  1. With the 159th pick in the draft, the Marvy Marv's select:

    MITCHELL ROBINSON

    USATSI_10928507-1024x765.jpg

I think Robinson will be a monster on defense. He has the physical tools to be an elite defensive big in today'a NBA. Shot blocking, rim protection, pick & roll defense, and switching. Robinson has the potential to be great to elite in all those aspects on defense if he puts in the work.

    PG: Jrue Holiday/D'angelo Russell/De'Aaron Fox

    SG: Jimmy Butler/Eric Gordon

SF: Gordon Hayward/Rondae Hollis-Jefferson/Kelly Oubre Jr

    PF: Nikola Mirotic/Jordan Bell

    C: Nikola Jokic/Jaren Jackson Jr/Mitchell Robinson

  2. oh boy sorry about that fellas, had a long day today. To keep it moving, with the 154th pick in the draft, the Marvy Marv's select:

    KELLY OUBRE JR

    oubre-Cropped-500x667.jpg

Oubre is a bit of a mixed bag but I like his overall skillset and his upside. He's really streaky so far but when his jumper is falling, he's a good athletic 3&D guy to bring off the bench at the 3 or 4 if playing small ball.

    PG: Jrue Holiday/D'angelo Russell/De'Aaron Fox

    SG: Jimmy Butler/Eric Gordon

SF: Gordon Hayward/Rondae Hollis Jefferson/Kelly Oubre Jr

    PF: Nikola Mirotic/Jordan Bell

    C: Nikola Jokic/Jaren Jackson Jr

    HEAD COACH: Erik Spoelstra

  3. With the 135th pick in the draft, the Marvy Marv's select

    ERIK SPOELSTRA

    020413-erik-spoelstra-e1428689055487.jpg

I took Spoelstra here for his defensive schemes. He's had the Heat in the top 10 in DRTG for the past few years. Offensively he's a hit or miss but I think he'll be fine. Futhermore, he has multiple years of post season experience under his belt. I wanted a coach who has that experience in order to prepare the players better for when that time comes. He also seems to be a solid for player development, as he has turned Josh Richardson, Hassan Whiteside, and Tyler Johnson into rotation worthy players. I'm hoping he'll do wonders for Fox, Russell, JJJ, and Bell in the future. All in all I just thought he was a good balance between contention and player development. There was another coach I had in mind but he doesn't seem very high on playing young players.

  4. With the 130th pick in the draft, the Marvy Marv's select

    JORDAN BELL

    576555_n.jpg

Jordan Bell is an excellent player to bring off the bench. Hustle, defense, and rebounding. Every team can use a high energy guy off the bench and Bell will be that player for us. He knows his role well and only plays to his strengths. I'll use him as a backup pf and slide JJJ to the backup C.

    PG: Jrue Holiday/D'angelo Russell/De'Aaron Fox

    SG: Jimmy Butler/Eric Gordon

    SF: Gordon Hayward/Rondae Hollis-Jefferson

    PF: Nikola Mirotic/Jordan Bell

    C: Nikola Jokic/Jaren Jackson Jr

  5. oh nice, looks like I came here at just the right time. With that being said, with the 106th pick in the draft, the Marvy Marv's select:

    D'angelo Russell

    dangelo.jpg?w=620&h=349

Another pick for the future. I wanted to snag him here just to be safe. With all that out of the way, I'm still a believer in Russell. Before his injury last year, he was really showing out. I think he averaged 20 and 5, which is a great sign. His shooting could use some work still, but I like his skillset. Good ball handler, solid vision, and has the ability to create his own shot. I've always felt that he was more suited to play the SG on both offense and defense. Thats what I want him to groom him as on this team. However, with my team wanting to contend, i'll stick him at the backup 1 spot for now but he'll see time as the backup 2 or 3 in certain situations.

    PG: Jrue Holiday/D'angelo Russell/De'Aaron Fox

    SG: Jimmy Butler/Eric Gordon

    SF: Gordon Hayward

    PF:Nikola Mirotic/Jaren Jackson Jr

    C: Nikola Jokic

  6. Alright alright. With the 87th pick in the draft, the Marvy Marv's select:

    NIKOLA MIROTIC

    800.jpeg

Getting Mirotic with the 87th pick is great value. I had him and another big in mind but ended up selecting Mirotic because of he was more of a defender. In fact, he's pretty underrated on that end. + DRPM every year in his career and he was great in the eye test when I was watching him ball against the Blazers. Offensively he'll fit in like a glove. Pick and pop, pick and roll's, catch and shoot, Mirotic is a player who can excel in the offense while not needing the ball in his hands. The only real problem I have with him is that he's really streaky with his shooting. However, with all the other offensive power I have, as long as he can defend well he'll still be a positive on the floor. I'll be starting him over JJJ as contention for the championship is a must on my team.

