Not passive . . . just taking what the defense gave him.
Guys had open looks and had some point blank looks at the rim. They just didn't make the shots.
Now Trae is forcing the action a little more. He just needs to figure it out. He's beginning to do just that.
"Taking what the defense gives him"
Dude had an early shotclock off the dribble 3 blocked.

But it wasn't Trae missing all of the shots.'
Trae looks extremely passive this game. He isn't even trying to get around Simmons in single coverage.

Not every game. But in this situation, he may be needed.
I love Okongwu's rim protection activity. But he'll get eaten alive trying to guard Embiid, because he's just not strong enough. This is also the issue with Collins and his post defense.
Bruno doesn't do a lot of things well these days, but post defense isn't one of them. His post defense has always been on point.
Embiid would just take him off the dribble or step back. Bruno is not a good defender in space.

Ummm . . . we need Bruno in this situation. Okongwu is excellent in rim protection. But in actual guarding the post, Bruno is the guy.
lmao I feel like you call for Bruno in every single game thread. Bru Crew till the end

Hunter drills that. Ah well, we're still ok as long as we tighten back up.
If Solo could consistently hit open 3s, he would be a pretty good player.

Who knew Gallo had these handles!?

Deny the lob, get the float.
Can he get the float with Simmons switched onto him? I think Simmons has the length to disrupt it, even if he is on Traes hip.
-
I've read on some sixers boards that they expect Simmons to guard Capella and Green to guard Trae for stretches so they can switch the 1-5 pnr. Capella isn't really a strong post player so if they can deny the lob, it isn't a terrible switch.
Dwight and Ben Simmons on the floor together has been absolutely horrible this year since Simmons needs space in the paint.

That means it's up to us to stop the SuperFriends.
Since we're the "villains", may as well act like The Legion of Doom.
- Lex Luthor - Schlenk . . . ( started to make this Nate, but the bald head evil genius of the Hawks is Travis )
- Captain Cold - Trae
- Sinestro - Bogi
- Bizzaro - Gallo
- Solomon Grundy - Solo
- Cheetah - Lou Williams . . . ( I'm sure Lou has been there too )
- Brainiac - Collins
- Black Manta - Hunter
- Grodd - ( leaving this blank because I don't want to be cancelled, or called a racist, or a self-hater, etc )
- The Toy Man - Okongwu . . . ( No, I'm not changing him to Grodd )
- Riddler - Capela
- Giganta - Huerter . . . ( both red heads )
- Scarecrow - Cam
This list is incredible! One slight tweak though...I think Bruno should be Solomon Grundy.

Bulletin board material is overrated.
Seriously. Their season is on the line, and they need some trash talk to get up for the game? B.S.

Let's get Gallo to the second round tomorrow.
How do you even guard that shot?

IF we get to the next round. ( no jinx )
Watching the Wizards deploy the "Hack a Ben" strategy. I knew he was a bad FT shooter, but nothing like this.
2 - 4 so far . . . Wizards foul for the last time before the 2 min mark
2 - 5
3 - 6
Hmmmmmmm
If we do this to them, they may hack Capela and get us back.
What an awful game that would devolve to. 2 minutes per half of Capella and Simmons at the stripe.

Gallo with 21 points on 9 shots. Insane efficiency to go with tough, physical defense. I hope he stays locked in like this for the rest of the playoffs!

PLAYOFF HUERTER HAS ARRIVED!!!
Dude has been punishing Noel since he tripped trae. He took two flagrants against him since the trip!
He is so so aggressive on both ends. Easily the best basketball of his life at the exact right moment!!

Huerter is playing so aggressively. Awesome stretch by him. Lou, on the other hand, looks passive and is hesitating on his offense. Another matinee struggle game for him.

Of course Trae is gonna eat their wack guard battery especially if they don’t face guard and pressure him backcourt, nothing really impressive there. I like how he didn’t force the issue in the first half more than anything.
ROFL, 32-10-7 on great efficiency and only 2 turnovers for a first playoff game against one of the best defenses in the league is "Nothing impressive". You are starting to sound like Peo with these hard-headed takes.
