But our defense on all possessions is way worse than league average.  I'm a lot more worried if our team is giving up 108 when others shoot 3's but 127 per when Trae shoots 3's than if we are giving up 124 when others shoot 3's and 127 when Trae does.

Just saw this. That original stat came from Second Spectrum and, unless I'm mistaken, you have to have a sub to see that data. I've been scrounging around the interwebs but so far haven't found any similar data so can't calculate the rest of the team numbers. Would be easy to calculate if we just knew the total team data.

What are opponents scoring when other players miss 3's?  Missed 3's are generally very good counterattacking opportunities so you'd expect them to be notably above the normal possession or especially any possession starting from an inbounds or dead ball.

League avg in that scenario is 112.

My point is Trae is permitted to have an off night every once in a while if Cam’s has about 30.

I want Trae at 22 and 14 that’s ideal for me moving forward next season. He’s young though Supes you gotta cut him some slack and not compare him to Marbury every time he has an off night that’s not right.

The problem I have with Trae last night is that his "off night" wasn't just about missing shots. Everyone dies that from time to time. No issue with that. No. The real problem was the WAY Trae was playing. It was his decisions. We could see it from his pregame comments about facing off vs Ja. He was looking for a big night vs the rook and he failed to get anyone else involved. He forced shots, turned it over, and generally failed to actually run the offense.

You wont find a bigger Trae fan than me but last night was unacceptable.  And unfortunately it was also entirely predictable.

If we can go on a massive win streak, 35-36 wins is possible.

I like the optimism but I'm not seeing it. To get to 35 wins means going 16-4 which just seems not-doable.  Besides, as bad as BKN is playing, I still think they get 35 at minimum.

Agreed. 5th in the lottery. I can easily see us being the best non playoff team in the East by the end of the season. We need a lot of luck though to make the playoffs

Yep. Currently, Wash is 9th in the east with a 22-37 record. The Hawks are 3 games back in the win column and 6 back in the loss column. In their remaining 23 games, Wash plays:

    • Mil x 2
    • LAL x 1
    • Tor x 1
    • Mia x 1
    • Ind x 2
    • Phil x 2
    • Hou x 1
    • Bos x 2
    • OKC x 1
    • Atl x 2

All of the above are playoff teams. And not the sub-.500 playoff teams either.  Conversely, they only play the Hornets once and don't play the Bulls or Pistons. Those are the only 3 teams between the Hawks and Wiz at the moment.

Charlotte is 21-39; 2 games up in the W column and 4 games up in the L column. Of their remaining 22 games:

    • Mia x 3
    • Phi x 2
    • LAL x 1
    • Den x 1
    • Hou x 1
    • LAC x 1
    • Tor x 1
    • OKC x 1
    • Atl x 3

Hawks could erase that deficit by just beating the Hornets 3 times and playing their non-playoff teams better than Cha plays the playoff teams. Hornets do not play the Bulls or Pistons

Chicago is 20-40; 1 game up in the W column and 3 games up in the L column. They play:

    • Mia x 2
    • Dal x 1
    • Ind x 1
    • Bos x 2
    • Hou x 1
    • Den x 2
    • Phi x 1
    • Utah x 1
    • LAL x 1
    • LAC x 1

So 13 of their remaining 22 games are against legit playoff teams. They also do not play the Pistons, Wash, or Cha

Pistons are 20-42, 1 game up in W and L column. Over their remaining 20 games, they play:

    • OKC x 1
    • Utah x 1
    • Phi x 1
    • Tor x 1
    • LAL x 1
    • Mil x 1
    • LAC x 1
    • Hou x 1
    • Mia x 2
    • Dal x 1
    • Bos x 1
    • Atl x 1

So that's 12 out of 20 games against playoff teams. Hawks just need to make up 1 game.

Bottom line, imo, the above teams are going to struggle to get more than 31 wins against these schedules. For reference, Hawks are 19-43 with 20 games remaining. Their remaining schedule vs winning teams:

    • OKC x 1
    • Phi x 1
    • Utah x 1
    • Tor x 1
    • Mil x 1

These are the only winning teams they play. All 15 others have sub-.500 records at this point.  IF the Hawks could figure out some way to win 10 or 11 vs the losing teams, they could very well finish 9th in the East. At this point, I'm thinking 32 wins might be the Hawks Ceiling from here.

How about this . . . Will Cain says Trae ranks #5 among NBA players 21 and under.  Here is his list

    1) Luka

    2) Jayson Tatum

    3) Zion

    4) Ja Morant

    5) Trae

His reason for Trae being #5?

"He's good. But his numbers don't translate into winning."

    This is a player averaging 30 ppg - 9 asst - 4 rebs - 44% FG and 37% 3FG  . . ranked FIFTH.

People are dumb. Trae played with a G league roster most of the year. LBJ in his prime would not win with the team that Trae played with early on.

Just finished cooking dinner and cleaning it up...What in the world happened in the first quarter!!!????

41 points? Were they shooting lights out? Did we even think about playing defense?

We certainly aren't out assuming we can do the opposite of the first quarter😂

First several min of 3rd will tell the story. Make a run or its lights out. They've actually played decent defense in the 2nd the last few games