    PG: Jrue Holiday/De'Aaron Fox

    SG: Jimmy Butler/Eric Gordon

    SF: Gordon Hayward

    PF: Nikola Mirotic/Jaren Jackson Jr

    C: Nikola Jokic

  7. With the 82nd pick in the draft, the Marvy Marv's select:

    DE'AARON FOX

    GettyImages-866060898-1509465277.jpeg

De'Aaron Fox is a young player who has 2 way upside. It's time to add some young talent to this team to have some prospects to look forward to once our contention window is over. Fox had a bit of a rough rookie year but he'll be fine. His shooting form looks fine so if he puts in the work, I can see him being a solid shooter when all is said and done. Defensively he has the quicks to stay in front of anyone so he has great potential on that end to build upon

    PG: Jrue Holiday/De'Aaron Fox

    SG: Jimmy Butler/Eric Gorfon

    SF: Gordon Hayward

    PF: Jaren Jackson Jr

    C: Nikola Jokic

  8. With the 63rd pick in the draft, the Marvy Marv's select:

    ERIC GORDON

    eric-gordon.jpg

This was a tough tough choice. I want to start building for the future but I also want this team to be able to contend with Butler, Hayward, and Holiday all hitting their primes. Gordon is arguably the best sixth man in the game. He has the potential to carry bench units by himself at times with his excellent scoring ability. I'm hoping he will be able to be a stabilizing force for my planned 2nd unit.

    PG: Jrue Holiday

    SG: Jimmy Butler/Eric Gordon

    SF: Gordon Hayward

    PF: Jaren Jackson Jr

    C: Nikola Jokic

  9. With the 58th pick in the draft, the Marvy Marv's select Hawksquawk's favorite controversial prospect

    JAREN JACKSON JR

    jackson_300_20180425.jpg\

This pick is all about upside and fit. There's other players I wanted but I decided to take the risk and take JJJ just in case someone else gets him. JJJ imo is just a tremendous fit next to Jokic. He provides much needed interior defense and shotblocking. Offensively he provides much needed floor spacing. All in all I just love his skillset moving forward with this team.

    SG: Jimmy Butler

    SF: Gordon Hayward

  10. With the 39th pick in the draft, the Marvy Marv's select:

    JRUE HOLIDAY

    Screen-Shot-2017-12-19-at-12.32.12-PM.pn

Holiday is another elite defender who offers a versatility on both ends. Pairing him up with Butler would make for a fantastic duo on defense. Offensively, he provides solid play making and shooting ability. He has turnover problems when playing as the lead guard but he should fine on this team. He was at his best when he wasn't asked to do too much in terms of ball-handling. With Butler and Hayward being able to handle the rock, he should be able to replicate his excellent play this last season.

    PG: Jrue Holiday

    SG: Jimmy Butler

    SF: Gordon Hayward

  11. With the 34th pick in the draft, the Marvy Marv's select

    GORDON HAYWARD

    gh2.jpg

Hayward is coming fresh off a gruesome injury so it's definitely a risk. However, with reports stating that it was a clean break, i'm confident that he will be able to come back strong and produce at all-star levels again. Hayward is a player who can play with the ball in his hands or off ball. He's an excellent cutter and can he can run off screens for catch-and-shoot situations. It makes it easier to integrate his skillset into the offense because he doesn't need to have the ball in his hands at all times. Defensively, he's solid. Not a liability and is able to hold his own on that end. It's important to surround Jokic with solid defenders to help take the pressure off him. Hayward will be slotted at the 3 and Butler will move to the 2.

  12. With the 15th pick in the draft, the Marvy Marvs select:

    JIMMY BUTLER

    jimmy-butler_1auivhquxyyav1rdctvy5rw2al.

This was an easy pick. Butler is one of the best 2-way players in todays game. Butler may not be a superstar type offensive talent but he gets the job done. 22/5/5 averages on 47/35/85 shooting splits. He's also terrific at getting the the FT line, as evidenced by his 7.2 FTA. With that being said, the main selling point here was his defense. He's a terrific defender who will help shore up my teams perimeter defense. Great versatility on that end and can guard 1-4. I'm not quite sure where i'll slot him in right now, seeing how there's still so many great players available. Butler being able to man either the 2 or 3 offers great flexibility moving forward in the draft.
