I think when you overpay for mediocre FAs that's when you get in more trouble with the cap.

Here's another scenario....Dwight still on team so no Dedmon. Dwight takes a buyout giving back $5 mil (similar to what he did with Brooklyn). Stretch his salary over 3 years so the cap hit is $6 mil (do Dedmon money) trade for Lin and still make the same trade for Melo. I can keep going, but I think you get the idea.

Not neccessarily true at all. If Dwight was here, Dedmon probably would not be here, so $7 million saved. Trade Moose $5 mil....the two combined that's the cost of Plumlee's contract. Nothing is static, always moving parts.

I would assume the terms of the trade included his buyout as part of the deal since the only way this trade happens is because he waived his No Trade Clause.

Fixed it for ya . There is no getting around Dwight and his issues regardless of Dennis. So you can rry to pawn it all of on Dennis but no one is buying what you are selling.

I agreed until the last part. Melo didn't wave his No Trade Clause to play on a rebuilding Atlanta Hawks team.

Better than getting the corspe of Noah, Mozgoz or Biyombo just to get rid of Dennis. I saw enough of those trade 'suggestions'.

This. Considering how Dennis was viewed atound the league, I can't complain about the return. This is added assests to to the treasure chest to use by drafting a player, trades etc.

Crawford was initially owed approx. $17 mil in guaranteed money. $14 +$3...buyout was $14 ish...paid $11+ last year, the remaining $3+ this year. (Rounded figures) That's @AHF...on top.of things
