  1. 'The odds of them winning in 2011, 12 and 14 are roughly 0.05%.

I don't buy the conspiracy theory because I don't see an economic motive for the NBA to want Lebron in Cleveland and because I don't see the auditors risking their business on fixing the NBA lottery when they have no financial stake in its outcome and receive little money for auditing the process, but Cleveland has definitely beat the odds.

Just because the odds are low doesn't mean the odds are 0.  I think that's what people have a hard time swallowing.

  2. It's extremely rare that an official really is out to "get" your team (or the home team or whatever category in question). I think confirmation bias for refs is at play...you get to hear about "Joey Crawford just T-d up Duncan for no reason!!" and then you start looking for it. And if you're looking for instances where Joey Crawford makes awful calls then you'll find them. That works for most every ref.

Curious question for the board, but is there an NBA ref that you know by name and you go "hell yeah! that guy rocks!!" or something to that effect?

  3. Mrs. Dejay does the same thing with the Rock. Then I counter by watching an episode of Friends With Benefits on Netflix where Jessica Lucas is prancing around in her bra half the time and, well...

I just can't imagine a positive end to that story.

  4. Of my gf continuously calling Horford "A gorgeous man"...

    But on the other hand...

HAWKS ARE IN ECF FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE......I LOVE IT :-)

But seriously she needs to chill with Horford and his "beautiful eyes"...

You know whose looking beautiful to me right now...

    Teague

    Korver

    DMC

    Millsap

    Horford

And the entire bench...and of course Bud and Ferry...

LOL you betta get Palmela Handerson in check!

  5. How come nobody is talking about the fact Paul Pierce traveled? It was great D and he had to travel to get the shot off.

No ref will ever call that at the end of the game, especially on such a pretty move.

I hate Paul Pierce, but I can't help but respect his game.  He hit huge shot after huge shot.  Sure he probably lost them games 5 and 6, but that's not what we will remember in a couple years when we reflect on this series.

Let's give the man his due.

  6. Yeah, they were calling some ticky-tack stuff late in that game and you could see the frustration on Teage's face when they zoomed in on him.

TBF, Jeff's face always looks like he doesn't get enough fiber and hasn't pooped in 6 days.

As far as the topic is concerned, our defense was absolutely excellent at the end.  Paul Pierce had to practically Euro-step past Kyle Korver on the perimeter into an off-balance fall away 3 at the buzzer(He might've been out of bounds).  As the defending team, you can't ask for a worse shot without it actually being blocked.  Hitting that is a 1/100 chance, but Pierce's prayer was ALMOST answered.

If I was the Hawks, I would hope every buzzer beater comes down to a shot like that.  We are much better at defense than we are at defensive rebounding, so I'd rather we play to our strengths.

  7. It depends on coaching...If the hawks continue to play Dennis big minutes, Teague at the 2 position, Pero significant minutes, have late 4th quarter substitutions, Run a bunch of iso plays for Millsap, continue to look for Korver when he is cold...Things won't go well for the Hawks

Lol you sound like Whitman with that salty @$% analysis.

  8. We don't need to resort the thuggery.   We just need to beat their ass.   We want to be the best team in the nba then go out and play Hawks basketball.

This isn't about thuggery.  These guys are competing at the highest level; if you step onto the court with an injury, you better believe the opponent will take advantage of it.  He knows the risks.  If he can't handle that, he should be watching from his couch.

  9. If you've ever watched Musky this season then you know that he ALWAYS calls for the ball. He's actually calmed it down a lotbin the playoffs because I think everyone was getting annoyed at his Terrell Owens impressions.

He'd be losing so many points on 2K14.

  10. He wasn't bad on D

He just isn't good at post defense.  He tries really hard, but almost every play up the floor, the Wizards isolated Nene or Gortat on him in the post, resulting in a score, a foul, or an and-1.  This is the reason why Moose was -8 even though he was so good on offense.

  11. Yeah, I'm not really getting a huge originality vibe from this stuff, but I also don't care that much about uniforms. I know there are some people who recognize if there is a different colored trim on the jerseys, and my attention to uniform detail is nowhere close to that level.

One thing that slightly irks me about uniforms is the lack of an Atlanta presence...err hell it's not really just Atlanta but a lack of City/State presence for pretty much all teams. Is the nickname really that important? You don't see a nickname as the main way to refer to European teams (I guess some don't have them) and not likely with college teams...and hell, didn't the City of Atlanta toss in a whole heckuva lot of subsidies towards the team?

[if you want a shockjock take on this subject, then let's discuss how Hawks is short for Blackhawks and OMG so racist huh? {/sarcasm}]

Is that you, Senator Harry Reid?
