I say no. These guys are weak minded individuals. It's funny how easy it is to get into Howard's mind and SMoove is just Smoove. They have all the physical tools you can imagine but mentally/emotionally they are lacking.

The problem is the timing of the shots. He comes down and dribbles then shoots. He doesn't even think about passing. He takes bad shots at the very worst time. Like I said in the chat if we have a lead, Marvin should be in the game not Crawford.

Van Gundy left Howard in for the entire game. That meant that we could never have our most effective combinations in the game due to needing a big man to "guard" Howard. My question is how much more dominant can Howard be than he is right now. Twin is doing squat. He is shooting a high percentage, he is out rebounding him and to top it off Howard doesn't have to guard Twin on offense. We won the first game and you all get excited. I didn't want to be a party pooper so I kept my mouth close. Last night show's how this series will go. We can beat them but we won't beat them. Twin is a joke and that fact that many of you gave him props for holding Howard to 46 and 19 is ridiculous. Again I don't think that Howard would dominate Horford this bad. We can have the same game plan of playing him straight up with Al instead of Twin who brings nothing else to the table. Van Gundy has figure this out and don't be surprised if he plays all 48 on Friday. You see how we turn into a jumpshooting team and when we miss you got Howard sitting there waiting for the rebound knowing that he won't have to outwork Twin to get it. At least playing Al at the 5 with his much improved jumpshot will force Howard to play some defense and have to guard someone. You remember how Jason Collier use to force Shaq to come out and guard him because he had pretty good range. we can do this with Al he has an awesome jumpshot that they must respect. Twin has no offensive skill whatsoever. We are losing perimeter defense with the "big lineup". We won the first game because of offense not defense. Of course the refs aren't helping either but we can't control that.

All of our players stepped it up defensively. JJ, Marv, Horf, Josh, Hinrich, and even Crawford played really good defense last night. That's why we won. It was team defense. Once we sacrificed our big men to Howard we shut everyone else down. The only problem I have is that I think that Marvin should be in the game instead of Jamal when you are trying to protect a lead. He is the superior defender and Jamal has the tendency to shoot the other team back into the game.

The problem is the they have never done anything to prove them wrong. You have to earn respect and we simply haven't done it yet. When you can make an argument that Josh SMith is your best player and you see the despite his stats even the coaches won't put him on the all star team you have a problem. When I watch nationally televised games the announcers say stuff about our players that just aren't true. Not picking on Josh but they often make the comment that he is a great perimeter defender and great defensive player. I sit there scratching my head going wtf are they talking about. This shows you that we are an afterthought. Its not about the Hawks but rather who we are playing. The HAwks don't even have the respect of the city yet along the media. I wonder how bad the attendance is going to be for the home games. We got to destroy Orlando in 5-6 games and take Chicago to the limit if not beat them.

Thats a point that I always try to bring up. Dwight Howard isn't as offensively gifted as Ewing, Olajawon, Robinson, or Shaq. He isn't going to drop 30 on anyone too funny. I never understood why we didn't just play him straight up.

I have been thinking about this Hawks team and what exactly is our problem. I am not talking about the last 2 losses but rather our team overall. I honestly think that we have the talent to compete with any team in the league but we don't the effort. Everyone on this team (even AL) seems so nonchalant. No one seems to really want to win or care about winning. The players demeanor is damn near identical in interviews after wins or losses. We lack a consistent effort and I place that surely on the coaching. Shooting jumpers instead of driving to the basket shows you the kind of effort this team has. Its easier to chuck a jumper than to get in the paint. Hell seems like Marvin is the only one trying to drive to the basket with some kind of consistency and that isn't saying much. Instead of " we are going to go out and win tonight" being the motto of the team the motto is "we are going to go out and see what happens". No drive. NO heart. No effort. NO fire. Losing doesn't seem to bother these dudes. Talent or Effort? What is our problem?

I agree we haven't seen the motion offense in a while.

The problem is that tries to draw the foul on every shot. This causes him to take a more difficult shot.

I have noticed that AL is becoming a little quick on the trigger and he is going farther and farther out shooting jumpers. We have to have someone under the board. LD had to get this thing together!!! Isn't he suppose to be the "warrior" on the team. He is starting to display a finesse game. Marvin is stroking it pretty well lately. HE should have been in the game down the stretch instead of Jamal. LD should have slowed it down when they started coming back.

His attitude the other night was horrible. Same old story it seems. What can be done to make him get it or is it safe to say that after 7 seasons he what he is? If Josh Smith is our best player what does that say about our team? You think that LD should bench him for the rest of the season to let him know the deal? I am talking about his attitude and not his performance. But the performance made his attitude that much worse.

I think that you are right about that. Don't know what is fair value for Josh?

They will never bring Smoove off the bench even if he is injured.

If you are protecting a lead against a team that is more than capable of coming back why in the hell do you have Jamal Crawford in the game instead of Marvin Williams. Craw didn't really play well today he should not have been in the game late. It few bad bounces and we could have lost today. LD just doesn't get it. Another win against another bad team.

During the pregame interview he stated that moving Smoove to the 3 would allow him to match up with Lebron James and I quote " he always does a good job on Lebron". I damn near choked on my spaghetti. I knew then that it was all over!!

Ahawks89 if you don't like the thread don't post on it. This board belongs to the fans. I just asked a simple question. Did I lie about anything or make anything up? I am just interested in my hawksquawk brethren's opinion on my question. If you don't like it then move on because there is nothing here to see. I posted a general legitimate question and used Josh as an example. I don't have to call out Josh. His play does that for him.
