  1. Wow. Then the Hornets got totally hosed or Simmons is trash.
  2. They must really think Simmons won't develop. That said, with the way West and Chandler have played Simmons never would have been more then a back-up there anyway. I am guessing the trade means Jackson is on the outs or they can't rely on him being healthy.
  3. Smoove needs help on his post moves AND his ouside shooting! I don't see how anyone could see it as one or the other. Isn't that why he worked with Hakeem AND Calvin Murphy in the off-season? Seems to me he knows he needs to improve in both areas.
  4. Quote: There is no way they trade Tony Allen for Lue/2nd, unless his recovery is just horrible and he won't be his same self. I really like Tony and he played great until he got injured, but there's no way Boston would make that trade IMO. Agreed. It would be huge for them if he were healthy this season.
  5. Quote: Quote: I think it is hard to say where he best fits. He is a classic tweener like Shawn Marion in that he could likely do well at either position. That's not a tweener, if you ask me. That's a forward. A tweener is someone who can't guard any position effectively. Well, shotblocking aside, Smoove's defensive abilities at either forward position are still questionable (although the same is true of all the Hawks players with the possible exception of JJ).

  7. Quote: . . because this could EASILY be Smoove in 2 - 3 years. The exact same situation, complaining about the exact same things. ???? Couldn't this be true for any player in the league? Nice agenda.
  8. I definitely think Horford is a natural/prototype power forward but at the same time I think he will be able to play center. In the end, someone on the Hawks has to do the dirty work on the inside. Hopefully Horford is willing to do this. If not, then the Hawks will need to think about how everyone fits together.
  9. Quote: His ball handling was suspect. He wasn't much of a perimeter shooter and he didn't have enought bounce to play in todays game. Alot of people view Worthy as being a power forward. In todays game Worthy would be a tweener. You're acting like Worthy is Nique or Melo. He was okay but he can be easily compared to other players in today's games. You do lose all credibility with this post. Worthy was as athletic as anyone on the Hawks roster now or then.
  10. Quote: WE SCREWED UP NOT TAKING PAUL OR DERON BUT WE STILL CAME OUT OF THIS SITUATION PRETTY GOOD. THAT'S ALL IM SAYING NO MORE NO LESS AND IT ALL COMES IN SOME WAY AS A RESULT OF US DRAFTING MARVIN WILLIAMS. We still do not know whether this is a good situation or not. So far BK has been wrong on every lottery pick he has made so as much as I like Horford and Law, the fact that BK choose them makes me concerned.
  11. Quote: I was one of the MAIN people that thought it really sucked when we picked Marvin over Paul and Deron and it really did SUCK!!!!!!!!!! HOWEVER, In hindsight I'm so GLAD we picked Marvin Williams because I think we are so much better with Marvin,Law,Shelden,Horford with JJ,Smooth,Chills, instead of a nucleus of Paul/Deron JJ,Al Harrington, Smooth, Chills. Keep in mind that Sheldon, Horford, Law are the guys that we added to our team because of the lack of production we received from Marvin Williams. Marvin has caused this franchise alot of grieve but the talent that we have stock piled because of his shortcomings is amazing. I'm really looking forward to this season!!!!! I think this is our year guys!!!!!!!! Some will argue that the previously mentioned team with Paul or Deron is a playoff team and I would agree. But I'm glad we picked Marvin instead because it allowed us to rid ourselves of Al Harrington. In Al's defense, he is one of the better post players in the game but all of that is lost because of how horrible he is on defense and playing team ball. Lastly, I'm just a BIG fan of ACIE LAW!!!! I think he is a special player that's going to do similar things as Paul and Deron.(If Woodson doesn't screw his Minutes up for AJ and Lue!!!). And even if he is not as productive as Paul or Deron we still got Al Horford out of the deal which more than makes up for it. So Guys Be thankful for Marvin Williams because his lack of play has changed the future of a horrible team from GLOOMY TO BRIGHT!!!!!!!! THANK YOU MARVIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess if thinking like this allows you to sleep at night . . . otherwise it is a very twisted illogical view of things.
  12. Quote: Quote: Salim wasn't even a first round pick, let alone a #2 pick. He was a 2nd rounder which most people consider a crapshoot anyway. Marvin deservingly would take alot more criticism for comments like that, especially since we passed on 2 star PG's to take a project at an unneeded position. When you are drafted THAT high to be a project, you damn well better be in the gym. So the rule is if you are not a first round pick or the #2 pick in the draft or if you are not picked before 2 preferred players, you don't have to work on your game in the summertime! I hope guys like G. Arenas, Ginobili, R. lewis, or Carlos Boozer didn't waste their precious summer time working on their respective basket games. I am going to make this really easy for you. The reason no one cares what Salim does in the off-season is because everyone knows this is his last season with the team and he is a 10 minute per game back-up to the teams best player. In short he is replaceable. Smoove, Shelden, Horford, Chill and Marvin on the otherhand are important for the present and the future because the Hawks desperately need a few of those guys to step-up and become legitimate NBA starters (at the very least). So far, Smoove is the only one (obviously Al hasn't had a chance yet) that has demonstrated he has the ability to start. The punchline is that Smoove is the only one of the bunch that the Hawks did not use a very high lottery pick on.
  13. Quote: plus Harris signed for 8.4 million per. If I'm the Hawks I'm a little leery about giving Josh Smith a piece of paper worth 55-60 million for him to sign. There is no way the Hawks will be able to get Smith for less than what Harris signed for. At least this sets the market.

