  1. Ersan must have a few side chicks in the A. Playing to win? Dude, we have 17 wins on the season. If we were playing to win, you'd be getting less minutes, and Collins would be starting. Schlenk: "OK Ersan, we have trade offers from Portland, Detroit, and the Pelicans, who just lost Boogie a few weeks ago. You'll get extensive playing time in those places. And these are all teams currently in the playoff hunt." Ersan: "Just tell me one thing man. Are we tanking, or are we playing to win?" Schlenk: "Well . . our goal this year was to keep being competitive. I don't like to use the word "tanking", because we're not deliberately trying to lose games. Our goal this year is to build good team chemistry and go into next year with better cohesion, and a few young talented pieces." Ersan: "So we're not tanking?" Schlenk: "No" Ersan: "OK . . I'll stay then" Schlenk:
  2. Great win by the squad. And no worries . . . Cleveland completely laid down in the 2nd half, and let the Magic cruise to victory. A 9 point 4th quarter for them tonight? Somebody is either going to get beat up . . or fired. Lue gets sick in the game, and goes to the locker room with the Cavs up by 17. Cavs end up losing by 18. Outscored 65 - 31 in the 2nd half. WOW!!
  3. This will help our defense. A lateral move that won't move the needle negatively from a W/L standpoint.
  4. Mass hysteria for nothing. We still have the 2nd most ping pong balls. And the GM will "deactivate" both Baze and Dennis with "injury", before being out of the top 3 is in jeopardy. Once the All-Star break comes around, this team will have a couple of long losing streaks. The worst record could very well have 23 wins, because a lot of those bottom playoff teams can and will lose to anybody. Orlando up by 4 vs Miami, with 4 minutes to go in the 4th, as I type this. ( lol . . they were up 14 just 4 minutes ago )
  5. He had played so bad in January, that I was going to say that he didn't deserve the spot. But I cant deny the work he put in during the previous 3 months. It was nice to see him bounce back last night.
  6. He goes into the Hawksquawk Hall of Fame . . . no doubt on that.
  7. Incredibly, this feat has been achieved a lot more than you think. 21 forwards or guard/forwards have achieved this dubious feat of 0 point and 1 rebound in at least 25 minutes of play. In all though, this has happened 202 times in the history of the NBA. It looks like the culprits are guys who are low shot volume/defensive guards and wings . . or guys who just had career low shooting nights. Tidbits - Bruce Bowen is the leader with 4 of these games in his career - Two of the worst games were played by David Wesley back in 2001, who had an 0 - 13 FG . . 0 point . . 1 rebound . . 4 turnover game . . with an offensive rating of 4. The other was by the great Ricky Davis, who back in 2006 played a whopping 45 minutes in a 48 minute game . . went 0 - 8 FG . . with 0 points and 1 rebound. He did have 5 assists though. - There have been 7 guys who have recorded 10 or more assists, while not scoring a point and grabbing 1 rebound, most notably Anthony Carter in 2008 ( 14 assists ), Jason Kidd in 2011 ( 13 assists ), and Dennis Johnson in 1989 ( 11 assists ). - The Hawks have held guys to this mark on 7 occasions, with Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf and Stephen Jackson being the most notable in that group. - And last but not least, 5 of your Atlanta Hawks have achieved this Armond Hill back in 1977, who did have a 9 assist game to go along with this Michael Bibby ( who actually did this twice, but only once as a Hawk ) back in 2010 in a loss to the Spurs, going 0 - 4 FG in 27 minutes. Anthony Tolliver in 2013, in a late regular season loss to the Spurs. Taurean Prince last night, in his invisible man act vs Charlotte. And the friend to all of us . . Malcolm Delaney back in November, who did this while compiling 5 assists and a ( -15 ) plus/minus in a loss vs the Spurs. https://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pgl_finder.cgi?request=1&match=game&year_min=1964&year_max=2018&is_playoffs=N&age_min=0&age_max=99&season_start=1&season_end=-1&pos_is_g=Y&pos_is_gf=Y&pos_is_f=Y&pos_is_fg=Y&pos_is_fc=Y&pos_is_c=Y&pos_is_cf=Y&c1stat=pts&c1comp=eq&c1val=0&c2stat=trb&c2comp=eq&c2val=1&c3stat=mp&c3comp=gt&c3val=25&order_by=fga
