  1. Good trade, depending on what we gave up. Hawks now have the ability to keep a legit center on the floor at all times.
  2. That means you have no confidence in your boy Al Horford. With no Millsap here, he or Teague become the offensive alpha dog. You say he's a more efficient version of Karl Malone. Well with a legit center beside him, he now gets a golden chance to prove that, if Millsap isn't here.
  3. Wow @ 15 mill a year for DeMarre. God Bless You man. Turned that playoff run into a PowerBall jackpot.
  4. The crazy thing about all of this is that people were going gaga over Kent Bazemore and the offensive potential he supposedly showed as a Laker. But a guy like Hardaway Jr can't get the benefit of the doubt, after seeing him in the league for 2 years? People have to simply trust that Bud can get that kid ... and he's still a kid in basketball years ... to play to the best of his ability.
  5. Way to compare the TS% of 2 players who play nothing alike. Now I'm not for bringing Monta in, because we already have 2 decent small guards in Teague and Schröder. But let's not get silly.
  6. Just showed the jerseys off to one of my workers. Young cat, probably in his mid to late 20s. He really likes the jerseys, and said that he might have to go out and get one. And he is not a Hawks fan at all. So the jerseys with the younger generation may be a hit. Old heads and traditionalists will probably hate them. Now HERE'S the 1 million dollar question now. How will the COURT look? I'm assuming the new official logo will be our new center court logo. But will the edge of the court be in black, with red lettering, trimmed in volt?
  7. Kind of close to what we did with our work unis. I'm not a fan of the number being in volt, and the name being in a regular color. Either go with one or the other. I would've kept it like we did it, and just use the volt color as a highlighter, and not a primary color. http://hawksquawk.net/community/gallery/image/1015-red/ I would really dig the white uniforms, had the number been red. But I can't get into it with the name in red, and the number in volt. The red jerseys are a hit, with that ATL funky font. I love that. The black jerseys are solid. Overall, I give the jerseys a 7 out of 10. The kids will love it though. I'm seeing that volt color everywhere, even in my workplace
  8. Reversible mesh jerseys. http://hawksquawk.net/community/gallery/image/1016-black/ http://hawksquawk.net/community/gallery/image/1015-red/ We used the lime green ( volt ) as an outliner. Looks like the Hawks may use it as a primary color with lettering and numbers.
  9. I'm going to try to upload pics of our work basketball jerseys from last year. One of the guys on our team wanted a black, red, and lime green color scheme.
  10. Jamal had a more important shot that people forget about. Game 3 vs Orlando ... Hawks up by 1 ... Jamal get the ball up top and has to shoot before the shot clock runs down. God KNOWS that I'm not a fan of this dude and his horrible shot selection, but I was at this game and if it wasn't the biggest shot in franchise history, it was one of the more dramatic shots in Hawks playoff history. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opiM8cXZN8s I specifically remember how the crowd felt as we left our seats and headed for the exits. There was glee everywhere. People were high fiving strangers. After what Orlando did to us a season earlier, winning that game was a huge moment for that team.
  11. I think it has to be. Without that shot, we go to Washington down 3 - 2, and are in great jeopardy to lose that series. The Horford put back gave us cushion going into Game 6, and relaxed that team a little. Although you could make a HUGE CASE for DeMarre's layup to put us up 4 in Game 6. His 2 layups in the final minute of that game were arguably the 2 most important offensive sequences in franchise history. We needed execution on BOTH of those possessions, and Jeff and DeMarre delivered.
  12. So if Ferry did nothing wrong, why didn't he fight harder for his job? Remember folks, this was a self imposed exile, not a suspension by the team or the league. If you're so innocent, why not fight? I'll tell you why. Because he lacks humility, a trait that A-Holes do not posses. The humility to come out in public, say he was wrong, and get the entire franchise over all of this as quickly as possible. Instead of facing the music and defending himself, or letting everyone see that he was truly sorry, he goes into hiding. A-Holes do not like to be publicly humiliated or admit in front of the world that they were wrong. And despite the law firm not finding anything on record inappropriate, he may have had conversations with others within the organization that could be seen as inappropriate. And those people may not have told on Ferry, to save their own butts. Most of all, Ferry thinks he's the smartest in the room. So if a reporter would've asked him ..."What made you read that report about Deng to your owners, and why didn't you just say that Deng is viewed as being deceptive" .. it would've forced the "smart guy" to admit on air that he did something incredibly unprofessional and stupid. He didn't fight for his job, and no one in that organization truly fought to bring him back. There has to be a reason for that. People are usually judged by their job performance AND by the content of their character. If flaws come about in any if these areas, the people who employ you may lose confidence in your overall abilities. And if these people simply don't like you and your personna, that may spell major trouble.