    question

Quote: Quote: Quote: Yeah but if you take away insignificant pieces that don't get PT or contribute, like Lo Wright, Slava, Ivey's 25, AJ, it's alot more uneven. Do the Bulls get to discount Malik Allen and Adreian Griffin then? Sure, but how about we look at starting lineups and 6th man. Bulls Hinrich: 26 Gordon: 24 Deng: 22 Brown: 37 Wallace: 33 Nocioni: 27 Average age of top 6: 28.16 Hawks Speedy: 29 JJ: 26 Marvin: 21 Smith: 21 Zaza: 23 Chill: 24 Average age of top 6: 24 That's over a 4 year age difference in the top 6, which is pretty significant IMO. Well, this year they will have Tyrus Thomas replacing Brown. Think they will miss the playoffs?

    question

Quote: Quote: Quote: Quote: One could easily argue they have under-achieved under Woody. You won't hear anyone argue they have over-achieved. Your right, most homer fans on this board would never admit that. However, there are some rational minds on here. To better disply the point.....Has the youngest team in the NBA ever made the playoffs in the history of the NBA. If they did was there average age remotely close to the average age of these Hawks ?the last 3 years ? For what it is worth, the average age of the Chicago Bulls last year was less then a year older then the Hawks. Chicago was one of the youngest teams in the league. Yeah but if you take away insignificant pieces that don't get PT or contribute, like Lo Wright, Slava, Ivey's 25, AJ, it's alot more uneven. 17. When I clerked the weslaw/lexis folks would call to get copies of the decisions.
  18. The decision should be up on westlaw or lexis.
  19. Quote: Quote: Chillz is twice the defensive player that Marvin is. Marvin cannot even guard one poistion effectively, the SF spot. Chillz can guard SG better then average and can guard SF very well, much better then Marvin does. LOL Chills defense was his big weakness his first two seasons. He seemed to do better last year but the bottom line is that he is too slow to effectively guard 2s and too light to effectively guard 3s. The interesting thing is, it really seems that BK's vision of drafting a bunch of interchangeable athletes has come true. Only problem is that each of these guys is a tweener of some sort (Childress is a 2/3 tweener and Marvin and Smoove are 3/4 tweeners). Now this can be an advantage depending on matchups but I also wonder if it is one of the reasons why the team has been so horrid defensively the past several years (i.e., not quick enough or not strong enough to guard the opposing player). I guess we will find out this year.
  20. I guess I stand corrected. Whatever he did, he always had the legs to carry the Bulls in the playoffs.
  21. I don't think there is any question MJ was one of the hardest workers in the sport, whether that be in games, in practice or during the off-season.
  22. Aggression, consistency, confidence, accuracy and court awareness mostly. Some of those are correctible with added maturity. Year 3 is the year one year college wonders like Deng and Bosh blew-up in the NBA so alot will be expected of Marvin this year.
  23. Quote: I Say Speedy or Law. Couldn't agree more. Steady point guard play (both offensively and defensively) will have a huge impact on the Hawks ability to be competitive.
  24. This is easy, Childress. He is a good solid pro. Problem with him is that he is not a star like Deng and Iggy so he tends to get trashed on as part of the BK bashing. He was the third best player on the team last year.
