How about this. Trade Millsap to Miami in a sign and trade for Wade? Cut Scott to make more room. Dennis - Wade - Baze - Horford - Dwight -

Definitely didn't want Dwight here, but time to make the best of it. Resign Horford and go BIG on everybody. -

THE NBA FREE AGENCY THREAD

The future is predicated on bringing in talent to this team. Going young has proven to not be a good path, unless one of those young players is a potential superstar in the making. If you want to be bad and bottom out to get a player, OK. Just understand that we will be in the same position as Sacramento or Phoenix, if that star isn't obtained. It took Minnesota a legit 9 years in order to get a potentially franchise changing player in Towns. All of those draft picks they've had over the years, and they haven't even cracked 41 wins the past 10 years. -

Who cares, honestly. Wade played at an All-Star level last season. I'd rather overpay for a Hall of Famer who has won championships and could occasionally come up huge during the playoffs, than overpaying for young mediocre talent. Watch what Baze gets. In fact, watch what Marvin gets. Wade is still better than both guys, and probably will be 2 yrs from now. Plus Wade's name and presence sells tickets. -

Package deal. Wade increases the visibility of the franchise on the court. He's the one that basketball fans will come out to see, and becomes the face of the franchise. Gabby increases the visibility of the franchise on and off the court. Imagine Koonin utilizing a "black" Hollywood A-lister like Gabrielle to help sell the Hawks to casual fans. He could use her in commercials and in-game promos and activities. -

Very nice deal for Jefferson. Look for Joe Johnson to get a similar deal, if not more. -

Yes. If we get the Wade that balled out in the playoffs ... definitely. -

Bud .... go get Dwyane Wade. Pay the man. Sell his name to the city to pump some excitement into the franchise. His wife tapes her TV show ( Being Mary Jane ) in Atlanta. It'll be nice to see Gabby at courtside, photobombing Wade and others. If we're not competing for championships, at least make Philips Arena more of an attraction for celebrities. 4 yrs at the MAX, with opt out after year 2. -

Current NBA TV contract is 9 years at 24 BILLION dollars. Thank Lebron James for that. Every player in the league should give him 1% of every contract they sign in the next 2 years. When Demarr Derozan is currently the highest player in the league at 29 million a year, despite arguably not even being the best player on his own team, thank Lebron for that. And with Barnes and Baze about to get a Joe Johnson level contract, they should probably give Lebron a 10% cut. At any rate, the NBA has become like international soccer. Except in soccer, the superstars make huge dollars. In the NBA, even marginal players can and will get paid. -
Said it since last season. Honestly, this has been a problem since Dikembe left. The only time we were a good rebounding team, was 2010, when part of Woody's ISO offense was sending the big guys ( Horford, Smith, Zaza ) to crash the offensive boards. Bud's offensive philosophy is to sacrifice offensive rebounding to prevent fast break points. Which analytically, is a decent strategy. Problem is, when you go ice cold shooting, you don't get extra possessions. But as you said, when you get killed on the defensive boards, you give the opponent extra possessions that could kill you. And it happened way too much to the Hawks. Our 2 draft pick wings possess the ability to rebound the basketball. If they are solid offensively, they will immediately help in this area of weakness.

Al wants to see team improve the roster before committin

Al is my boy, but no truer words have been spoken. Like Uncle Ben told Clark Kent .. "With MAX contract comes MAX responsibility." -
Yes you do ... in an NBA player's eyes. Durant can't see nor hear your "ranbidness" from home or at a sports bar. When Sacramento, a franchise that hasn't done anything since the early 2000s, outdraws us last year, ( despite coming off of our 1st Eastern Conference Finals appearance since the team has been in Atlanta ), that's all you need to know about Atlanta fan support. Might have to start offering lap dances in the RED lounge, to get more support.

Look at attendance? LOL. They actually play in the arena. Durant coming from the craziness in OKC to the docile but sometimes live environment in Philips, would be like going to a UGA football game compared to a Georgia State game. The people who get mad when ATL fans get blasted, obviously have not gone to other places to watch NBA basketball. Having said that, what Durant should realize is that Atlanta fans have always cheered for superstar players or guys who can entertain the crowd. Very few "pure" basketball fans in that city, and even less die hard Hawks fans. It is what it simply is.

As for Moose, I'd much see Edy at this point. Like JayBird said in another thread, he played poorly las year in Summer League, and had no impact this year.
