  1. We will be severely handicapped. The NEW CBA will make sure of that. When contracts are lowered there will be no special concessions for teams that give out big contracts now. JJ's salary maybe 40-50% of our salary cap in the near future. The contract in itself is bad but the fact that we don't know what the future holds makes it really scary. The owners want contracts lowered and from what I have been reading they may actually get what they wanted. I
  2. My link All I can say is damn!!
  3. For starters we aren't a well respected teams in the league but we need to develop some pride as an organization and build from there. Honestly I have yet to hear anybody Sekou, Stephen A, Barkely, Dennis Scott, epsn, etc say that JJ is worth the max. Everybody knows that he doesn't deserve the max but here we are getting ready to overpay because we the Atlanta Hawks. Why does it have to be like this. Damn near half the league lives in Atlanta people would love to play here and while not perfect Atlanta is a pretty good "new" city. I think that it is time we change out culture here and we can start by letting JJ walk or getting a sign and trade. No one is paying to see JJ (or Smoove) they are paying to see the Hawks. Believe it or not there are some die hard Hawks fans in Atlanta. Just ride the train before and after a game and you will see. We are not the only ones If we let JJ go how bad would it hurt if at all. He dominated the ball and when he stepped back a little we played pretty good ball. I am not saying we are championship material without JJ but are we with him? We have solid talent on this team in Horf, Zaza,Craw, Marvin, and Josh and possibly Teague and Jo. Crawford. I say let him go and save some face (and Money). We are not that bad of a franchise that we have to overpay someone this badly to get them to come to our team. Once he gets his contract watch him demand a trade in a few years or so. It is obvious that if all things were equal he would have been gone already. He wants an extra 30 million just play for the lowly Hawks. Its funny because it can be debated at how much of drop off there will be if he leaves. Its not like anyone was expecting for us to win the championship next year anyway. What do we have to lose by letting JJ go? We need to let him go and take our lumps and work from there!! If there are lumps to be taken. We need to develop some pride, we need to establish an environment where signing a broken down, journeyman Shaquille o"Neil hoping to catch lightning in a bottle doesn't get the natives riled up with excitement.
  4. hell they were better than us last year!!
  5. That's what JJ should be getting.
  6. JJ is 29 years old. He is what he is. Players don't turn into superstars at age 29. Woody's offense was bad for everyone but JJ and he still barely gave you 20 a game. This contract will handicap us. Now that the bar may have been possibly lowered for what a max is how is Horf not going to get the max. I have the strangest feeling that Smoove maybe on his way out. He has value. I keep thinking that he maybe at the center of the so called player chemistry problems.
  7. Thats just about what JJ should be making!!
  8. Caron Butler and Dampier are done. I guess you didn't see the playoffs!!
  9. so Lebron can win an NBA title. James hasn't won jack in the league. He dominates the ball, he can't play without the ball. Why is it that wherever he goes people want to automatically give them the championship next year. He hasn't won it yet and it has all been on him. You think Bosh, Wade, or any other superstar wants to take the rap when they don't win but when they do watch Lebron get all the credit. You still have to play the games people!!
  10. I feel that he is talking about Smoove as well.
  11. Zydrunas Ilgauskas Mike Miller Channing Frye Amir Johnson Nate Robinson Brad Miller Udonis Haslem John Salmons Josh CHildress Brendan Haywood Johan Petro Steven Hunter Damien Wilkins Shaun Livingston This is it folks.
  12. Do there styles compliment each other? What style would you run with them? I know if JJ leaves (when JJ Leaves) Jamal will probably be the starter.
  13. Anybody got any type of video of this kid at all. How about a picture of him in uniform. Wouldn't be surprised if he was a plant by the ASG so they can at least claim that they drafted someone,
  14. Adreian Wojnarowski of Yahoo reports the Pacers and Nets are discussing a trade that would exchange Danny Granger and the 10th overall pick for Devin Harris and the 3rd. Read more: http://basketball.realgm.com/#ixzz0romTE3nR IF true I doubt they would want JJ and Granger on the same team!! One less hurdle for us if you want JJ back!!
  15. I think that the only lock is Tyrone Hill since he took him to the interview with him.
  16. He will install a motion offense that has never been seen in the NBA before. WOW!
  17. Larry Drew: LD: That’s part of looking at our team and seeing what some of the issues are that have slowed us down and kept us from making that next big jump. Offensively, a lot of people are seeing the same thing. When you have five guys out there playing together, five guys out there moving the basketball, and five guy out there who are a threat, you become a much more potent team, and that’s something that I’m definitely planning on implementing, so we can have all guys out on the floor being a threat. Not all five guys necessarily being scorers, but all five guys being a threat. We have the capability of obviously Joe having a big night, or Josh Smith or Al having a big night, even the capability of Marvin having a big night. And Jamal coming off the bench is obviously a guy who can score in bunches. We just want to add a few things, subtract a few things just to make us a better ballclub. Larry Drew just sold me. I think that he gets it. No way JJ comes back for this though!!!
  18. What will it say about JJ if he doesn't buy into the team effort?
  19. My link The Hawks also want to move away from an isolation-heavy offensive approach that was influenced by guard Joe Johnson’s playing style. Johnson is eligible to become a free agent next month, and the Hawks still want to re-sign him. A person with knowledge of Johnson’s plans said he’s still open to returning. But the person said the new coach would have to sell Johnson on relying more on his teammates offensively and ensure him that locker-room chemistry would improve. The fact the we constantly ran ISO Joe was probably the source of locker room chemistry problems. I maybe wrong but I think there maybe be a problem between JJ and Horf. Will Joe buy into the team concept?? Can he buy into the team concept? There are alot of questions that need to be answered if we are going to move forward!!
  20. none of the people we have interviewed (except Avery Johnson) names have come up for any other openings other than this one. People if that don't speak volumes about where this team is right now nothing else will or can. Think about!!
  21. I wanted Del Harris when they hired Woody.
  22. They never had any intentions of hiring this guy due to his salary. It doesn't take this long to find a coach after you have interviewed several candidates. Now the crap about how he left negotiations with us for the Nets can be the talk when they march Larry Drew or D. Casey out as the new Hawks coach. Avery might not be the only Johnson they "steal" from us. If Mark Jackson is our new coach it will be because he is the cheapest of the three!!
