Trae is a different type of problem. Trae is franchise player problem. When your stars aren't on the same page the franchise player is usually the one they accommodate to. Trae is slick balling like this on purpose because the season is early and he wants to rock with the team we're going to keep so I think he's waiting on the trade before he balls out like the Trae of normal. I like John but his ego has always been on stats and money as well as being recognized as a star himself which he is. He just can't get out of Trae's orbit and I think that's what he ultimately wants looking at the body language and interactions between those two. There very professional so you may not even be able to tell if you don't peep it right but if their chemistry is a little off. Not not play together off but not stat together off.

I tend to agree with your assessment but disagree strongly with Trae. I just don't think it serves anyone well to play these kind of diva games. In a short season if they find themselves battling for the 8, 9, 10 seed he's going to be pretty foolish for screwing around early on.

This is a dumb take because Trae sucked before JC said this.  It's why he said it.  And then Trae looked great in the Sixers game right after.   It makes a nice tweet but doesn't make any sense.

Wut? He was avg 28.5 pts on 18 att and 9.1 ast when they had their meeting. Sure, his 3pt shot has sucked all year but he really he didn't fall off a cliff until after that meeting. He's avg 13 ots on 14 shots and 7.0 ast since that mtg.

I'd say KP is dead on.

If Trae is shooting bricks, hes just  a liability..

Honestly if he's anything less than going nuclear the team is going to struggle to beat good teams. Somehow he's got better players around him this year so it should be easier for him. But instead he sucks.

We are going to trade JC.

    Look at my evidence:

    1.  The website.

Trae, Huerter, Cam, and Bogi is plastered all over the website.  We're is JC?  Even Clint Cappela has a highlight on the page.

    2.  The argument with Trae...i.e. Coaching.

You don't pull on superman's cape and you don't argue with a star player when they are slumping.   Lloyd Pierce may be out of the door tonight... however, this kind of talking to the press about words said inside because you want to get yourself in a better position for your next contract is treasonous.  JC talking to the Athletic in any capacity about what happened with he and trae is a no-no.

    3.  Drug Suspension last year.     Ehhh.

    4.  Nothing around the offense revolves around you... except the finish on the PNR.

    5.  The contract denial.   I think that the Hawks gave JC what they thought was fair value.  JC turned them down.  Where do you go from here?

If I had my druthers, he would have been in a package for Zach Lavine.  Well, that will never happen now.  That guy is balling!  My guess is that there is a WC landing spot for him that will yield us back something that we need.

It could be a trade for Mikal Bridges and a first straight up.    Phoenix has Cameron Johnson who looks like he can fill in and JC is an upgrade from Jae Crowder... so this could be their shot for championship for them.  CP3 ain't getting no younger.   To be able to boast Booker, Drayton, Johnson, and Collins  as a young core...... dayum.

The point is.. I wouldn't get so attached to him because it doesn't seem like the organization is attached to him.

Don't see how they can trade JC with Gallo's age and injury concern. Do we really want Hunter playing predominantly PF?  I like the idea of trading for Zach Lavine, especially with Bogie out for a while, but I think it leaves a void at the 4.

Here is some interesting stuff i got from a tweet.   It was a little scattered through comments so not pasting in the tweet.

    Trae-JC-Capela on/off combos

    All 3 on: +38 (176 possessions)
    Trae-JC on, Capela off: +37 (257 poss)
    Trae on, JC-Capela off: +20 (89 poss)
    Capela on, Trae-JC off: +9 (66 poss)
    JC on, Trae-Capela off: -17 (95 poss)

    Trae-Capela on, JC off: -42 (123 poss)

Here's some more I pulled off of BBREF.  Not lineup based, but still pretty telling.

I'm not sure I understand Trae's opponent's on / off. If I'm reading it right, the opponents offense is 5.4 pts / 100 poss WORSE when Trae is on the floor which seems unlikely.  But that's what the data said.

You're master of the strawman rebuttal. I didn't say Lamelo is better, or will be better. I know Trae has had amazing games. But the over dribbling, the inefficiency, the turnovers and unwillingness to be active away from the ball are problems that aren't going away. His upside to be a great point guard is still there, let's hope it's just a slump.

I agree with some of the flaws you point out in Trae's game. He most certainly has room to improve and hopefully he will continue to do so.  I actually think his defense - a MAJOR talking point by everyone last year - has shown to be a bit better at times this year, which only points to the work he puts in to improve.  I also think he's taken far less crazy 3's than we've seen in the past, something he's stated in interviews he wants to correct. So shot selection and defense have both been better at times.  The real problem, imo, was when his good shots weren't falling in the last few games, he resorted back to bad habits.  I think it just shows it's going to take some time.
