers on Jalen but he looks like he can get up on the break. Smith was a freak athlete though, especially early in his career before he added grown man weight. He used to fly. Similar jump shot question marks. Both can lead the break, dribble and pass. Smith's defensive instincts were special. Hopefully Jalen can bring some of that to the table. BBIQ, decision making, shot selection, maturity. Those are the things that kept Smith from becoming elite. Jalen has some similar question marks to answer. Hoping for the best.
  4. Can't forget DeRozen. Reports are he will take less money to play with the Lakers.
  5. Im pretty sure Queta went before Cooper. Yup, says he went 39th.
  6. I look at it like this Outgoing/unsigned Players Goodwin Snell Hill Lou Bruno Dunn Mays Knight Incoming/returning(*hopefully) players Cooper Johnson Wright Hill (*) Lou (*) Mays Knight There is one spot available for a big man in this case. Mays, Knight and Cooper are all 2 way candidates. Knight all of a sudden becomes expendable after we drafted Johnson (who coincidentally took Knight's jersey number too)
  7. When Sabonis signed his deal he had yet to become an All Star (and to me he still isn't) He was a 3rd year BENCH player who just came off of averaging 14ppg. Apples to apples JC blew Sabonis' production away when they were at the same time of their negotiations, which factors in to their different asking prices and ability to leverage in negotiations. It's easy to look in retrospect and say it was an underpay, but Sabonis really had not proven anything but potential at that point.
  8. I disagree with everything except the bolded. All of Travis' signings made an impact individually last year. And as a collective, his foresight of stocking our roster with a ton of depth as insurance against potential Covid absences paid off big time when we got decimated by injury. We were deep and able to trot out quality talent even with a full list of guys out. That was not by mistake. As far as being forced to make bad decisions, we have plenty of talent at PF with Gallo, JJ and Knight. Schlenk can totally let JC walk if he wanted to. Our back are not up against the wall by any means to re-sign him. We WANT him back.
  9. Teams get desperate, especially when they don't have great planning and foresight. They probably know he wont improve, but they have to overpay to acquire/retain talent.
  10. As it stands based on this, John falls way short of a true Max deal if its 5 years. And if it 4 years then its still just under that too.
  11. I was using the 30% numbers but I follow. To me, when people toss around the Max title, it's based on the guys in that 30% class John is still under 25% as it stands now.
  12. So MAX in title only. But not a backbreaking contract by any means. A MAX from us is somewhere in the $172-180 range if Im not mistaken Sounds like JC is getting anywhere from 24 to 25 mil per year, which is what most of us had been saying all season long. The difference is the 5th year, which plenty are debating about the consequences of right now. Either way, he was offered 22.5 per before the season, he will only get slightly more than that now, I don't see it as awful by any means.
  13. If this is true: The 5th year is a win for JC's side. He may have conceded the per year money in compromise to get the 5th year. 5/$120 is only $1.5 per year more than his previous 4/$90 offer.
  14. Thing thing about Lou is he is worth too much financially to bring back. He can still play a deserves his bread. I wouldn't even want to ask him to take a discount. Meanwhile Solo's cost bracket fits our roster construction well. As stated he is also okay with that role for us and doesn't need guaranteed time. It's a realistic chance at bringing him back as opposed to Lou at this point.
  15. I feel for their fanbase, they are so poorly managed and havent had a winning record in 15 years. Matter of fact, the Webber era, their 8 year run, were the only times they have had winning records in Sacramento. 13 losing seasons, then 8 years of success, then 15 more losing seasons and counting.
  16. Mays is a lot better than most 2nd year/2nd round picks. He is older than you would think at 23, and is actually older than JC by a few weeks believe it or not. So he isn't as mentality raw as most young players. He plays with maturity and does not make a lot of mistakes on the court. He may be at or near his ceiling, but I thought he brought some really valuable skills to the table in his limited time. I don't have anything negative to say about him or his game. I think he is a true combo. His roster spot may be as 3rd string SG, but he offers a great option as a change of pace PG if we decide to go with more size and strength as opposed to Cooper. Im high on him, even of Im not expecting anything more than an end of rotation role player. But I'm fully confident he can excel at that responsibility.
  17. Two thoughts; 1) It's starting to look like the 70's again the way these young cats all rock big fro's nowadays. I know it's styled differently today but it's all got it's roots back in the original. 2) I wondered if Knight was going to come off of #1. UDFA's probably don't have the right to retain jersey numbers incoming vets and 1st round picks. Jalen definitely took claim to it fast. Good for them. I love when guys get to rock their college numbers.
  18. They literally just let us draft Trae and JC 2.0 to come off the bench. Summer league about to be too LIT Coop, Sky, Cam, Jalen, Knight. Mane get back
  19. Bro, game over. We knocked this one out of the park. 2 steals, 2 top 20 players. Wow, we crushed this draft!
  20. Damn, McBride was one of them. Still good choices left though.
  21. Some good PG's still available that I would have been happy with at 20
  22. Is that silk? Oooooo weeee, I see you youngin
  23. No doubt. His post passing is unlike anything we currently have on the roster. That's a skill that stars are made of. I will say, with Hunter down at the start of the year you may see him get minutes at backup 3. He is a combo forward by all intents and purposes, even though I think he can be an elite 4.
  24. https://www.nba.com/stats/draft/combine-anthro/ Official measurements have him at 6'7.75" w/o shoes and a 7'0.25" wingspan. So slightly different than the 6'9 + 6'11 numbers that are out there. Legit 6'8 with a 7 foot plus wingspan