  13. As one general manager said last March, an aphorism that was repeated almost verbatim by another GM two weeks later, "Danny isn't in exile because he's a racist. Danny's in exile because he's an asshole." This sentiment conforms to the general perception, even by many in the game who think highly of his abilities, that Ferry has far too much self-regard relative to personal accomplishment. ******* Tried to tell all of you Ferry lovers this back last October.
  14. If that black uniform is legit ... Oh My God The kids will eat that up. And I'll have to get one too. Would love to see that ATL font on the white jerseys too.
  15. For all of you A-Holes out there, always remember this: When something goes down that you're involved in, don't expect the people that you dogged, to have your back. You'll end up like Victor Sweets in the movie Four Brothers ... thrown under the ice in Lake Michigan. Just wish that dude would've apologized to the fans and did a rafio or TV interview, instead of hiding like a coward. Maybe when he interviews for his next NBA job, he'll address what all went on. Anyway ... Congrats to Bud and Wes. Now, go get us some solid players and bring a Championship to the ATL.
  16. They wouldn't be wasting money if they simply chose the best player available. We've had 4 picks in the top 18 in the past 3 years, and only 1 of them became a rotation player. Drafting track record must become better if the team wants to stay at or under the cap, and still be a high level team.
  17. The only 3 players that have played in 8 consecutive playoff series in the Eastern Conference, are Lebron James, Paul Pierce .... and Joe Johnson. Can't count those guys out.
  18. Considering that we may lose both Millsap and Carroll, 20 - 1 odds is pretty good. That's 3rd amongst the East teams. We were a very mediocre team from early March until the end of the playoffs. Blame that on whatever you want, but we were average. Hawks had a great season, but a very disappointing end to the playoffs. If anything, people should ask why the Bulls are at 12 - 1. Then again, they did play the Cavs tougher than we did in the playoffs.
  19. Good call. But disappointing for me, because 2 years ago, I was the one advocating for that Jefferson - Iguodala to Atlanta scenario. Not that Iggy would've been itching to come to ATL, but I at least wanted to go after him and Jefferson, instead of chasing after Dwight Howard. Golden State had enough sense to drop themselves out of that chase, and scooped up Iggy instead. 2 years later, they're NBA champions. Had Steve Kerr kept bringing him off the bench though, the Cavs may have pulled it out. His defense on Lebron wore him down. And the boost offensively that he gave the Warriors ( with Klay Thompson virtually invisible ), got him that Finals MVP award.
  20. The ATL font is going to be a huge hit with the kids. I definitely want to see the new unis now.
  21. Aww man. I wish that Bud would forget about having an outside shooting threat at the 5. Either get a guy who can score around the rim, or get a guy who can be a defensive and rebounding anchor. With the amount of shots he'd get, a 3 point shooting center MIGHT make 2 threes a game. More than likely though, he'd only be good for 1 three a game. My thing is this, on a team that wants the 4 position to be able to make 18+ foot jumpers, wouldn't it be more useful to have a center that could get us extra possessions by grabbing offensive rebounds? From hoopsstats.com: Pero tied for the league in 3 point attempts for centers, with 2.7 attempts per game. He shot 31% He only made 0.8 of his 3s. Kelly Olynyk also took 2.7 threes per game. He made 35% of his attempts, averaging 1.0 made three per game. Your boy Spencer Hawes was 3rd in attempts at 2.4 per game, while shooting just above 31%. Unless you got a guy who can shoot close to or over 40% from 3, encouraging your center to stretch the floor is overrated as hell. But if you REALLY want a stretch 5, just hope that Bud encourages Horford to take more corner 3s. He shot 30% from 3 this season. Maybe with practice, he could become at least a 35% shooter.
  22. No way Antić should be brought back to this team. I voted 2 - 5 million, only because I had no lower option to vote.
