Between Bamba, Bagley and JJJ - one will be a superstar, one will be a significant role player and one will be mediocre - that's just the odds. The Hawks just have to get the right one if these are the choices (I didn't include Ayton since we don't have a shot at him).

Easy? Really? That requires two top 5 picks and regardless of all the rumors tje chance if that happening is less than more likely.

Ok to have a foundation but you still need a cornerstone. Stars want more than anything to play with other Stars, not solid foundations.

1. We don't have capspace 2. I'm not interested in putting all my eggs in this one 2018 basket no matter what anybody says about this draft class. Come 11:00pm draft night, I'll hear a lot of the Squawk crying about 'why didn't we do this or that to move up'. Latching unto every rumor as fact will just leave you let down and exhausted. My approach - we are picking at #3, #19, #30 and #34. With the possibility of getting #14 from Denver to combine with #19 to move up. That's it. Not the pie in the sky wishes and unicorns.

That's why I've said i see us combining two of the picks to move up, or if we keep 4 one will be a draft and stazh.

I take no issue with the idea of trading down but with that comes what the additional compensation for doing so is and how far back is the trade. It will more than likely be a future 1st round pick.

I don't watch enough college ball for this. I just want 'THE' guy that will move us in the right direction. All these players have strengths and definitely weakness they need to work on. There are no LBJs in this draft - what we need us for who ever we pick to exceed expections and make those around him better.

I'm not overly impressed with Schlenk so far but I'm not writing him off since he'sbeen at it for 1 year. I was disappointed we weren't able to make any trades for 1sts at the deadline but I'd rather he passes on deals that brought back bad money for 2nd round picks, like the Bayless and a 2nd for Beli. Why eat into our capspace by $9 mil for a 2nd when if you need a 2nd you can buy one for $3 mil. Sometimes the best trades are no trades. Same with Illyasova. Was Dedmon even on the trade block? I've already said I'm giving more credit to BudCox and the scout team for Collins and Dorsey. Schlenk wasn't scouting high picks and he said so. Collins was already on the Hawks radar prior to Schlenk. Does anyone know if our scouting department has changed or stayed intact? I don't like how the whole Bud thing ended up with the Hawks still paying his entire salary. This offseason is important, not only the draft but FAcy as well - I'll be watching

This is where I worry about the Hawks trying to ne too cute witb the pick.

I don't think LAL has the player but what they do have is Magic and banners. Atlanta is a great NBA town, just not a Hawks town. I asked my BIL who was born and raised in Atlanta why he doesn't root for the Hawks - said it sucked being teased at school for being a Hawks fan because they invariably witll disappoint.

Hopefully by 2021 when this happens each team has their own GL team.
