  1. Maybe because his name should never be said around these parts again :)
  2. Unless they can play alongside each other as starters, there's no way you can max both guys. And playing them together has been an absolute disaster this season. Bud hasn't done it in a long while. We essentially need Jeff and Dennis to become a poor man's version of Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars, if we want to keep both of them. At the very least, they have to be what Goran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe were in Phoenix. Or what Isaiah Thomas and Avery Bradley are in Boston. Dennis and Teague will be in HIGH demand starting this summer. Dennis is not going to be content with playing 20 min/gm for too much longer. He's going to want a much larger role. So the only way this happens, is if either he or Teague is able to guard taller and stronger 2s .. or if Bud is able to "hide" one of them on defense, like how Woody used to do Bibby. If this is the plan, Teague may need to add 10 lbs As for Teague not wanting to be moved, he pretty much said just that in his post game interview last night. He basically said that he loved Atlanta and playing for the Hawks. And loved his teammates and coaches. It was almost like he was campaigning to stay here. With Dennis playing at a high level these days, it may have motivated Teague to step his game up.
  3. If you want to talk about "turning points", that 3rd quarter comeback against the Warriors seem to have awaken this team out of their funk. From that point on, they've been playing tremendous defensive basketball, and the offense has improved as well.
  4. What a difference a week and some change makes. Hawks lose first 3 games, then win 5 out of the next 6 ( should've been a 6 game win streak ), to go 5 - 4 so far in this stretch. Now we go up against a squad in Toronto who might just be our 2nd round opponent, and a team that has given the Hawks major trouble the past 2 years. A victory in the Land of the North could really give this team added confidence going into this next 6 of 8 homestand. And we get to see how good our defense has really become, if we can slow down Lowry and Derozan, who have become the best backcourt in the NBA. It's important that the Hawks keep winning so that can stay within striking distance of Miami. Unfortunately for us, they haven't lost since acquiring Joe Johnson and their schedule is fairly easy the rest of the way. And with Charlotte playing 6 of their next 7 at home, we can't afford any slip ups. Finishing 6 - 4 in these 10 games, after starting 0 - 3, will feel like they've gone 8 - 2. But I'll take winning 6 of our last 7, if we beat the Raptors. That would be big time.
  5. Not without an ankle or pulled muscle injury to Lebron James.
  6. He'll get a max deal from more than Philly. Teague will too, by the way.
  7. Only way that happens is if Teague turns into Joe Dumars on defense. Because the only way we can keep both, is if both players can play alongside each other for long stretches of the game.
  8. Game is showing here. Thank you SportSouth.
  9. SportSouth bet not show a replay of Seton Hall vs Depaul, here in Middle TN. The Grizzlies aren't playing tonight, so show the f*cking Hawks!
  10. Carmelo has been a lethal shooter when all he has to concentrate on, is shooting the basketball. His stints with Team USA basically featured Anthony as the knockdown shooter, when he was in the game. I hate the way people have villified isolation basketball. If a player is good at it, there's nothing wrong with it at all. Melo is maybe one of the 5 most complete offensive basketball players in the game, considering that there is just about anything he can't do from the 3 position offensively, except play point forward. And even then, he has good enough court vision to find open men. He would thrive in Bud's system, plus function as a much needed closer down the stretch of games.
  11. That guy has ALWAYS been Carmelo Anthony. But fans believe all of that bad stuff about his game, without recognizing the good things he brings to a team. Notice that whenever Melo has had good teammates around him, that guy has always balled out. He's not going to make guys around him better, but he can be the engine that drives your team and takes big shots. Pair him with a playmaker who can make others better, while Melo simply worries about scoring, and that team will be a high level NBA team. PG - Schröder G - Bazemore F - Melo PF - Humphries C - Horford Is that lineup better than the starting 5 we're going with now? Why or why not?
  12. This is the old Tantra Restaurant, I believe. Very nice and beautiful spot on the inside. Went there for dinner about 3 - 4 yrs ago. Interested to see if Dennis keeps it more restaurant, or tries to go with more of the "ultralounge" vibe.
  13. Extend his minutes when he's good. Cut it when he's bad. Easy. His defense has been better than his offense, to me.
  14. Perfect description. He'll definitely help in the frontcourt.
  15. It's like the 12 stages of depression, being a Hawks fan.
  16. They'll go small, and play JJ at PF. Because Whiteside is such a dominant rebounder and rim protector, they can get away with playing small ball.
  17. The casino in Baltimore ( Caesar's Horseshoe ) did well in its first 12 months - 23 million in revenue ( projected 30 million ) - paid 6.3 million in taxes - created 1,100 jobs And this is despite 3 other casinos in Maryland ... and the Baltimore Uprising (riots) temporarily scaring people away for a few weeks. A casino ( which will end up being multiple casinos ) will be a home run in Atlanta. It's not like they're talking about putting casinos in Savannah, GA. Savannah would be the equivalent of Atlantic City.
  18. The differences are that ... 1) Atlanta is already an event city and a tourist destination. 2) It's in the population center, not 60 - 100 miles away from the population center, like Atlantic City is. 3) Hartsfield-Jackson Intl. Airport is the busiest in the world, with over 100 million passengers passing through. 4) Next to LA and New York, there are more rich and famous people living in, and going through Atlanta, than anywhere
  19. Rod Strickland and Kenny Anderson are the 2 guys on that list that are most comparable to Dennis. He has that swag to his game like Kenny had.
  20. And there it is ... Wolves, Kevin Martin finalizing buyout https://shar.es/1CpbOB via @hoopshype
  21. That's why I started this thread. The 10 games coming out of the All Star break were brutal. But the games following this stretch isn't a cakewalk either. Almost every team we play the rest of the way, are battling for playoff position or trying to get into the playoffs.
  22. Yep. People forget that Millsap does quite a bit of Isolation in this offense. If the shot clock is under 10 seconds, and JJ gets the pass, I have no problem with him looking to create a shot.
  23. I'm talking about the people who booed him everytime he touched the ball. I didn't expect people to cheer for him everytime he came back to Atlanta. And definitely not cheer for him everytime he made plays. But he received worst treatment than any of the players we supposedly hate ( Paul Pierce, Lebron James, etc ) And the Hawks "student section" was a big culprit in that. They thought it was cute, and so did other fans. Now when we actually need help, people are like, "Come back Joe. We didn't mean it. Help us." And he just got waived ... let's see what happens now.
