  1. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see him in Atlanta. I just don't think he is a max salary guy.
  2. Why all the love for Tony Parker? He is a good young point guard but he is neither a great shooter nor great pure point guard. He is a good player and all but is really any better then a guy like Mike Bibby, Steve Nash or even Kurt Heinrich? I rather sign a vet like Damon Jones and then hope to be in position to draft Chris Paul or Jarrett Jack next summer.
  3. I was just going to ask the same thing.
  4. Hearing words like that from the GM really makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Maybe Hotlanta is really Billy Knight!
  5. Anything interesting said at the press conference?
  6. I say no, he is not an option because he is likely to be signed and traded to the Knicks. Plus, from what I have seen and heard, he is not a real point guard anyway. He is a shooting guard. He is talented, but he is by no means a great player at this point.
  7. Sadly (for the NBA), this is true. I am from the northeast and became a Hawks fan originially because of Dominique, Doc and Spud. After they left, I questioned why I remain a fan, but for some reason I still do. I am partial to the Knicks because they are my local team, but even during the peek Patrick Ewing days the Hawks still remained number one. The only Hawks games I have seen in person were at MSG, the Hartford Civic Center and Boston Garden. Unfortunately there is very little loyalty in sports anymore, let alone in life.
  8. That trade I would do. Chicago, however, categorically would not do that trade.
  9. Stop pretending is right. No way Philly trades Dalembert for any player on the Hawks roster.
  10. Seems like alot of view and post today, probably the most I have ever seen. So to the admins, is today a record? Just wondering.
  11. You definitely have done better recently but you fell off the wagon today. You have stated in the pst that you didn't like JT as a player so why be upset when the Hawks get rid of him? If JT is as bad as you make him out to be then we should feel lucky that the Hawks got an expiring contract in return. Addition by subtraction? I don't know why you get all worked up about Childress playing poorly during the summer league while at the same time saying Josh Smith's solid summer effort means nothing. Point is we do not yet know how either player will turn out.
  12. Man, if you were dating Halie Berry you probably would complain that she needs to lose a few pounds and that you rather be with Britney Spears. We all want the hawks to improve as much as you, but to me, dwelling on the negatives all the time takes some of the fun out of being a fan.
  13. A players worth can only be measured in relation to his fit with the particular team. For example, Rasheed Wallace was not going to lead the blazers to a championship and wasn't even good enough to start at his natural power forward position. However, for the Pistons he was the missing piece to the puzzle that allowed them to win a championship. Denver couldn't wait to get rid of van exel a few years ago yet he was key in helping Dallas to a strong playoff run. Bob Sura was rotting on Detroit's bench but was an effective player for the Hawks down the stretch. Similarly, Darius Miles was useless in Cleveland but effective in Portland. Plenty of other examples if you look. To condemn a player and his potential impact on a team before he ever suits up is, in light of some of the above examples, is kind of short sighted. Sure it is easy to be critical, and such criticism may be warranted here, but a critic's credibility is destroyed when he/she reveals an inability to be constructive.
  14. Hendu has been coming back with a venegence for three or four years now. I highly doubt there anyone will regret trading Henderson - it's not like the Hawks are going to miss his contributions.
  15. Well Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Theo Ratliff and Dan Dickau get you Rasheed Wallace for a game, which in turn gets you Bob Sura and Rebraca for a couple games each plus the 17th pick in the draft and cap space. I don't really see this trade as a win or a loss, rather, it is simply going in a different direction. What this new path yields we don't know, but worst case scenario the Hawk have truck loads of cap space. Best case scenario they have either a near all-star caliber forward for this year and potentially beyond or a great trade deadline asset. Obviously the Hawks roster still has holes, but it had holes before the trade. Signing a solid point guard and getting a center will go along way. If the hawks land Dampier then they could have the best frontcourt in the East.
  16. Very true. Philly is stocked at Power Forward anyway - they already have Kenny Thomas and recently acquired Brian Skinner. Plus, they traded Snow to make room in the backcourt for Willie Green, if they trade Iverson then they have no one to play the other guard position.
  17. I don't think he is strickly trade fodder. If he signs, the only way he gets traded is for a young big man, and those types of players are not readily available.
  18. I am I right in my belief that NBA rules prohibit trading a recently acquired player for a certain amount of time? If so, that would prevent an AI trade involving Walker probably until midseason. Personally, I would not do it. AI is older and the Hawks are building with youth. Once Iverson looses a step he is done. I don't care if he fills the arena he would not bring wins which is more important.

    Need a PG

I would think long and hard about signing Sura to play the point for at least the next year. His injury history is a concern but free agent options are very limited at this point. Maybe another trade is in the works.
  20. Has Billy ever said that Swift is his man? I know he may fit the profile and alot of people here like him, but I doubt that Billy Knight is making trades with the specific intent of landing Stromile Swift next year. If that were the case I hope he would aim a little higher.
  21. Well that would be a shame, I liked Travis and think he has potential to be a solid player.
  22. Walker could be this years Rasheed Wallace - plays tough and in control in his contract year. Hawks trade him midseason to a contender for picks.
  23. This is a headscratcher for sure. We are potentially looking at a very inexperienced backcourt. Maybe more trades are to come.
  24. Well if they trade JT then there are not alot of options out there. Damon Jones would almost be a best case scenario.
  25. I'd love to get Devin Harris. Doubtful that Dallas gives him up though. Isn't there some sort of restriction on trading signed first round picks? I'll believe this trade when I see it in a credible source. If it does go down it really creates a void at the point. Is Damon Jones still available? Maybe the Hawks could make a play for a young point guard like Mo Williams, Frank Williams, or the like.
