  1. The fact that we're only down 8 is amazing. Just goes to show that defense is the true strength of this team.
  2. Team looks like they're not ready to play AT ALL. Almost like they stayed out till 4 am.
  3. Lol ... bout time he start using that pump fake to attack the rim. Good job Pero.
  4. JJ playing with a lot of energy today. Bud may have to go to the bench early.
  5. I'll sign when the "exiled one" stands at center court at Philips Arena and publicly apologizes to the fan base, to dismissing the importance of Dominique to this franchise, and to being insensitive toward anyone else affiliated with this organization. When the going got tough, he ran and hid, instead of facing the music. So I'll sign when he has a full "come to Jesus" moment.
  6. Blame Ferry and Levenson. I guess Reed feels that he needs to be one of the spokespeople for the success of the deal, despite not being directly involved in the process. I guess he speaks for the people of Atlanta, who were very interested in who would take control of the team. Reed's approval somewhat represents the feelings of the city's.
  7. Twitter is also a great source for instant and breaking news. And once again, the membership here will cite a relevant tweet about the Hawks even before C-Viv, Peachtree, or even Hoopshype cites it.
  8. All of them are good. They just approach the news differently. - Peachtreehoops puts out a lot of information and will routinely cite different national sources. Their writers are pretty good, especially with their post game reporting. - AJC gives you basic Hawks information, but will occasionally give you inside information about the team. C-Viv has taken a lot of heat for his reporting of this team the past few years, but he has improved tremendously. - Hoopshype.com will tap into whatever the AJC talks about, but will also be the source that breaks a story from another entity that may be outside of Atlanta. Easily my main source for overall NBA news. What makes Hawksquawk such a good source for Hawks news, is that not only do they link info from these above sources, members themselves will post news stories that haven't even hit locally or nationally yet. And we have a great group of hardcore members who can expand on topics and give insightful opinions on it. it's a reason why when a big story breaks, traffic on this site in particular goes through the roof.
  9. Not during the playoffs. Their crowd is quite good during playoff time.
  10. I hate that I called this back in January. http://hawksquawk.net/community/topic/402405-nyt-article-on-hawks-ownership-who-the-f-is-tommy-dortch/?hl=gearon#entry742085 I'm predicting that Gearon and Seydel will be bought out at around 200 million, only to buy right back in, when the new ownership group puts about 15% - 20% up for sale. Edited by TheNorthCydeRises, 06 January 2015 - 02:34 PM. Question now is ... what % is his stake? If it is as high as 15 - 20% .... yikes.
  11. Do you realize that he played for 2 more years for the Hawks, after he made that comment? All JJ did here was be a true professional on and off the court while in Atlanta. I hope this year's squad far exceeds anything that has ever been done in the playoffs, since the Hawks have been in Atlanta. But I guess the fans forget that the Hawks beat Orlando the following postseason, and pushed a heavily favored Chicago team to 6 games. While I think the booing is silly, I'm not going to get all up in arms about the booing. He's not a Hawk anymore, and he stands in the way of us winning a title. But if they want to boo, let's start a tradition of booing EVERY opposing teams best player. Hawks fans booing JJ like he's a villian, would be like Braves fans booing Tim Hudson.
  12. If Levien is involved, say bye bye to Ferry. He'll position himself to be a minority owner, but also the CEO of the Hawks ... or head of basketball operations. This is what he did in Memphis.
  13. I was thinking 4th grade, but I agree completely. No way they held some focus group among Clipper fans, and came up with that logo. That's worse than the generic Nets logo, with the B in the basketball.
  14. That dude can ball though, and maybe the biggest reason why the Celtics played so we'll in the 2nd half of the year and made the playoffs.
  15. Magic Josh-son. His lobs to Howard could become the most devastating offensive play in the NBA. I'm looking forward to how Carlisle coaches his team to defend that when Josh has the ball.
  16. But even the contract didn't prevent us from being successful or going far in the playoffs. So you're still hating a contract 5 years later, even when the guy isn't playing with us?
  17. A well deserved honor for Bud. His offensive system is impressive, but I'm more impressed with the defensive principles he's implemented here, which have elevated the team to an elite level. So that's ... - 4 All-Stars - a franchise record 60 wins - a division title - a #1 East seed - and now the Coach of the Year Keep this special season going Hawks.
  18. I agree. Which makes the booing so curious. That comment was made 5 years ago. And JJ played in Atlanta for 2 more years after he made that comment. And JJ never asked to be traded. He got pushed out by the new regime.
