  1. Correct. I meant on average. I think his outside max is 4 years 120 mil. Starts at 28 with 5% raises, ends around 32.
  2. That's a lot of money tied up in that as their "Big 3". 44 on avg for Dame 35 on average for Simmons And if they're the leader for Collins then they have to near 30 mil per for him.
  3. I sincerely believe that Kris Dunn may be the Dog that Solo said we were missing. He has an attack mentality on defense that is matched maybe only by Cam.
  4. All speculative on my part. Connecting the dots. Pop went to bat for LP saying the Hawks made a huge mistake firing him, blamed our front office for not building a team that could win ( which goes to show what he thinks of our players). Pop has yet to comment on the success of Nate. So Im sure there is a lack of "keeping it real" behind closed doors. Pop, who carries so much respect, isn't going to feel inclined to backtrack on his comments. So it only makes sense for him to double down and support LP even more. Any negative opinion LP has about the Hawks or Trae, Pop will support it and Lloyd. I'm sure in their inner circle there is a bit of resentment towards Trae and what they consider to be players like him. Young stars who get their way from the franchise and get their HC's fired. (Something to that effect) I don't see anyone in USA basketball willing to go against Pop, or go to bat for Trae. It's not worth ruffling feathers in house. They can just choose anyone else and avoid the potential locker room friction.
  5. Zeke had MJ working against him behind the scenes. Trae has LP. Lloyd apparently is the golden child of young coaches. His history with Trae all but assures the 2 will never work together with the national team again. 1 or the other but not both.
  6. Allegedly they are considering Duncan Robinson.....
  7. There is a ton of duplication of skillsets on the roster. I agree Trae and Lou are the weaker comparison, followed by JC and Gallo. But there are still a ton of similarities between them. As mentioned, the scoring of Trae and Lou, and to me, the ability to draw fouls and get to the line was a lot more alike than the other stuff. JC and Gallo are both stretch 4's that can get you buckets in the post. Gallo is obviously a little more dynamic in that regard, as he can handle the rock better, and JC obviously stronger on the glass, defensively, and as a vertical threat. To Sturt's point, there is enough variance that each player can bring something different to the table when they are on the court. But stylistically, we were able to maintain our identity and not have to deviate completely away from our strengths just because we subbed a guy in or out. We could run PnR with the 5's, PnP with the 4's, the wings all could space the floor, we had a secondary ballhandler in both of our 2's, Defense and DPS with both Cam and Dre. All to different degree's of strength. I think the only times we drastically shifted our play style was when Dunn and Cam were both on the floor and you saw ball pressure like never before. When Gallo and JC play together and you get more spacing. JC, Gallo, and CC together giving you more size and rebounding.
  8. From what I read, the vaccines have been effective in minimizing the effect of the variant infections. As in virtually no hospitalizations or deaths.
  9. I thought we technically did build around Al, he was the last one standing of that group. He was the only one to make it to the Bud era. The Bud Hawks definitely fit his style of play. He had a 4 year run as the top guy on the team. After his injuries he lost his will to fight for rebounds. Millsap was the more assertive 2-way player. Al was content to be a stretch 4 and Millsap bang down low.
  10. I refuse to google Fournier lol They can kick rocks, we bailed their butts out of 2 different wars, they owe us the freedom to jack up their names lol
  11. I forgot that France was loaded too, Gobert, Batum, Fornier, Frank Nitty from the Knicks and TLC from the Nets.
  12. This was a team defense breakdown, but I want y'all to see how many times John was making the right defensive reads. This was the game where people were saying he should have stepped up more. But that's ignoring what he was able to do defensively. Clint is supposed to be the defensive captain, but you see John barking at his teammates. There was a sequence in the 1st quarter where he was on Giannis in the post, slid in front of him to get the steal, and after the break was able to find Capela for a lob dunk after attacking a close out. This was a game where he scored 4 points, but had the highest plus minus on the team at +26 in a game that was won by 22. In only 29 mins, which was 2nd fewest of the starters, he was making a winning impact beyond the stat sheet. He does not get enough credit for being a team player on both ends.
  13. Team USA is bouncing back against Argentina right now. I will say, to be fair, in the Olympic field, Nigeria has the most NBA players outside of team USA, most of them bench guys, and Australia has the best mix of NBA players and talent/experience. Other than those 2 teams, Slovenia (Luka) is the only other team to worry about. And that's only because of Luka. Its a pretty weak field overall. Japan- Rui Italy- Gallo Iran France Czech Spain- Gasol brothers and Rubio Nigeria- beat us by 3 Australia- beat us Slovenia- Luka Argentina Germany
  14. I think the teams that want John, aren't willing or in a position to offer him more than we would. I think he obviously chooses us in a situation where the money is close. The only way he leaves is if somebody knocks his socks off which as stated above isn't the likeliest scenario.

    Backup PG

https://www.sportstalkatl.com/hawks-ranking-the-five-best-free-agent-point-guards-that-could-back-up-trae-young/ 5. Patty Mills 4. Lou 3. McConnell 2. Payne 1. Rose According to them
  19. Shout out to Hawks alum Willie Green on being named the new HC of the Pelicans. Played on one of my favorite Hawks teams in 2011-12 with a deep bench that rivaled the one we have now. Hinrich, Pargo, Green, Stackhouse, McGrady, Radmonovic, Dampier, along with Hawks faves Zaza and Ivan Johnson. Those were the backups to Teague, Joe, Marv, Josh, and Al. Such a fun season and team that I wish stuck together longer. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/31807977/phoenix-suns-assistant-willie-green-emerges-strong-frontrunner-new-orleans-pelicans-head-coaching-job-sources-say?platform=amp
  20. 1. Hawks 2. Falcons 3. UGA 4. Braves 5. GT
  21. One leg Bogi left a bad taste in folks mouths I see. He was not the same offensively or defensively while he was hurt. But when healthy, Bogi was a two way player and an absolute stud on offense.
  22. Agree on Trae. Losing was the plan all along, not his fault. And for Grant you don't have to imagine. He already was a part of winning situations in Den and OKC.
  23. Nah.... I'd like a long series, but Suns to take it.
  24. Trae's evolution under Nate was a lot more nuance than anything. Nate allowed him to play his game, but he taught him how to pick his spots. He said the biggest thing he noticed was Trae played every quarter the same, and as the PG you can't do that. You can't play the 4th quarter the same way you played the 1st. Your decision making when closing out games has to be different. We all know how much we improved in the 4th quarter under Nate. That was his biggest impact on Trae if you ask me.
  25. The whole Grant thing about having good stats on a bad team discounts just how good he was for Denver the year before. He was most definitely a difference maker and a key piece for them. I wanted us to add Grant last offseason, before he broke out in Denver. My Free agent wish list was Dunn and Grant. We chose to sign Gallo instead for the same money, which worked out well. But Grant is not some empty calories guy. Maybe his numbers are bloated due to usage, but he has proven what he brings to winning teams. As far as JC for Grant; the ONLY thing against this for me is the locker room/chemistry. That's it. If JC is out of the door anyway then so be it. But if we are close on a number, it's worth bringing him back for that alone.
