  1. Quote: I think that Tyson Chandler will end up a Hornet. The Hornets can trade PJ Brown for him and Brown's contract ends next summer which gives Paxson cap relief in a better FA year. I think Harrington makes little sense for the Bulls because they already have starters in Deng and Nocioni...Deng won't want to play behind AL. The Bulls won't spend that kind of money on AL when they have a better FA crop next year...and they already have two fine forwards to build around. The Hornets getting Tyson makes a lot more sense for the Bulls. Agreed.
  2. Quote: Quote: He said we need a shoot first point guard? No Good. What exactly did he say about the type of point guard they are looking for?
  3. Quote: BK is making a good point about the PGs. He's saying exactly what has been speculated... We need a Shoot first PG who can push the ball. The Guard has to have SIZE!!! BK wants somebody at least 6'2" who can push the ball. He said we need a shoot first point guard?
  4. Quote: Quote: If West is so good wonder why Ainge is giving up on him. West doesn't run the break well or get to the basket. he is a good shooter and a good defender though. If that is the case he makes zero sense for the Hawks. The Hawks need someone who can push the pace on the fast break, penetrate in the half court game and play good defense.
  5. Quote: Quote: I wish that Gottlieb had a more intelligent response as to why it was a good pick for us. It's as if no other team drafted a player with the intent to have that player start for them for 10+ years. Why is he such a wrong pick when he fills the most glaring 2 needs of the team? The only bad thing about the Sheldon pick is that it forces one of the other talented young forwards to the bench. As a fan, it can be hard to rationalize having 5 first round picks be forwards because you know the team will ultimately have to trade one or two of them to balance off the roster. That means one of the guys you start rooting for is going to go. For example, the development smoove showed last year really makes me look forward to seeing how he develops over his career. Problem is, he may have to be traded to get a legit starting point guard. For me, that is the hardest part.
  6. I like the Sheldon pick, I just wish BK picked Paul last year rather then a redundant small forward. If he had picked Paul last year this team would be looking really good. Right now, it still needs a lot of work.
  7. Quote: Quote: agreed, claxton or cassell would help us tremendously. I can't see cassell coming here though. Not sure about claxton You really need to set higher goals that 18MPG backups like Speedy Claxton. That dude can't shoot a lick. Listen, this is BK we are talking about, we would be lucky to get a point guard as talented as Speedy Claxton. My guess is BK has his eyes on someone like Howard Eisley.
  8. If Cassell just wants to get paid he can be had but if he wants to win then the Hawks have no chance at him. I rather have Claxton.
  9. This is what ESPN is reporting: Suns deal Rondo, Grant to C's for future pick The Celtics acquired Kentucky guard Rajon Rondo, the No. 21 pick overall, and veteran forward Brian Grant from the Phoenix Suns. In return, the Suns will acquire a future first round pick the Celtics acquired from the Cavaliers in exchange for swingman Jiri Welsch.
  10. Quote: Quote: ...On a sidenote am I the only one who thinks Phoenix wasted the pick they got from us? Sure seems like it to me Blunt. I think they were hoping for a project like Sene (did he go high or what?)...but once they didn't see anything out there they just decided to stand pat. I thought they got a 2007 first rounder from the Celtics for Rondo?
  11. Quote: Woodson said he could see: Joe Johnson Josh Childress Marvin Williams Josh Smith Sheldon Williams On the floor at the same time the 6'9" lineup Well, BK has built the team he envisioned. Lets see if it works.
  12. I think Claxton would be a good fit - a guy who can start and play 25-30 minutes a night.
  13. Lets be serious. No. Salim is far more one dimensional then either Roy or Foye - both of whom are not as good shooters as Salim but are far far better all around talents.
  14. I thought BK said last night that Sheldon was going to play power forward?
  15. Quote: pg - ? sg - joe johnson sf - Josh Smith Pf - Shelden Williams C - Zaza Bench Marvin Williams Josh Childress Salim Stoudamire Lue Solomon Jones I hope we trade Childress or Harrington for a pg. If BK can trade Harrington, Childress or Marvin (or some combination of Harrington and one of Childress/Marvin/Salim) for a good starting point guard I think that will go a long way towards putting a winning team on the floor. For the record, I do not think Francis, Marbury or Iverson are good fits. The Hawks need someone relatively young but with some experience. Not sure who that guy is though.
  16. If only BK veered from his stated philosophy a year earlier: Chris Paul Joe Johnson Josh Smith Sheldon Williams Zaza Pachulia With Childress, Stoudamire, Lue, Esteban and Solomon Jones off the bench. 45+ win team there.
  17. Quote: Shelden brings something new to the table: low post strength and defense and defensive rebounding Let's stop worrying about who will start and who won't start The fact is that all of the players we've gotten in the past few years have great potential and all bring DIFFERENT SKILL SETS to the team and all can get THIRTY+ mins per game if they deserve it shelden is very different from smoove who is very different from marvin who is very different from chill who is very different from jj who is very different from slim who is very different from zaza who is very different from batman we have LOTS of talent and potential and worse case, if the positional thing really is an issue, or the 'who gets to start' thing is really an issue, then we can make some trades...ALL of our young players are highly regarded and good trade bait...many teams draft busts in the first round that have no trade value; while u can argue that we should be selecting more with position in mind, u can't argue that our players are busts that have no value So calm down, enjoy the ride and let's see what this summer brings us If we bring in one of the vet pgs that woody mentioned: cassell, bjax, speedy, ?? then we should be much improved next year and be looking at 40+ wins barring injuries or chemistry issues One quirk about the Sheldon pick is the fact that BK has previously stated that he always drafts best player available - which explains the Marvin pick last year. Why did he make the switch to need this year?
  18. Starting five: Chris Paul Joe Johnson Josh Smith Sheldon Williams Zaza Pachulia That is a playoff team with one of the best backcourts in the NBA and a promising set of forwards.
  19. Quote: could go either way, depends on who had the better off season. Marvin is going to be the one to sit since he has not shown the ability Josh has. In light of the Sheldon pick I really think the Marvin pick last year over Paul set this franchise back a few years. Shame. Sheldon and Smoove can be a monster forward duo and Paul and JJ would have been a devestating backcout. Wouldn't have mattered much who played center, but a Zaza/Esteban/Soloman combo probably would have been enough.
  20. Quote: Quote: I'm I the only one here who thinks we need some interior defense and rebounding and strength? No, and we need to be more vocal. I'm tired of the whiners ruining this site. If you don't like this team, follow the Magic or Bobcats. I think Sheldon fills a need but I am dumbfounded as to the rationale for only drafting forwards. If BK had drafted Paul last year then the Sheldon pick would be a no brainer and would have the team on the fast track to the playoffs. Right now it seems that some of the other young teams have pieces that fit better together. Do we expect Sheldon to be the starting center - especially if we are also going to have an undersized power forward (Smith or Marvin, take your pick)?
  21. I really woudn't mind the pick if not for the fact that BK already drafted a half dozen forward prospects. The team still has huge holes at center and point guard.
  22. Ugh. How many forwards can this team draft? The last 5 first round picks have now been spent on forwards. BK loves forwards.
  23. Quote: Shelden makes more sense for Chicago then Thomas or Aldridge does. If they got Harrington they'd be sick Hinrich/Duhon Gordon/? Deng/Nocioni Al/Shelden Chandler/? That team would be lucky to win a series in the playoffs. Certaintly not a title contender.