  8. Taurean Prince quickly becoming a poor man's Marvin Williams.
  9. Ummm . . . our fan base did it. When Al Horford walked on the Hawks, the fan base basically disowned him, and hate him to this day.. When Joe Johnson got traded, most in the fan base celebrated the move by ownership . . . and still acted like the dude left on his own, by booing him every time he came back to Atlanta for about 2 - 3 seasons. The same goes for Dwight Howard. He chose to come here. The team trades him. Most in the fan base liked the move, but supposedly hate Dwight now. Fans are much more harsher when good players make decisions to supposedly better themselves, than when ownership make moves to supposedly better the team . . even if it doesn't better the team short term.
  10. Good win by the squad tonight. That brings the Hawks to 4 - 4 at home in January, and 7 - 4 in their last 11 home games. We're 1 - 6 on the road. 17 road games left 15 home game left When you look at the road games, we MIGHT win 3 of those games. 5 at the most. For the home games, we've proven that we can beat anybody at home. So let's say we go 8 - 7 the rest of the way at home. That;s 11 - 13 more wins at the max. I say that Dennis will be "deactivated" sometime in March. Possibly Baze as well . . . with "injuries". That'll keep the win total down. We'll go 8 - 24 the rest of the way. That puts us at 23 wins.
  11. The team trading for the non superstar almost never win the deal.
  12. The Hawks keep doubling perimeter shooters. And Bud wonders why there are so many open shots. Make people guard their man straight up, instead of trying to force the guy into throwing a bad pass. All it does it makes the defense look stupid, when guys have no one within 10 feet of them when they're shooting a 3. We double the perimeter AND the post.
  13. LOL . . another open 3 . . and Bud calls a timeout. Maybe it's your scheme Bud, and not the players.
  14. Bud is dead to me . . . until next season. I can't even evaluate the dude, because he's purposely putting bad lineup combinations together. What I do know, is the defensive scheme may have to change. People shooting wide open 3s. Meanwhile, we're 5 - 23 from 3.
  15. For the tank crew. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yackgqul Nevermind. JTBs is much worse.
  16. For the tank crew. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yackgqul
  17. LOL @ the Wizards. They lose by 23 to Dallas? The tank is secure. The Hawks can win all the games they want, because all of these "good teams" are really sorry.
  18. Crazy statline from Boogie: 37 pts - 21 rebs - 10 asst . . and the Pelicans still may lose. Even with Davis going for 34 pts himself.
  19. Tidbit from Steve Holman: Riding home from work, I was listening to the game on Sirius. During one of the breaks in the action, Holman talked about how Josh Smith only attempted 7 or so 3 pointers in the 2009 - 10 season. Not sure how the convo came up. Turns out, the ONLY REASON why he didn't shoot 3s that year, was because he made a bet with someone ( not sure if it was a teammate or family member ) that he wouldn't take more than 10 threes that season. Holman found it amusing that it was a bet that caused Smith not to shoot 3s, and not him trying to play to his strengths.
  20. If the Raptors are already in ATL, that's a BAD SIGN for the Raptors. - Magic City Mondays - Buckhead Flu Tuesdays Hawks by 5 on Wednesday.
  21. LOL @ how the bench went crazy over Dorsey's dunk. Good game Hawks. Still in 2nd place.
  22. Gotta hope some deals get done by the deadline. This win was unavoidable considering how bad the Jazz have shot the ball, but this squad is gaining too much momentum right now. I imagine we'll make a deal when Cleveland decides how important that Brooklyn pick is to them. I surely hope no one is dealt that could actually be useful next season. Dedmon should be off limits, if he doesn't opt out. Dennis definitely shouldn't be dealt, unless you can get a lottery pick ( and replace him with Collin Sexton ). And Prince is still a work in progress. The "injury bug" will hit the Hawks soon enough. No need to panic.
  23. I truly believe that they're winning for the home crowd, which is a good thing. They'll be horrible on the road. And eventually, Dennis will get a "mysterious" injury in March, and will be shut down for the year. And if anyone else acts like they wanna ball, they'll be shut down too.
  24. LOL . . I turn away for 5 minutes, and the Hawks are up 23? WTF? Haha . . and Delaney is +26?
